My Mom's Texas Hash

My mom served this easy to prepare dish with a tossed salad and often pineapple upside down cake

1 lb. hamburger
1 large green pepper,cleaned,and cut into bite size pieces
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 16 oz. canned diced tomatoes
1/2 cup rice
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder

Melt shortening and cook the green pepper and onion. When veggies are soft add hamburger. Break up meat inmto small pieces and then once browned add one can tomatoes, the pepper,rice,Worchestershire sauce, salt and chili powder.

Pour into a greased prepared casserole and bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.


Serve with a tossed salad and fresh cooked green beans.
