Alphabe Thursday

I missed my letter "N" last week! Now it is an easy letter for me to think about. My youngest son and oldest daughter are "N" people! Both of their first names start with the letter N! So I thought of dedicated a post to them! Then I went for round two with my nasty flu like and  nap inducing sinus problems! The work place has been numbing! Busy and busier and never stopping for a nice breathe of fresh air! So I am sure you know I was unable to play "N" letters last week! I thought you might like a little taste of what I was thinking about.

Nothing fancy and not a nail biter but nicely played!
Noelle and Hannah May 2012, Metro State graduation!

Nick looking nifty in orange!

So here I am with my second half of AT! "O" is for orange! This is great because Nick's college colors are orange and black! I don't look really terrific in orange but he can pull this off, running to his next goal in his  journey for college running.
Lots of sprinters showing off their orange (front row, Nick far left)! He ran the 3000 and 5k but lots of his team mates shown here are short distance runners! They won the Jayhawk Eastern Conference Men's Indoor Track a few weeks back!
If you don't know Ms. Jenny stop by and tell her you want to get to know her while oohing and ahhing over all the nice O posts!

Love is....blue

A blue weekend here! My honey was sweet,he cleared the walkways and had the guys help him clear the driveway! It is still snowing! I am not complaining about the snow but rather because I was just starting to feel better and Bam! The flu bug hit me like a ton of bricks! Ugh! Aack! Woke up Saturday morning with flu and finally calming down tonight. Long weekend of feeling blue and sad there are so many strains of the flu that the shot doesn't even begin to work!
Looks like me! I am backward tonight! My Love is...tribute made me smile because my hubby does so much around the house!  Please visit MARYDON and share your favorite Love is..too!
Some pretty blue bedrooms to enjoy!
I love the wall design!
Light and airy and still very blue!
Clean lines and just enough color to make someone get well soon!
Pretty blue pillows for when you feel better and just want to lounge around and read a good book!

Now please visit SALLY and share some blue with her today!

Middle of the Week Photos

Five o'clock rush hour as the snow starts to come down. I love the beauty of the snow and I also love the fact that we need the moisture desperately but I dislike driving in it! Say some prayers tomorrow. I know we are not alone, it seems everyone from Tucson to Buffalo has been getting snow! Kansas is getting hit hard, in fact, Nick's college closed at noon today and will not be opened tomorrow. Praying is always good for starving college kids! Kansas has lots of icy rain too so it makes driving conditions dangerous!
I usually catch the morning sun rising here at the top of the bridge when I am returning from the RTD bus stop where my hubby catches his morning bus! Today at 6:45 A.M. the sun was hiding! Clouds were filling the sky.
Some sunshine hiding but rising yesterday morning in the early morning hours.
I am off my game! My hubby has had a terrible cough along with bronchitis for three weeks! Of course, in the middle of it all, I got sick too! Sinus junk! Our middle daughter has a new vaporizer so we are using that and getting as much rest as we can when we are not at work! He missed three days of work and I missed a half day with a bad migraine starting my sinus infection. Good thing we can see the ENT doctor! I work for him!
This is a set of three trays from one of my favorite Victorian catalog companies. I am hoping to buy  a set because I need something to hold all my "stuff: when I am resting.
We have been drinking a lot of hot tea. I like lemon, my hubby likes lots of honey. We use this kind of honey:
We buy as much local products and produce as we can! This tasty honey is from Colorado's Western slope.
My favorite Twining teas include Earl Grey and Earl Gray decaf tea and Lady Grey! My hubby loves Darjeeling as does our oldest daughter! We have a really cool electric tea kettle:
I am not getting anything for telling you about my Hamilton Beach electric tea kettle but it is awesome! It heats water in about 7 minutes. I have many tea kettles and tea pots but this one is my favorite to heat water in!
A different photo I took with my new iphone last week. You can see the outline of the Catholic church that is within walking distance of my house. The sun rise is so majestic that I dwell on God's love and His masterpieces that fill the skies!
I missed many of my favorite meme's this weekend. So am I am sharing a few. Hope you like the Love is... here. I could actually write my love in the snow because I don't live near the seashore but I think the message here is sweet and very clear! I hope you visit Marydon and share some Love is...with her too.

Sweet blue tea for one. I received one of these from my Secret Santa partner this past Christmas. A cheery teapot when you are under the weather. I hope you have visited Sally and all the Blue crew for Blue Monday! I had my post ready to go and I was too tired to put it up!
Finally this 1 Thessolonians 5:18 Scripture is my input for Charlotte and all the wonderful people who make Spiritual Sunday a day of  encouragement and Linda for sharing GratitudeSunday with all of us and inviting us to join her. I am grateful for so many things in my life and you are all a part of it too. Although we have had our share of mild health issues we have been blessed to have avoided the "big" stuff at this time in our lives. Perhaps I will make a list of grateful things in my own life. Thanks Linda, you are a real doll!
I have shared some of my own photos as well as wonderful google images.  I hope you enjoyed my middle of the week share.

PINK SATURDAY COLORADO

I love my home state Colorado! I am proud to be a native and enjoy the beauty all around us. Did you know we have more days of sunshine than Miami, Florida? If you are a native here you know the weather can change in a heartbeat! Often people will say "If you don't like the weather now, wait five minutes!" Do you know that we have a low rate of air pollution? We have a low prevalence of  obesity, diabetes and sedentary life style. Don't you love the pinkness of the setting sun?
This is an autumn view of the Maroon Bells. As a teen I was able to admire this beauty fourteener close up.
This is Pikes Peak mirrored behind the beautiful Garden of the Gods. As a kid my folks house faced Pikes Peak and the view was magnificent from our living room window even though Pikes Peak was about thirty five minutes from our home. Again as a teen I was able to hike some of this beautiful fourteener. Katherine Lee Bates wrote American the Beautiful in the summer of 1893 when she saw the view from Pikes Peak. See the pretty pink of the Garden of the Gods?
Colorado has lots of waterfalls! Although I am uncertain exactly where you would find this one it sits quietly in front of a field of beautiful pink summer flowers!

I thought I would share my native state with you today for Pink Saturday! Please make an effort to visit Beverly and other pinkies. Beverly is correct in saying Pink Saturday is about fellowship and friendship so please visit lots of pinkies today!

Tuesday Tails/REDNESDAY/"M" for for Memories

This is my very late Tuesday Tail. I have been under the weather and was barely walking in the door at night when I had to collapse in my bed and rest my weary bones! This sinus stuff is ugly! But my doctor gave me a ten day course of antibiotics on Monday and I am half way to feeling better. So I wanted to share this sweet cat photo. Isn't this a true statement, they grow up so fast, hold them while you can! True of children and of pets! I hope you visit Sandie because she always shares a fun Tuesday Tail!
Now for a Rednesday! I have always loved the Anne Geddes photographs. This baby nestled inside a red rose is a delight! Stop by Sue's and say hello, even if I am too late to link with her!
I was going to save these black and white treasured photos for Easter time because I am sure I was dolled up for the holidays here. My mother had a way to make us look our very best when I was growing up and I thank my sweet sis Mary for finding these photos for me. Having grown up Catholic we were always very proper in our appearance and stood tall and very proud! These treasured memories bring back a time when life seemed so simple and safe. As a child we never worried about school shootings or bullying. We were raised by good hard working fathers and mothers who  mainly tended to children and kept their homes and families together. We were raised with faith and honesty, integrity, and discipline and never once have I personally ever felt abused or slighted as a child because I knew both of my folks loved me and my four siblings. Life seemed ideal and families in the 1950s and 60s raised their families like their parents before them and children were not ruling the roost as in more modern families today!
I love looking back on memories of my childhood and talking about days gone bye. I live near a large Catholic church and on Ash Wednesday I noticed the parking lot overflowing with cars for their morning service. I was thinking how as a small child my parents always made time for church services and in fact, my mother, attended daily, until she was in the last few years of her life. I thought about today's families and how many activities they participate in and how God has really fallen out of the lives of so many. Today there is so much emphasis on everything but faith in God! I know my own family has fallen away from the weekly church going routine and it makes me sad. I have used the excuse that we could never find the right church to attend. Goodness knows we tried. But all excuses aside I still have my faith intact and many memories of church services as a kid. I remember attending Sunday Mass with my folks and siblings and my sister, five years older than me, making me laugh in church! My father had a stern look and he use to say if we would not behave we could join the devil, waiting outside one of the side doors at our church! To this day I fondly remember that and it makes me smile and brings back a mind full of wonderful memories.
Please join Ms. Jenny and all the "M" participates this week at Alphabe Thursday!

Had to share this Love is...for Valentine's day! I thought it would look sweet with these flowers I am thinking will add the perfect Valentine's Day touch!

With Valentine's Day around the corner here  is an interesting list of flower meanings:

Flower & Plant Information and Photos - Meanings of Flowers
In Victorian times, certain flowers had specific meanings because the flower selection was limited and people used more symbols and gestures to communicate than words. But today, with so many flower choices, there are no rules - it's the sentiment that gives the gift its meaning. Your florist can help you send the right message. Many people assign their own personal meanings - a flower or color that might remind them of a special event or moment in their lives. For those interested in the historic meanings of flowers, the Society of American Florists has compiled this list from a variety of different sources:

Valentine Treats

This really is a two tier server that I own from Princess House and their retired Vintage Garden collection. I am filling it for Valentine's Day! Hmmm.let's see what sounds good....
I found these lacey pink heart cookies! They look always too pretty to eat but I bet I could, how about you?
Red and white mini cupcake bouquets! Creative, talented design yet I am thinking, yummy too!

Sweet conversation brownie bites. These look delicious and I bet they taste even better than the chalky conversation hearts we had as kids! We filled our two tier server. How about a tall glass of ice cold milk? A steaming cup of tea or a latte? What's your pleasure.

Now swing over to Beverly and the Pink Saturday crowd. Do you know that last week I visited everyone of the pinkies? I was thinking about my sweet friend CC who passed away in 2010. She inspired me to visit everyone and leave a comment so I was finally able to do it! Join me today and spread your pinks around!

Happy Valentine's Day!

"L" is for Laughter

I thought of using "love", after all it is nearly Valentine's day but I decided to go with laughter! This commercial, which advertises Volkswagen is just sweet! I love listening to laughter ! Smiling and laughing are good for the heart. I cherish the sound of a toddlers laugh!  My goodness the more simple things appeal to me much more than anything else anywhere! So smile while listening to the laughter in this commercial.

Now before you head over to Ms. Jenny's check out these silly blonde jokes:

Why did the blonde get fired from the M and M factory? She was throwing away all the "W"'s!

Why did the blonde get excited after finishing the jigsaw puzzle in only six months? The box said 2-4 years.

A robber comes into a store and steals a T.V.  A blonde runs after him and says "Wait, you forgot the remote!"

"So I asked a blonde, "Which is closer Florida or the sun?" The blonde looks up and says "The sun, because I can look up and see it."
Make sure you visit the fun loving, creative, talented, Alphabe Thursday participates soon.
