Think Pink!

The song says "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and I agree! So for Beverly and the Pinkies this weekend think pink!
A Cool pink cat with some fun shades!
My son Nick misplaced his wallet today. He was getting upset and I was thinking this thought, Keep Calm! For him think pink might not work but when I think pink, I smile!
A striped tea cup in pink and white with a special cupcake! So sweet!
Oh how I love the Pink Panther! He is a special fellow and always getting into mischief!
So are you thinking pink yet?  Hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving with those you love and I wish you much pinkness for this weekend. Don't forget my blogaversary giveaway that ends December 14th.  It is going to be a special surprise. Just follow me and leave a comment. Nothing fancy or difficult to do. Just be a kind heart.

Broken Hearts and Heaven

If I don't laugh, I will just start bawling again! Today I learned from sweet Parsley that Freddy a precious pooch belonging to Nikki passed away. Perhaps he did not belong to her, rather she was owned by Freddy. Made my heart break. Loss is hard. No matter who you lose whether human or fur baby, the loss is all the same.

A precious poem found on google image.
October 27, 2013, our tiny dancer chilling with her blanket in her bed. All these weeks since she left this earth no one but Bandit had the courage to climb into her bed. Last  night Stella parked her rather large buns in there too! She hung over all the sides! It was comical and she looked up at me as if to say "You needed to laugh didn't you?" I catch myself thinking "I need to cook Roxanne's chicken." She had the best chicken breast hand poached three times a week by me. My father would chuckle, he would look so lovingly at my mother and say "Ma, what do you think God thinks of it all?" I don't know every single though the Lord is thinking but my whole entire life I have asked for signs. He provides them. The night we lost Roxanne we all paraded to Hannah's bedroom to remind the lil sweetheart how much we loved her and that we knew she was not able to hang on much longer. As we filed in the room and said her name, she lifted her tiny head and ears to look up at each one of us. After her passing, my hubby said, did you notice that her little body was so empty? I think God does take them home. I don't handle death really well. Twenty eight years after the loss of my own father I am still sad. The holidays remind me how much he loved his phamily and how he enjoyed spending time with all the phamily. Twelve years after losing my mother I miss her Thanksgiving stuffing. I attempted to duplicate her cheesecake and although I have no recipe to work with I found something very similar and smiled when I ate that first bite. She would say, "Good cheesecake just don't forget to pray. Remember to be kind and if you can't, than pray harder."
February 3, 2012. Trek, he belongs to Noelle and her phamily. He loves the snow. He is a quirky fellow. If he likes you he will pee on you! He is such an excitable fellow. He suffers from seizure disorder. Broke my heart on September 11th when he suffered a major seizure. I had to leave the room, I was weeping for him! He is young, born on Valentine's Day, four years ago. But the seizures are heartbreaking. I wish there was a cure for them, not only for Trek but everyone who suffers from them.
Mr. Bandito, one of the nicknames Jeremy gave this BFF of his. Here he is chilling in the comfy bed poor Sophie his pal outgrew! He is an odd little guy. Circles around three times before he runs outside and again before he does his business. He is not as young as he once was. But he loves Jeremy and my son wants him to live forever.
I like life when it is simple. We all need sleep and food!
November 2, 2009. Ah Tinkerbell., we lost her May 2010. Damn cancer, It is the kindest way I can describe it. This girl spent fourteens years with us. She was a runaway. Had a few scrapes with the law, had to have a chip implant! Laugh Out Loud! You hate it when the cops call you! But she lived a gypsy life until we corralled her.  She and Rebekah were inseparable.  She is probably showing Roxanne around the other side of life after we lose it.
Oh Reggie, my friend, Boots, my pal. Mr. Kitty my BFF! The day you left me to go to the Rainbow Bridge I lost a part of my heart. A piece like the one missing from a puzzle. My Boots boy was a very dignified cat. He was a first class act. I miss him dearly but know he is watching me from heaven. I bet he is showing Roxanne and Tinkerbell how cats and dogs all get along in their new home. He was funny like that when he was here. he made the valiant effort to get along with all the other pets. He is so dearly missed.

"B" is for Bountiful and a Blogaversary Giveaway

I found this at google images and thought it was perfect for a Thanksgiving bountiful season. I have missed two week of Alphabe Thursday and want to make Ms. Jenny proud. I hope you visit her and make sure to stop by Janie Junebug and visit her wonderful blog, read a beautiful story and enter her giveaway! I have been out of the loop for a while so I am trying to catch up with everyone and also meet new folks along the way!
I celebrated four years of blogging this month! It completely slipped my mind. This office move is weighing on my mind and I am not sure where I will be at the new office so it makes thinking about anything else difficult. Prayer please.

I am looking for a surprise to giveaway so just follow me and leave a comment and I will enter  you in my giveaway.
It will end December 14th. Make sure you have an email address for  me to contact you if you win! I have a milestone birthday coming up one week from today so lots of busy times at our house.
I don't have a photo of the real Zsa Zsa but my co worker Monica's sister has a thing for boxers and recently bought a white boxer named ZsaZsa. She is really a cutie pie! There is my "Z" contribution from last week and Alphabe Thursday.
Now the "A" letter is easy! Anne and Avery! Ta Da! Kristi, our Audiologist took this snapshot of my hubby and I at Monica and Carlo's wedding.

Finally a friendship poem for all of you:

Tribute to Friendship

I love you not only for what you are,
But for what I am when I am with you;
I love you not only for what you have made of yourself,
But for what you are making of me;
I love you not for closing your ears to the discords in me,
But for adding to the music in me by worshipful listening;
You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sign.
You have done it just by being yourself.
Perhaps that is what being a friend means, after all.

A Blue Monday

Goodness the time is flying away from me! Our office is moving and I hope you will all pray. Lots of problems arising so we are trying to roll with it! The new office is one block away and it is much larger and lots of wonderful windows. We look out to the west so it is nice to overlook the I-25 highway traffic and see the majestic mountains snow capped behind all the hustle and bustle.
Some blue and white packing boxes for Sally and the Blue crew. We have lots of packing to do so I know we will use these boxes and lots of this:
Packing tape is pretty these days. Lots to do and I have not been on my blog. Thanks to everyone who visits and leaves comments. Plus feeling blah until Nick arrived home Friday. Then we got busy with the phamily. It has been a blessing.
I am trying to work on my Secret Santa too! I always participate with Suzanne and am excited to find lots of  cool ideas for my Secret Santa friend.
I missed last week too with Marydon and this little Love is..reminds me to be thankful for all I have. We may not have lots of money or material things but we have faith and good health and a wonderful phamily with many bountiful blessings. I am excited to share Thanksgiving with my phamily and hope you will too.
A Norman Rockwell favorite and hopefully all the Blue Monday folks will notice the sweet blue and white dress the Missus is wearing! What's on your holiday menu?

A Pretty Pink Catch Up

If this were my office I would never want to leave!

I would put this on the wall!
Then I would drink my tea or coffee from this pretty cup and saucer.

I hope you will visit Beverly and more pinkies too! Happy weekend everyone!

Fun Facts to Know About Me!

I try to organize my time so I won't spend all my free moments at one place, like Pinterest or Facebook or here but several Face Book friends posted tidbits of their lives and when you leave a comment the number of your comment is the number of things you post about yourself. I had lots of fun today doing these so I thought let me share a few here:

1. I use to love eating Ellis Tamales from the can (LOL) and I would  smother them in ketchup!

2. I own dozens of cookbooks and yet my hubby is a much better cook than me!

3. I have a letter written to me by Tom Landry. In case you don't know him, he was one of the   greatest coaches in the NFL and spent many years with the Dallas Cowboys.

4. I have no musical talents. ;-(  but...

5. I love to dance!

6. I have never been a fan of Tom Cruise and his recent appalling comments comparing himself to our military personnel made me physical ill!

7. My first car was a 1972 Canary Yellow Dodge Swinger. I loved that car.

8. I read at least twenty books in the winter. My book shelves are overflowing with lots of great reads!

9. My hubby and I wore the same jean size when we were newlyweds!

10. My taste in music ranges from Opera to Rap and everything in between!

A friend I have known for over eleven years told me today she was born in Lima, Ohio! I love those fun facts! Share a few here with me today about you!

Happy Veteran's Day

I have had a tough day with a bad headache but I think I was having a reaction to some topical cream the Derm Dr. gave me for my Rosacea. Nothing seems to help. I am going to research some home remedies. Maybe something simple will help.
Lots of wonderful people posted about Veteran's Day and put up photos of their own relatives who had served. I have a long list. I wish I had all my photos but one of these days I am going to scan them all so they will be readily available. My Uncle Tom Binder who grew up in Yankton, South Dakota was in the Army Air Corp. My Uncle Edward "Munson" Trontel served as well in the U.S. Army. They both were in WWII. My dear Tata Rose, my grandmothers younger sister sent her husband off to WWI. My late brother-in-law Gary Ricklefs served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. My sister Mary's ex husband, Bob Hoffert went to Vietnam. My sister lost many high school classmates and I found them all on the traveling wall a few years ago for her. My mom's cousin, Hedwig, in the photo on my header (she is the taller girl) lost her only son, a U.S. Marine in Vietnam. My late cousin Jesse Hoskins passed away from the effects of Agent Orange when he was a young man in his thirties. My girlfriend Kathy O'Gane, her sister Marlene and their late brother Michael all served in the U.S. Navy. My late father-in-law was at Pearl Harbor in a submarine with the U.S. Navy and my grandmothers cousin Frances lost her only son Bruce during WWII.  My hubby's uncles served in the Air force (Uncle Virgil) and Bud and Duane served in several different branches of the military. My son Jeremy's good friend Ben is in the US Air Force and our daughters Rebekah and Hannah recently reunited with their good friend Dan after he served 8 years with the U.S. Navy.  My husband's cousin Carolyn served as a nurse in the US Army at Desert Storm. To those who served thank you. Many have gone before us but I tip my hat to you if you served. I have said it before and I will say it again I do not believe you should be able to serve in our government political ring unless you have also served your country. Our country is currently in such a disgraceful state it is absolutely sad. Then you hear people like Tom Cruise mouth off about how hard he works in a day of filming. Crawl in a fox hole Cruise and watch your best buddy die and then come back and tell us your glory stories!

Some words to a favorite song and I will end hoping you have stopped by Sally's and joined more blue over there.

The Battle Hymn of the Republic by Andy Williams. I remember when I was just a kid that he sang this song at the funeral of Robert F. Kennedy and my dad had the 45 RPM record of it. Good memories.

Thank a Vet for your freedom and not just on this holiday.

Youth

"In youth and beauty, wisdom is but rare." Homer

A thoughtful quote. I hope you will give me your own personal opinion on it and visit Mr. Jenny and other Y posts so you can see so much creativity and encouragement.

The week has been a blur for me, with the loss of our little sweetheart Roxanne on Sunday. She had just been with us for nearly three years but the vet thought perhaps she was close to being ten years old. She was still young and we wish she would have lived longer. But we did the very best that we could and she lived out the remainder of her tiny little life in good hands. We treasured her.
Bandit was the only brave soul to show his love for the little girl. He hopped into her bed and hung his head in sadness. I wept.
Tiger A/K/A Mickey, A/K/A Mr. Kitty, A/K/A Mr. Thompkins loved Roxanne. Although he is simply a silly kitten his wisdom is larger than his youth! Particularly this day, June 25, 2013. He noticed Roxanne was not feeling 100 percent! So he hopped over to her and placed his paw gently on her. She loved sleeping with the fellow! It was the only time he was completely kind, not biting, not skittering across the floor, stealing food from the other pets! He knew, in his heart, she was ill and he took it upon himself to care for her.

I took a break from reading this book. Sent to me by a very dear, very kind friend,  Myra
Her blog is a delight and she is way too kind to me but having lost her precious pup recently she knows the pain and heartache,. If you have lost a pet you need to read this book. It is a gift. A rare read written from the dogs point of view. Please get a copy if you have not yet already read it. You will laugh and you will cry but you will not be disappointed.
I know I did not spend a lot of time examining youth but I felt like this is better therapy than getting too negative about the actions of "some" of our youth today! I would rather have a wet nose in the palm of my hand then diamonds and jewels!

I will close with a prayer request. Pray for our daughter Rebekah, as a college graduate she needs to find full time work. The rising cost of repaying student loans are nerve racking. Pray for all of us, especially Hannah and Markus as they deal with the loss of their little Roxanne. Then pray for Eli and Nick as they run at eleven o'clock tomorrow   morning in Fort Dodge, Iowa in the XC National event. Very proud of them and of course, you know we are truly proud of Nick and all his college accomplishments so far. Thank you.
Pray these young men fly and their feet are strong and their hearts and minds are set on their individual goals.
On one final note and I will wish you all a beautiful, happy and safe weekend pray that the tooth I had to have filled will heal and I will not need a root canal! I would appreciate it. Thank you all for your love and friendship. You are amazing, each one of you individually.

Love is Blue Tonight

Tonight shortly after six o'clock this sweet girl Roxanne drew her final breathe. She had been with us such a short time, December 2010 and today she was called to the Rainbow Bridge. She is laying on a blue blanket on the blue sofa. in this photo. The cancer was cruel.  It ravaged her tiny little body and we did the very best we could.to make her as comfortable as possible. She took two medications to help ease her symptoms. A steroid and an antibiotic. She ate special food. Everyone loved her. Many tears were shed. Hannah and Markus had a partnership with Roxanne. She was like their child. They both loved her tremendously and their hearts are broken tonight. Bonnie, who is Markus'  mom loved her too. Bonnie has such a gift for caring for pets and particularly pets that have developed cruel and heartless diseases. She will be sad because each Wednesday Roxanne spent the day with her and she loved babysitting this sweet little girl. When Roxanne would come home I would ask her if she had a good time with Bonnie! She would sit up and her little ears would indicate to me that yes, she and Bonnie had a wonderful day!
A blue note to remember the happy days when Roxanne was free and happy. Do you know that the first summer she was with us I bought her a red, white and blue bikini?  Somewhere at you tube Markus and Hannah created a swim video. She went swimming with them and what a wonderful time she had! That is a memory I will keep close to my heart.
Roxanne disliked her medicine time! She would fight you but Hannah created a little game with her. Roxanne would rollover on her back and cover her eyes. Hannah would say "Where's Roxanne? I have to find her." Roxanne would wag her tail in delight and open her eyes and she would sit up and take her medicine! I will often think of those days too. The tears are flowing now but the memories will last our lifetime.
January 19, 2012! The girls in black and white! How could something so tiny charge into ones heart and set up housekeeping there? We will probably never know, but Roxanne came and she stayed. The last month or so has been difficult and when I came home for lunch all the other dogs wait at the door to get a bit of sunshine. But Roxanne would hide in her bed. I would roll her up like a burrito and tell her we have to go potty! She seemed to love my game and she would reluctantly get out. She would do her business and wait for me to scoop her up again!
Roxanne was a fashion plate. She had a nice wardrobe. She loved lying in the sunshine when she felt good. When she first came to live with us she enjoyed the sunshine immensely. The vet thought she was used as a breeder and later dumped when she was no longer useful. She certainly enjoyed having the freedom to sun herself. How many little things we can take for granted. She loved to eat whole grain waffles with Jeremy! Often I would poach her chicken breast for her and she ate so heartily we had hoped perhaps a miracle would happen. But yesterday she just could not eat anymore.
I will remember this girl with the heartful of kisses, she shared herself with each one of us. She thought Rose our older cat was her sister and when she had a bad day Mickey our kitten would climb into her bed and hold her close. She loved sleeping next to him! Tonight he cried at the back door knowing his friend was crossing the Rainbow Bridge. I will choose to remember Roxanne dancing with Hannah to her song "Tiny Dancer". I will close my eyes and see her dancing for me when I offered her a treat. I will see her running to the back door racing passed the big dogs when I yelled who wants a S N A C K ? She was always first in line and when I offered each of them a bite of oven roasted turkey breast she would greedily eat her share and beg for more! I will remember how she loved being covered with a blanket and digging under the covers to get deep into the bed and snore loudly once she got comfortable! I will remember how her life was cruel and cold hearted when she was first born but I will never forget how deeply she affected each member of my phamily and how she touched the hearts of us and Bonnie and Markus too.
Halloween 2013,  tiny cow!

I hope you will visit Sally and I hope you will see some happy blues! I will leave you  with these lovely words because I choose to believe one day we will see Roxanne again on the other side of rainbow bridge.

And as I knelt beside a brook
To drink eternal life, I took
A glance across the golden grass,
And saw my dog, old Blacky, fast
As she could come. She leaped the stream---
Almost--- and what a happy gleam
Was in her eye. I knelt to drink,
And knew that I was on the brink
Of endless joy… John Piper

Pink Saturday

I am sharing lots of pinks in quotes today! This bicycle is sweet and the message is truthful! Life really is a balancing act and I try to keep the Lord at the center of my life!
Oh I long for Spring and the Winter has not yet set in! Sigh! Love these words and the pretty pink flowers.

I agree with Coco Chanel on this one.

I have been looking at these pretty and romantic bedrooms. This one has touches of pink!
HaHaHa! Actually I loved my thirties and forties and just got use to the fifties! Well that's going to change soon! But seriously I hope all your clocks fell back one hour!
Ok, so technically he is not pink but By Goodness, the turkey and Thanksgiving just don't get a fair shake! We go from Halloween to Christmas! I am going to enjoy hearing this fellow play me a tune!
Is your Thanskgiving menu planned? Do you cook? Do you go out? Do you travel far or near?
Now that November is here please enjoy every minute of it and visit Beverly and other pinkies today!
