"Z"ipping Down the Highway and Wondering if "A"lamosa and "A"dams State "B"elong in Nick's Future

Come visit Sally and all the wonderful people who participate in Blue Monday. Then hop over to Facebook and say hi to Marydon (MD Middaugh) so you can share a favorite Love is...or two. I know the Blue Crew will spot lots of blue in my photos and images I am sharing. I am late today as the weekend got away from me. Lots of yard work and too short of a weekend. Look at this precious Love is...
We have a clothes line in our yard and I love it! There is nothing like sheets that have been dried by the sun and smelling as fresh as a bouquet of Spring flowers!

We took a quick trip to Southwestern Kansas two weeks ago. Nick was finished with his second year of college and we went to Ark City to collect Nick and his things. The weather was good and we were glad we did not run into any big storms.
This was the return trip. Thirty four miles from home. It is wonderful to go on the road and more wonderful to come home again.
Traveling to Kansas we enjoyed the Colorado morning sky. It is so peaceful and quiet and when the sun starts to rise you have to smile.
Nick and his dad, my honey, saying goodbye to the Cowley College campus. Nick made some wonderful friends and will miss them as he journeys on to a new college.

Cowley runners 2012-13. Nick enjoyed meeting so many wonderful new friends.
Cowley Middle Distance runners enjoying some good grub before a race. Many memories.
Alamosa, Colorado. Three hours and thirty seven minutes from our home. Sigh! Love those mountains standing tall
The campus of Adams State College. Nick has looked into this fine school for 2013-14.

We will be heading in the oppose direction of Kansas if we see Nick head to Alamosa. He really loves OSU in Oklahoma where a good friend is going.  But unless a hefty scholarship comes his way he has to navigate the system and get the very best deal he can. In state tuition is always very reasonable. We will pray about it and see what happens.
I shared my late "Z" post, zipping down the highway here with my "A" post, lots of A's including Alamosa, Adams State College, and Ark City, Kansas. I hope you wish Ms.Jenny good health and say a prayer for her to get back to her old self soon. Visit some of the wonderful folks who share their  stories with us here as well as poetry, photos and lots of fun. Let's hope that a Colorado college will be the "Best" deal in Nick's future. Colorado "belongs" in our hearts as all of us in the phamily are Colorado natives. Let me add my "B" contribution to this delayed post.

A perfect "B" quote. Someday's I feel broken. Not in my home life but in my work place. I spend a great deal of time praying. It is the closeness with the Lord that I love. This world is fleeting. But God is forever and it is something that keeps me on an even balance.
This is a good way to look at life. Some people are true blessings. Others are lessons. Those lessons are often hard to take!

So I am going to zip away and hope you learned a little about Alamosa, Colorado and Adams State College as well as blessings and brokeness.

Memorial Day/Blue Monday/Love is...

Never forget!
Trust God and Pray.

I thought the blue skies and the sight of Old Glory would make for a good Blue Monday. Visit Sally and the Blue Crew today.
Stop by and visit MD Middaugh (Marydon) at Face Book. She often shares her Love is..there. Here I am with my glasses and my honey by my side. We are enjoying our long weekend. Spending some time watching programs regarding those who served, those who paid the ultimate price. Always remember, never forget.

Love is.../Blue Monday

After a long weekend, this is what we are doing! Sometimes you just need a little rest.
Love is...a sigh of contentment. Amen! We seem to over extend our weekend time. So relaxing and sighing  is a true sign of contentment.
Saturday May 18th we celebrated the first birthday of our friends Jen and Ivan's son Joaquin. He loves Monster, Ins. and Monsters University so it was his party theme. See the blue hats on your left? They cost a small fortunate at the toy stores. So the birthday boys daddy went to the Dollar Store. He paid $20 for 20 Army helmets. Then he went to the hardware store and paid $8 for two cans of spray paint. He sprayed the heck out of those helmets until they looked like the pricey upscale hats! He added a sticker to make them look perfect and all the little ones there loved their hats.
Dad Ivan (in blue) and little Joaquin in his Monsters Inc. lime green outfit, enjoy a moment.
The blue helmet hats and goodie bags. Pretty in blue.
Lots of packages decked out in blue too.
These are the Monsters Inc. candy pops that mom Jen made. They tasted really yummy too. It was a fun birthday for a sweet little boy. Sometime I will tell you the cute love story of Jen and Ivan. He loved her the moment he met her and they have been married  one year ago earlier this month.
Please visit  Sally and all the Blues too.

Love is.../Blue Monday

Laughing Out Loud! This is us! We always cook more than one dish at a time and then there is the clean up! Don't let this little cartoon fool you. I am not sitting back resting while my hubby is cleaning up! We do it together!

My pretty Mother framed words from my middle. I love butterflies and can you see the pretty blue one in the photo?

Hannah and me for Mother's Day 2014. She is wearing a blue top and I have blue jeans on!
I hope you will visit Sally and all the Blues and join the fun. Have a wonderful week.

Going to head to Kansas to pick up Nick at school.  Prayers appreciated for the long car ride and a safe journey. Lots of bad weather everywhere, please pray.  Prayers for Jeremy and Steve both interviewing for job promotions. Prayers for Maria hospitalized with cancer. Prayers for Raymond and Chris both newly diagnosed with cancer. Prayers for everyone effected by the wrath of this weather that seems to be causing destruction everywhere.

Happy Mother's Day!/Young At Heart

                                                             “When God Created Mothers"

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of "overtime" when the angel appeared and said. "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And God said, "Have you read the specs on this order?" She has to be completely washable, but not plastic. Have 180 moveable parts...all replaceable. Run on black coffee and leftovers. Have a lap that disappears when she stands up. A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair. And six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said. "Six pairs of hands.... no way."

It's not the hands that are causing me problems," God remarked, "it's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."

That's on the standard model?" asked the angel. God nodded.

One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, 'What are you kids doing in there?' when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say. 'I understand and I love you' without so much as uttering a word."

God," said the angel touching his sleeve gently, "Get some rest tomorrow...."

I can't," said God, "I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick...can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger...and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower."

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed.

But tough!" said God excitedly. "You can imagine what this mother can do or endure."

Can it think?"

Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told You that You were trying to put too much into this model."

It's not a leak," said the Lord, "It's a tear."

What's it for?"

It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride."

You are a genius, " said the angel.

Somberly, God said, "I didn't put it there.

In celebration of Mother's Day I thought I would share my "Y" post for Ms. Jenny. If you love you will always stay young at heart ! Today we had a nice visit with some of the phamily. My niece Katie graduated from the Masters program at the Colorado School of Mines. It was nice to visit with her and see both of my brothers and nieces and nephews too. The weather was  bit cooler than we like it but it was good to visit and catch up with those we don't see often.

My favorite Mother's Day photo of my mom and I. Missing her during this weekend. She was always a good listener and I could talk with her about anything.
My honey and his mom. They are both pretty in pink for Beverly and all the Pinkies! My hubby says she was the best cook and as a child she created many wonderful desserts!

Our mothers were always young at heart. They raised phamilies while their husbands worked. Both of our dads were steel workers. My father in the rail mill and his as a guard! They were people of good quality. They had faith and respect and love for each other and their children.

It is good to share memories of those we love and during Mother's Day we remember their kindness, their struggles, their joy and most of all love for us.

Proverbs 23:22-24

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.  Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.  The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving

A Naughty Kitten, The Grace of God and More Phamily News

This is actually a distance runner quote, but if you knew Mr. Tiger, our kitten, oh Lord, why do you insist on giving me more grey hair than I want?
Saturday May 3rd was our 30th wedding anniversary. We had to keep it low key because of Jeremy's sudden surgery and a number of other  life issues! So we started out having lunch with three of our kids, Jeremy, Noelle and Hannah and grandson Colton. We were treated to a nice meal at the Texas Roadhouse. We watched the Kentucky Derby, rooted for California Chrome owned by blue collar folks) and we getting ready to enjoy our pretty anniversary cake with the phamily. Rebekah came running up the stairs, telling her dad not to let me down there but he had to come see what was wrong with the kitty!
My boy Boots was born on our wedding anniversary 16 years ago. I lost him March 16, 2012, Rose's birthday two years ago. I did not need anymore feline sadness. Hannah had lost precious Roxanne on November 3, 2013 to cancer and we were at the end of our ropes!
Although this kitty looks quite sad, when I heard our kitten was ill, I thought don't do this to me again so soon Lord, please no more sorrow no more death!
Sleepy kitty, sleepy kitty. Ah,  why couldn't he sleep? No he has to roam around until he gets into so much mischief! When my hubby went downstairs he was sadly lying on the bed with a disgusting foul smiling sticky gel like liquid drooling out of his mouth. He was pale and when I went to him, he looked up at  me with  the most pathetic "Meow"! Jeremy had gone to watch his buddies play their final touch football game so he and his best bud the Bird came rushing room. They took Mr. Kitty to the emergency vet along with my hubby.

A calm kitty. I love when he is sweet and easy. Most times he is terrorizing the red dot with my hubby! The two of them are wicked together! After $347 worth of IV's, medications and one very expensive call to Poison Control, they determined he bit into an electrical cord! So home he came, worn out but very sleepy and very angry that that shot him full of drugs! He slept for the entire night at my feet and woke up Sunday morning to eat his regular food. When I gave him the super deluxe, soft food, he pooh poohed it, walked over to his regular dish and dug in! He is one tough kitty. Having survived this and his first birthday (April 30) I am wanting to enjoy many years of good days with this furry friend. He gave us quite a scare.

I needed this Saturday. God has been at my side through all the days of my life. I know He will always be there for me.

I try not to doubt but when that kitten was so sick, my mind raced and I was thinking, why is he going to be taken from me? I never expected such a miracle. It was a miracle that little dickens survived!
Wednesday morning, the hubby and I will be traveling down the road to Kansas. Nick will be finished with his second year of college and we get to collect him and all his things. It will be a quick trip. He has class until 1:30 Thursday afternoon and the hubby can not take the entire day off on Friday so we have to drive 9 hours back  and get a little rest before heading to work at noon on Friday. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated. Once Nick gets home he will talk with the surgeon about his leg surgery and get back on the road to recovery for a new school year at a new college.  Hopefully he will have news for us when we get to his school on Wednesday afternoon. My hubby likes to drive with the help of his favorite McDonald's iced coffee. We stop at so many McDonald's for this caffeine jolt  I'd say we need stock in the company, but McDonald's is starting to bring their meat from China so no thank you! I will enjoy an order of french fries or a yogurt parfait otherwise I steer clear of them.
A thoughtful verse from the Book of Romans. It is something my father talked about in his life. Trust God, let go of the ways of this world. In the end He will prevail.

Before I close, please pray for the five year old daughter of Edgar and Amanda. Caroleena "Leena" is once again hospitalized. This GI business is getting so difficult for the whole phamily. The hospital removed her appendix, three weeks ago, one week ago, her gall bladder. Yet she is back in the hospital and seeing a team of G.I. specialists again. The pain is hard for the parents to bear, to see their child suffering so much. Please continue to pray for her. Enjoy the week and thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers for Jeremy. He was released to go back to work tomorrow so pray he has a good interview for the new job he would like to have.
Finally please pray for my sweet friend  Lavoice. She became very ill last week and they are having a tough time diagnosing what is wrong. If you would like to send a card to her contact me at my e mail phamilybusienss1@aim.com so I can pass her address on to you. Thank you.
For my sweet friend LaVoice who I had the pleasure of meeting a few years ago. She is an absolute delight.
