FRIDAY FUN AND MORE

Ha Ha Ha ! I noticed Brody tried to get into a box last time we watched him. Instead of playing with very pricey little cars and trucks! Oye! Cats are the same as toddlers. Give me the box, forget those silly toys. Our felines are hiding from the heat today so no photos for me. They are pretending they are in the Feline Witness Protection Program! Tell Brian hi and join the feline funnies today.

I do not have terrific handwriting but my two left handed brothers and one right handed sister have perfect penmanship!  I do not like like seeing art that is dying. I worked with a lady, Barb D. who had huge platinum blonde hair and perfectly tailored Chanel suits. Full face make up and very simple jewelry. She would do calligraphy and it was perfection. Too many art forms slipping away.

I need a daily reminder to keep my faith strong in a world kind to everyone but faithful followers of God. Makes me sad but I know He is there and the good news is, He loves every one of us.

Someone needs to hear these affirmations and Scripture verses today. Never think you are alone. The One who created you loves you.

THANKFUL THURSDAY: NOSTALGIA

June will be here soon. The months leave me so quickly. I am trying to play catch but the bottom line with blogging. I LOVE IT!

Do you remember the old song "Time in a Bottle?" by the late Jim Croce?  I was at a friends post at social media and remembering my youth and things kids today would not understand. So I decided to just write a post.

Can you imagine kids today having to actually dial a phone? These phones were sturdy and lasted a lifetime. In fact when my sister Mary inherited Grandma S's home she had to take the land line out. I am sure that phone is in the Smithsonian. They would even type your phone number on the little card by the dial!

I doubt people today have the patience for party lines. We shared our phone line with a phamily with three teenage daughters! Once after working a double shift my dad needed a ride home. He was a steel worker. Although he was humble and kind let's just say he was not at all amused that he could not get through the phone line to reach my mom to come pick him up! I wish I were more like him, Even dog tired from working a double shift he never ever uttered an inappropriate word.

For a dollar you could walk out of Bollinger's Confectionery with at least this  much penny candy. My goodness how we loved to browse through all the  candy choices back in my day. Even the gentleman and his sisters who worked in the store were "vintage".

Vintage candy is pricey today but there was a time.....

Gum was popular when I was a kid. This is from the 1950's. I'm not sure I was chewing gum yet. But this is a well known brand from back in the day. Do you remember sin sin? I think you can still find it. I remember all the adults were smokers when I was a kid and they used sin sin,  a licorice based little square smaller than a fingernail to have fresh breathe.

1960 dances: The express "good old days" is so true. Music, dancing, the way we lived, it was all such fun.Listening to the radio, imagining different images inside your mind while listening to music and stories or baseball games. Today people are so  busy burying their heads in cell phones and other electronics. It's a sad world. Talking with each other has become a thing of the past. THankful for my phamily and heritage which I cherish.

A friend of mine shared this fun find with me. Many of us who grew up in a sLOVEnian neighborhood use the slang term "Bojon". Apparently there are sLOVEnian people who consider this equal to being racist. I think today, people take things too far, way too far. The gentleman who researched this article was a high school teacher of mine. He also attended school with my older brother Ed. I Love the info he presented here. I love all the stories my paternal grandfather told me as a child. Although he had no desire to return to his roots, he was grateful to be an American citizen. He worked hard to make that happen. My grandfather would never have told me any lies and therefore I will treasure all my conversations I had with him and all the time I spent with him. I lost him in 1968 and I was in the 8th grade. I wish I Had more photos of him.

This is their wedding anniversary , I believe this was 60 years. My grandmother was a teen when she married. Different times and people with a faith in God, love of their phamily and they worked hard to come to the USA. They were married May 22, 1905. Grandma was 16 and Grandpa was 22. I am sure my aunt Mary (Mima) their daughter baked that cake or one of her relatives by marriage did. I wish my grandfather were here to see this article my former teacher researched. He would smile and he would have loved it.

Joining Brian on Thankful Thursday. If your a prayer warrior pray for our Hannah as she heads to Buffalo, NY for a long weekend. Her dear friend Jana is getting married in September. The bridal shower is this weekend and she was excited to go. Hoping and praying her flight is easy and arrives safely.

Tuesday Show and Tails/ Maxine Cracks Me Up/ Scripture/ My BoJon Heritage/

Master Leo, this gentle giant is the protector of the tiny parade of pups at our house. He is not much of a feline fan. But he will protect those puppies. He is so handsome and I am so happy Hannah brought him into our lives. He is my share for my tribute to Tuesday Show and Tail. I am hopeful, one day, Angela will come back and join the fun, since she originally started the trend.You can go over to Happy Tuesday and share your happiest today with Sandee and friends.

Maxine is on point today unlike most days when she is a negative Nelly.

I have to be careful with Maxine, sometime she has a naughty mouth. Today, she was perfect and to the point. Amen!

My niece Holly (and Karla) and their dad Bob. He was a Vietnam vet. Unfortunately the ways of war ended his life too soon. We never know truly what these men saw during their time at war. We can only hold their memory in our hearts and remember their sacrifice.

My dad's baby sister Millie and her handsome hubby Uncle Sam. His grandson Julian followed his footsteps in the US Army while grandson Tommy choose the US Navy.

Indulge me this week while I share some of the heroes in our phamily and friends who served our country. May your week be filled with kindness and all good things.

MEMORIAL DAY/ MEMORIES/AW.....MONDAYS AND MORE

Remembering those who served and did not return, all the military who served and especially Jason Smith (USA) who served three tours in Afghanistan, Tommy (USN) the son of my cousin MaryJo, Julian (USA) the son of my cousin Juliane and Tristan (USN), the grandson via marriage of Betsy Her great -grand daughter was born today while daddy is on the USS Abraham Lincoln on a mission out of the country. Remember each one who served. Thank them all for your freedom.

The kids, Lulu, Thor, Finn, Molly and Loki. Say hello to Sandee at Aw....Mondays and share some love. This bunch of cuties want treats and they know when those treats are near.

The memories of all the wars we have recorded in history books makes me sad. Yet, I am grateful to those who served. Today I read so many tributes to parents and brothers and sisters and husbands and wives. I Love learning about my friends loved ones who served. Never take your freedom for granted.

War is hell. I can not imagine the fear and sadness these men and women suffers through.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND MORE

This quote really speaks volumes about the type of leader General George S. Patton was. We need to remember, we need these kinds of soldiers in our military unless we wish to do ourselves in. Thank you all for your service, those who are still here, those who gone before us and those serving today. You are a special person giving so much for so little in return.

Never forget. Please never forget.

My hubby took a few photos for my dress Up Challenge Day 25.

I like the Amelia dress. It is patriotic in red/white/blue for today's photo. It is comfy to dress and easy to toss in the wash and hang to dry. I enjoy the Dress Up Challenge.

I always have to add a little humor. This one, is funny and came by way of Loretta, a New Mexico native who served our country in the Middle East. She has a silly sense of humor except when it comes to her service. She was proud to serve America and loves her country dearly. Thank you for your service, Loretta.

Social media, I Have to chuckle or else I would cry. This humor makes me S M I L E !

The wedding of my mother's baby sister Jo to Uncle Tom. He was in the Army Air Corp. in WWII. He was a remarkable man and they were two kind hearts. always missing them. Thinking of my uncle and his service to our country.

Feline Friday/ Memorial Weekend

 This was my boy Boots. There will never be another feline friend like him. He was kind, kinder than most folks could imagine ,including myself. He was a gift, a precious friend, a rare gem. Once he left me I never dreamed I could have another feline. I was in for a surprise. The pest can not replace my Boots but he sure makes my life a comedy someday's.

This a pest. A feline menace. He tried my patience every single day. He likes to be up close and personal and sometimes I have to build a wall to block him from my space. He is terribly whiny. He likes his way and he is very naughty to the new puppies. But he was a hoot as a kitten, destroyed toilet paper and other paper products in his path and his innocence was hard to ignore. He is the exact opposite of Boots yet somehow I cannot imagine him not being here. He is a diva of sorts, likes to annoy people and pets. If we stop believing in Old Glory, if we forget those who gave their lives so we may live free, we will destroy ourselves. Blood was spilled, families were broken, children were without a parent because their loved ones choose your freedom over their own lives.

Just a reminder, there is another kind of freedom too.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST; MISPRINTED CHURCH BULLETIN FUNNIES

I put this post up in 2011. It was so cute, I had to re share it. I Put another blog post about Children at my Face Book page. The old stuff was the best. Today so many people have a grudge against you if you do not think and say exactly everything they believe in. So immature, so hateful, so vile. Instead of this bitter taste some things and people have left in my mouth lately, here is a laugh. Hope you enjoy it. Don't they know, you catch more flies with honey and not vinegar?

Weight Watchers will meet at 7 p.m. at the first Presbyterian church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.

The 1991 spring council retreat will be hell May 10 and 11.

Pastor is on vacation. Massages can be given to church secretary.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed, due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

Mrs. Johnson will be entering the hospital this week for testes.

The senior choir invites any member of the congregation who enjoys sinning to join the choir.

Please join us as we show our support for Amy and Alan in preparing for the girth of their first child.

Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles, and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

The Lutheran men’s group will meet at 6 p.m. Steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread and dessert will be served for a nominal feel.

The associate minister unveiled the church’s new tithing campaign slogan last Sunday: “ I Upped My Pledge—Up Yours.”

For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

The rosebud on the alter this morning is to announce the birth of David Alan Belzer, the sin of Rev and Mrs. Julius Belzer.

This afternoon there will be a meeting in the south and north ends of the church. Children will be baptized at both ends.

Tuesday at 4PM there will be an ice cream social. All ladies giving milk will please come early.

Wednesday, the Ladies Liturgy Society will meet. Mrs. Jones will sing “Put me in my Little Bed” accompanied by the pastor.

Thursday at 5PM there will be a meeting of the Little Mothers Club. All wishing to become Little Mothers, please see the minister in his private study.

This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Lewis to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.

The service will close with “Little Drops of Water”. One of the ladies will start (quietly) and the rest of the congregation will join in.

Next Sunday, a special collection will be taken to defray the cost of the new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the new carpet will come forward and get a piece of paper.

The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind and they may be seen in the church basement Friday.

A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow.

We have snow! After torrential rains all day long on Monday this happened.

I think Elsa is stubborn...

I am a life long native of Colorado. This is what I did this morning after pushing a heavy snow off my car so I could go to the store.

Gee even when you are polite, they don't listen!

In the lower left corner I took the first photo last week while this bush in our yard began to bloom. This morning, it looks like this. The snow was very heavy. The lower right hand corner says Hey Elsa, the rest of us are C O L D !

This is a google image from Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. My high school friend lives near there and she is anticipating 70 degree temps and lots of blooms on her flowers. All in all it has been a Happy Tuesday Join Sandee and friends for some happiness.
