As a young wife and mother I always wished I could have stayed home full time with my children when they were younger. I know the women's lib movement would tear their hair out hearing this but even today now that my kids are older I really think this is the best career ever!
I was blessed because my Sweets and I passed in the doorway coming and going with our kids. We found a teen age babysitter who was very responsible so if our days overlapped she would watch the kids until the other parent got home! Our kids were always happy and healthy in their own home. It was the best situation we could afford!
So if you can bake cookies instead of having a career, just do it! I think your kids will appreciate your sacrifice, although they might not show it until later in life.
Recently my Sweets celebrated a birthday! Our middle daughter bought him a book titled "Why A Daughter Needs A Dad" (100 Reasons). It is filled with photos and simple verses about being a father to your daughter. Our middle wrote her own thoughts on sticky notes and placed them under the other quotes. It really made us both feel wonderful that having one of us always available to talk with her in difficult situations was a tremendous blessing. She felt that we were always there for her no matter if she was having a good time or bad! We were glad we could be there for our kids when they were younger and now they can be there for us as we get older!
This little Love is...is tiny so I hope you can read it ok. Then you can visit Marydon and share your Love is...with all of us.

This is so true about kids blossoming with lots of attention from both parents, and I like how you arranged to always have home base covered. We did much the same thing.
ReplyDeleteLife is so hard - and I think you have done a great job. A lot of people or moms can't do this or don't do it...
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to have won the LOVE IS!! Hurray!! Thank you so very much. I didnt get to stay home until my son was 11 so always wished I could have stayed home when they were little. We all try to do the best we can, its all we can do! Hugs, Kim
ReplyDeleteYou are completely right. If you can stay home with your kids then do it. I stayed home with mine and just tried to do things to earn money from the home. My children are all grown now, and thank me all the time for being at home with them.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Kim. I ope she does join us on Monday Love Is...
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Anne. Homemaker Mother is the best title ever. I was able to do this 50/50. We always tried to make sure one parent was home with the kid-lings.
Hope all was quiet & restful for you this weekend, sweet friend.
Have a great week ~

Huggers,

Our daughter grew up in my classroom at school and was always with me before and right after school until we got home. And her daddy was farming with grandpa & grandma right close by. My mom would take her to dance lessons after driving an hour to get to our house. We were blessed, and now I have a new son. Easiest way to get one is to have the daughter get married!♥♫
ReplyDeleteYou personify family love, Miss Anne.
ReplyDeleteThis was lovely.
I always felt SOOOO guilty when my kids were growing up and I had to work, but I had to support them on my own. They both grew to be fine adults as God was always on our side!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful solution to parenting. So thankful you were able to give your children one of you always.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful post...
