I am joining Jenny today for Alphabe Thursday. What fun!
I am going to post about tea today! I love tea! In the summer I love iced coffee and some time I do love hot coffee in the winter. But I have found so many wonderful benefits of tea!
I had a bad case of heartburn the other evening! I had just opened the mail and received a catalog from The Republic of Tea. They included a sample tea bag of a super tea called Pomegranate Green Tea! Oh My Goodness! I reused that little bag three times! I added a teaspoon of Wild honey to my cup and my heartburn was gone after the first cup! I am now waiting for my order to arrive. I purchased a 50 count tea tin of the green tea with pomegranate and also a blackberry sage tea! I am going to give this wonderful company lots of business. There are dozens of teas that I want to try. I am sorry but they are number one on my list and being a Colorado native I do like to give my business to Celestial Seasonings. But a lot of the flavorful teas they make contain soy lecithin. That junk gives me a migraine headache! So when I read the label and saw the pomegranate green tea had zero soy lecithin I was a happy camper!
So please try their tea today. Let me know your favorite flavors of tea. I am always looking for new tea to try and also any other brands that are good!
Funny story here! I was shopping at Wal-Mart one day with a co worker for office supplies and we were looking for some lunch items. We walked down the tea aisle and found a cheap box of tea called Carrington tea. Now thinking it would be fun and elegant like the old Dynasty series on T.V. ages ago we each bought a box. It was ninety seven cents a box! It was awful tea! Tasted like dirt! Ha Ha! We had a good laugh over that one!
Now I am going to share a few photos of my own here with the tea collection items I have! Lots of my tea stuff is still in our storage here but I have a few items to share. The Republic of Teas images are courtesy of the company.
I hope you will enjoy a cup of tea with me! Go visit Jenny and all the participates of Alphabe Thursday!
I found some sweet Love is....on line in color! Free images! I have downloaded many of my own collection but recently blogger has been giving me fits trying to upload images so I am taking the easy road today!
I also wanted to share this with you about childhood and parenting:
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
~Diane Loomans, from "If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again"
Please visit Marydon and all the other participates of Love is... Next stop by and visit Sally. As our fearless Blue Monday leader she has gone through some tough times with her health. We are glad she is back with us and on the mend nicely! Love you Sally!
I shot a few pictures with my camera phone this morning. The rec area where we walk/run is closed for repairs until September 6th so we have been going to the middle school and I walk the track while my hubby runs. I use to walk the straights and run the curves and visa versa. I may try to do that tomorrow. We try to go early but with the time fading quickly and the darkness still surrounding us at six a.m. I am not sure how many week days we can still head over there.
I love watching the clouds roll by and this morning they literally did. I shot this one because I thought it looked like a quilt! It is as close to crafty quilting as I can get! When I came back around the sky was totally different.
I had so many things to write about and then the heat started to rise here. It is hard to work when you are overheated!
I want to share some simple verses today. All about friendship. You all need to know that sometime I can not always answer personally but I love you bunches and appreciate your kind hearts and friendship.
"Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise but the companion of fools will suffer harm." Proverbs 13:20
"Do not be deceived: bad company ruins good morals. " 1 Corinthians 15:33
"And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them." Luke 6:31
"Iron sharpens iron and one man sharpens another. " Proverbs 27:17
Jesus Himself said this about friendship: " This is my commandment that you love one and other as I have loved you. Greater has no one then this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you . No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends , for all that I have heard from My Father, I have made known to you. " John 15:12-15
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded." James 4:8
The message is simple. Choose your friends carefully, treat your friends as you would like to be treated and know the importance of friendship. Listen to Jesus and what he said about friendship and trust God as your number one friend.
Search the bible There are many friendships that are detailed there. Ruth 1:16-17, 1 Samuel 18:1-3, Job 2:11 and 2 Kings 2:2.
I was looking for something fun to share today! I "borrowed" the Pink's logo. This hot dog joint has been in business for 71 years! Wow! That is truly amazing. It is located in Southern California in Hollywood. Their menu is very impressive and their prices are actually very affordable!
I love hot dogs! I love grilling them in the summer. That is when they are the very best. So I am going to show you how I like my dogs here:
Grilled to perfection, I do prefer a foot long but we only had short dogs! Then I like a good dollop of mustard! Some sauerkraut and cheese! I love crumbled bacon too if available but you get what you get when you haven't gone to the grocery store yet!
I also like the poppy seed buns but these are just standard hot dog buns from Costco. They are cheap and tasty!
So now that you see my favorite junk food here stop by and visit Beverly and thank her for her ongone support of Pink Saturday each week. She works really hard ot keep us organized. She is a wonderful lady and if you don't know her go say hi and tell her I sent you! Then visit lots of pinkies. They are cool.
I have a different "S" post today! I think it is super! I love our pets. My son J has three dogs, two of them are "S" names! Smokey the boxador and Stella the blue heeler mix! But I simply adore CHRISTmas! So I do love some snowmen! So here is my S post story.
My oldest is moving back to the North area. She is Noelle! She was born in December! HeeHee! She gets that all the time, are you a CHRISTmas baby!? So in the process of her move she has a set of 12 Snowmen dishes! So cute! The photos are not the greatest! But she was trying to sell them! I thought they would look superb with my red Pavillion Princess House plates. So they are sitting in my overstuffed garage! I am the new owner of them! Sweet! So here are photos of Smokey, Stella and the Snowmen!
They are my "S" post for Alphabe Thursday! Now visit me here and then step over to Jenny's and say hi! Please visit as many "S" participates as you can!
Here are the Snowmen dishes! So sweet! So charming for a CHRISTmas dinner with phamily and friends!
Here is Smokey. This dog is so silly. He reminds us of a cartoon character! He will sit up in a chair if you ask him nicely. Having a treat nearby doesn't hurt either! He was not interested in posing tonight! Such a celebrity! Hee Hee!
Here is Stella. She was a dog J found three years ago. Someone had dumped her and she was skittish for the first two and a half years. She is much better but hates posing for pictures. She is like a dog in the witness protection program. I think she knows maybe someone who hurt her might be looking over their shoulder . I think she is very happy with us. She just isn't much into photo ops.
Now have a super evening and go visit some S posts soon!
Ah, it is a blue Monday! We will have high 90's for or temperatures today! I have had it with this heat! Then I tired to forward my blue photo of sweet little Ari "chillin at the college" with her mommy! So here is a photo of she and I at the baby shower two weekends ago!
I am in the lavender dress and Ari is wearing her fashionable blues! She is such a character! We really love her! She is a thoughtful and sweet baby girl!
My kids are all back to school today. Nick is already in his first hour senior year of high school class! Jeremy, Rebekah and Hannah leave later this morning and afternoon for another year of college. A final one for Jeremy. He has a full schedule and took his teaching certification test two weeks ago. Hoping and praying he did really well. Rebekah will start student teaching and Dr. K. at Nick's high school is anxious to share her with another teacher! She is a literature major and Dr. K. is a Brit with a Ph.D. in Literature! He is an excellent role model. Hannah is starting her third year. She is leaning toward early childhood education. I think she will fit perfectly into the role!
I have a new PCP appointment today. I need my thyroid labs redone. Dr. P. who I work for has been following me and I want a PCP office with their own lab. I hate to chase around half the day running all everywhere. One of my favorite T.V. actors Hill Harper is a thyroid cancer survivor so I am always very careful about watching my numbers!
Stop by and say hi to Sally. She is recuperating nicely so let's keep praying. Enjoy the week!
I really don't live for my sweet hubby. I live for the one who died for me. Jesus Christ. I wanted to incorporate this Love is...today with my Spiritual Sunday post. So here is my tribute to love. Love of my phamily. Love of my sweet man and love mostly importantly Our Savior.
Please join Marydon and all the participates of Love is... Although Marydon will be traveling she may not be able to post today so let's all post and make her smile when she returns from her trip.
Then stop by Charlotte and Ginger and thank them for sharing each weekend with us and encouraging each other with Spiritual Sunday.
I borrowed this lovely verse from Zephaniah 3:12 from Linda. She is always so gracious to share God's love with everyone. Stop by and say hi to her. You may tell her I sent you.
Now for the winner of the hand blown tea pot. Drum roll.....
Thank Hannah my lovely daughter who drew the name of:....

I usually don't post about liquor because I have some friends that have been sober for a long time but I do have an occasional drink. I like wine and I like fru fru drinks like Pina Coladas. When I was younger I liked tequila and occasionally still have a Margarita but I like a old fashioned ones that are on the rocks (less calories) or are of the "Perfect" variety with Grand Marnier and Agave tequila. But at my grandson's baby shower last weekend I donated some gifts to be given away! One of them was the cutest set of blue Libbey wine glasses with a bttle of Blue Moon Riesling wine. It is made in the USA in Oregon and the winner of that gift was my grandson's best friend Nick's mom. She loved the wine! So I am thinking of tracking down another bottle so I can try it! I often buy what I like in a variety of brands. Once I was looking for a good bottle of red dinner wine and came across, quite by accident, Love Your Goat! It is made in upstate New York! It is wonderful wine with a nice Italian dinner.
So tonight for the letter "R" I am writing this post about Riesling wine. It is a sweeter and more dry and I enjoy sharing a glass with a friend occasionally.
The sweet white grape is flowery and perfumed and highly acidic Germany is the primary grower of these beautiful grapes. Then Alsace (France), Australia, New Zealand, Austria, the U.S. and Canada. South Africa, China, Austria, Czech Republic, Northern Italy, Ukraine, Luxembourg. In the countries where it is cultivated Riesling is commonly grown in the colder regions and locations. Now please stop by Jenny's and visit all the participates of this weekly fun meme.
Good morning! I have been wanting to share this Kenny Chesney video with you and I snapped this blue bench at the trail this weekend. If you look closely there is a small blue child's shoe on the corner.
Stop by Sally's and wish her well.
"Miracles come in moments. Be ready and willing." Wayne Dryer

I tend to be long winded so today I will try to put into few words what I felt when I lost my unborn daughter Rachel Lee in 1987.
I was happily carrying this new life when she stopped moving. A quick trip to the doctor told me what I already knew in my heart and did not want to deal with. The cold, clinical medical term they use is "fetal demise". That fateful day March 27, 1987 took me into what I perceived to be a living hell. The doctor was cold and heartless, he thought, at my age, 33, I was ancient and did not need to try to have more children! Well folks, God fooled him! I had three more beautiful children after that tragic loss. When God closes a door he opens bay windows!
I was tossed into such a mental despair, one I had never known. I found little comfort in my tiny companion "Casey" a little cockapoo I had. He would never get on our bed but he would stand at the side with his head cocked and his paws forward looking at me with soulful eyes telling me somehow I would survive.
Because I have a V.P. shunt inside my head for hydrocephalus the doctor said I had to wait to deliver my baby, a tiny light taken from me before I could fully know her! She was delivered by a kind and caring young resident on the evening of April 17, 1987. They let me hold her and I had my grieving turn into a nightmare of helplessness and despair. She was perfect in every way but sometime God has other plans for us.
One week after her birth I started to hemorrhage. I remember seeing my entire life flashing before me. I remember the last words the doctor told my hubby before I went out! He said I needed blood transfusions and the last thing he should think about was HIV as if I contracted Hep C I would be doomed.
I remember coming around later that day and a lovely kindhearted nurse was standing at my side getting the transfusion ready. I remember praying and I felt God's presence there with me. He whispered gently into my ear "It is going to be alright." I felt His hand on me and I knew I would never worry about anything that day because He was lifting me up in His hands.
Because I had the transfusions I can not donate blood, as I have been told this repeatedly. But I campaign for blood donations and if you can please give, because you are giving life.
I want to tell you that nothing is impossible with God and you should trust Him wholeheartedly. He is the supreme being who rules our world. Trust Him. He will always lift you out of despair and into His light.
I am praying for Charlie and his family today and all the wonderful volunteers of the Miracle Makeover. I am a true example that miracles happen Now leave those comments, donate some blood if you can and trust in the One that holds this wicked old world in His hands! "For by grace you have been saved by faith. And this is not your own doing;it is the gift of God, not a result of works so that no one may boast." Ephesians :-8-9
I am giving away a hand blown teapot from Princess House. It is a beautiful teapot with an infuser and lid and it is hand cut with the PH Heritage design. Just post a comment here and you might be the lucky winner! I will draw the winner next Saturday at 9 P.M. MDT August 20th, my baby boy's 18th birthday!
Take my button on the sidebar please! It will earn you an extra entry! Spread the news! Hurry don't be late, then you can plan your own special tea party for two or twenty!

The baby shower for my grandson Andrew and his honey Tarrah was a huge success! They got so many wonderful things for the new little one due September 2011. He will be Jayden and I will be a first time great grandmother! Gee, I always thought great grammies were really old ladies and I am such a cool, hip mama! Ha Ha! I will love that little guy just like I love all of my phamily!
Here is some pretty blue punch that my sweet girl Noelle, a very youthful grandmother of three currently made for the special day!
Oops, the rubber duckies turned over! They drank too much punch! The punch was delicious. It was blue flavored Hawaiian Punch and vanilla ice cream with pineapple juice. Yummy stuff!
Now please visit Sally and wish her well. She is currently rehabbing after an extensive hospital stay! We love you Sally and are praying hard so you will be as good as new very soon!
More shower pictures later this week!
I tried to re posted one of my Alphabe Thursday posts for the letter Q. I love quaint so I wanted to re post it! Then I started thinking about our son Nick! He is not a quitter yet he is suffering from pain in his hips and his coach wants him to "suck it up" and run! He is going to see the doctor later today but keep him in your prayers. His I.T. band has been giving him a lot of trouble.
He has been talking with lots of his buddies. One young man is studying at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Another, the University of Arkansas. Their common thread bonding them together? They are all runners. I write this today because yesterday my doc saw a 16 year old kid for a tonsil abcess. This is a painful and horrible medical problem to deal with! So when he was done the doc told me to schedule a follow up appointment for 10-14 days. School starts on August 22nd. So the young man said can I make it a different day! we chose Wedesday and his mom piped up "But you have foooootball praaaaactice!" The kid made me smile. He said "I don't care about football right now! I am hurting. Once I get this taken care of I can go back!"
I don't want to attack anyone who is related to a "coach" in any way. But sometime they get overbearing. Perhaps their dreams did not play out exactly as the had hoped. So they want to see those dreams in someone self. They want winners! Everybody wants to be a winner! Yet life often steps in and injury occurs. We can see the best doctors, get the best therapy and move on. Yet sometime these coaches want more!
We watched Nick's friend run on ESPN at the U of Arkansas. He said he realized how coaches really did not care when he was told to run with a stress fracture! He came in 4th! The pain in his face was too much for me to bear. He is a good kid. Came here from the other side of the world having lost his family in war and devastation! He deserves better.
My baby is going to see his primary care doctor. I know what he is going to say and the coach is not going to like it. But as my doctor always says, "Oh really, you went to medical school, where????" I love it. We all have our highs and our lows. Let's go back to what we learned in the kindergarten. We might just find out something new about ourselves.
I leave you on Alphabe Thursday with this video. about quitters.
Sorry that the video duplicated itself! Blogger and I don't like each other very well.
ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school. These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living. Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together. Ah...the good life! I always dream about it! I would love to lie on a beautiful white beach and walk along the shore of a beautiful crystal clear ocean! Listen to the waves pounding against the shore and collecting sea shells and maybe even enjoy whale watching! Ah....the good life.
But until I can make that dream come true I will recharge my battery with my honey by resting in his arms and enjoying what we have today,
We have fun, lots of fun. we laugh alot and I think that is a good thing. So today I want to share this Love is... with everyone.
Now please visit Marydon and Sherry and all the other participates of our Love is...
I m hoping to have another giveaway here soon so you will have to participate. Once you have your very own collection of these sweet little reminders of love you will love coming over and sharing your own with us.
Enjoy the week and when you visit Sherry make a note to go back next weekend for the Miracle Makeover Party. Each comment earns one dollar toward another fabulous makeover by Kelee
My son Jeremy is at this moment taking his teaching certification test. It is five hours long and he has to be prepared to know his history from 500 B.C. to the present! That is just one section of it. Please pray. This is Jeremy "The Godfather" to cousin Sarah. He was the god parent with my niece Karla for her sister's daughter. The above photo was their league championship basketball win! He is the fifth guy on the back row on your right.
I know he is smart , and he will celebrate 26 years of life this Tuesday August 9th. But he is very much like me and I know he is fearful and worrisome. So I asked the Lord and as always he gave this verse to me today.
"A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16:9
It is so simple and yet so beautiful and meaningful. So I decided to ask for prayer for my son and use this to celebrate my participation in Spiritual Sunday. I hope you will stop by and thank Charlotte and Ginger for hosting this weekly encouragement. I feel like we receive so much from Spiritual Sunday. I hope you will join me in thanking them for their wonderful dedication and constant involvement in this joyful meme. Me with my Sweets and Nick, XC State Championship 2009.
Then I want to chat for a moment and talk with my "secret" pen pal. She sent me my very first letter, hand written today. It was postmarked Seattle, Washington! I am already jealous. We have never traveled there and I would love to visit. My Sweets is a long time fan of the late Bruce Lee and we would love to travel to Seattle and see the museum there dedicated to him. I don't think most people, particularly those who do not like the martial arts, realize what an impact Bruce Lee had in his lifetime. He was instrumental in paving the way for other minorities in the movie industry. He refused to be portrayed as some poor ignorant Asian and therefore sent a standard for others. There are many thing about his life that people rarely know unless you know his bio backward and forward the way we do! He was the Cha Cha champion in Hong Kong. He wrote beautiful poetry to his wife. Many famous people including the late Steve McQueen and Kareem Abdul Jabbar trained with him. He had a unique style and did not follow the traditional martial arts that were around in his lifetime. He was just an amazing person.
So my pen pal wants to see my photo! That is scary! Laugh out Loud! So stop by tomorrow because I will post pictures from the baby shower. I will include myself in one or two, providing I do not break the camera! That is me in the 1970's with my favorite Aunt Ang at Westcliffe, Colorado.
I suppose I should elaborate a bit on my "secret" pen pal. She and I are participating in a secret pen pal swap at Parsley's. We can not reveal ourselves until we send our December 2011 card, letter or note. In the meantime we are trying to enjoy recreating some of the past. People rarely write actual letters and occasionally send a hand written note or card but we rely so much on the internet and all the high tech we have at our fingertips. To be totally honest with you I truly love receiving a thoughtful card or letter from people. I think it just is a delightful way to show how much you do care. I rarely consider the cost of a stamp. I think it is well worth it.
I was talking with my Sweets about manners and teaching children at an early age to be respectful and know how to act appropriately. I work for a Specialist in Otolaryngology . He sees people of all ages from infants to the geriatric crowd and everyone in between. I am truly appalled how people let their children run wild and destroy private property. Etiquette is lacking in this day and age.
I am dreaming of having tea, a formal tea with my girlfriends which includes many of you. I love the ads I read that state they are "male" friendly! I want to have tea with my Sweets and for a few hours act dignified and cultured. I just think it is such a dying art to know one's place and always be prepared with our best behavior!
I currently drink iced coffee in the summer but I am a Sweet Tea kinda gal too. I love my Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time Tea at bedtime and still drink it although we having been suffering with 90 plus temps!
I love to read and recently finished the book "Unbroken. " The author of Seabiscuit, Laura Hillenbrand wrote a magnificent book with supreme accuracy regarding WWII and a young man and runner named Louie Zamperini. This incredible man still is a motivational speaker today and he is 94 years young! He set a world interscholastic record in 1934 running the mile in 4.21.2! Laura Hillenbrand spent seven years writing this book while fighting chronic fatigue syndrome. It took me three months to read the book. It was so intense at times I had to set it down for long periods of time. But it was a remarkable book and well worth the reading effort.
Why do I love running! Ah....I am not very good at it, not now, at my age, but I was once very good and my youngest son is a runner. He is ok in the short run but he R O C K S in the long run. Today at practice for XC they they did their time trials. He ran the two mile 10:32 being the fastest on the team. He has consistently improved his running ability. He knows where I stand with running and how he should be running his race. Today I will leave you with this Scripture quote.
1 Corinthians 9:24 : "Do you not know that those who run in the race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win."
This is Arianna. She is my tiny girly girl niece I will see in person for the very first time on Sunday at my grandson Andrew's baby shower! My phamily is constantly growing and this perfectly pink little lady started it in May 2011. Andrew and Tarrah and my my nephew Josh and his wife Katherine will add to the phamily in September 2011. So please accept this sweet pinkie for my Pink Saturday feature.
Now skip over to Beverly's and visit her and other wonderful pinkies! Make sure you come back next week and join the Miracle Makeover Pink Saturday. Many other featured memes are participating. Come join the fun, my link @ 119 at Beverly's blog is broken. I had to re post it on #120. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
Please come join the Alphabet Thursday fun! Stop by Jenny's.
Paraprosdokian
I had to look up "paraprosdokian". Here is the definition: "Figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected; frequently used in a humorous situation." "Where there's a will, I want to be in it," is a type of paraprosdokian.
Okay, so now enjoy!

7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
8. Evening news is where they begin with 'Good Evening,' and then proceed to tell you why it isn't.
9. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
10. A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.
11. I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted paychecks.
12. Whenever I fill out an application, in the part that says, 'In case of emergency, notify:' I put 'DOCTOR.'
