What's on your reading list? I am rarely without a good read! I thought I would share some reading favorites for Ms. Jenny and all the terrific friends at Alphabe Thursday! "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. You would not have attended Catholic school unless you read this book from cover to cover! It was during the years I attended Catholic school that I learned to love reading! I could go on an adventure without leaving my home! I could dream about places on the other side of the world! I always excelled in reading!
This was a favorite poem and I read to my children all the while they were growing up.
A couple favorite kid books that my kids enjoyed in their younger days!
Another good childrens book!
My all time favorite read is the Holy Bible and I prefer the New American Standard edition. But I have a large assortment of bibles and I treasure each one. The word of God is a priceless wealth of information and you can apply it to everyday living. We have the bible on tape too. Narrated by Alexander Scourby and James Earl Jones.
I have an i phone but I am not much into the Kindle. I like an old fashioned page turning book I can hold in my hands! I am going to buy a few book shelves so I can organize my books and when I do I will take some photos. I want to thank google images for sharing these great images with me today.
Now stop by Jenny's place and visit some creative, talented, encouraging posts about the letter "R".
Reading is a wonderful outlet. It expands your imagination and increases your vocabulary and knowledge of words and meanings. To broaden your reading skills read some poetry.

Hi Anne ~~ You have a bunch of "R" reading material and story material also.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jim has a reading list. I like to read all of a series of light reading. Last finished were the Lucy Stone mysteries by Leslie Meier and I am now on the Monk series.
Yes, I read the Bible and other Chritian books and literature. Also some on writing and poetry are in my"R" read stack.
For years I have been reading a book containing all of the letters of Mark Twain from Europe until our library lost track of it.
Then just this February I found it on eBay and was able to purchase it for fifty cents ($0.50) plus 3.88 postage and two cents sals tax:

I love your attitude when it comes to reading. I love reading and collecting books. I feel the same way about kindle. I would rather turn pages and smell the book than use a kindle.
ReplyDeleteI love to read , can't wait to read to my grandson, well I read to him now but he does not really listen. I have just recieved a book called Grandmas magical stories. .
ReplyDeleteI am a great believer in the kindle app on my phone ipad and pc but I also love a book in the hand .
I do however think that they are a waste of resources if.only read once , I tend to pass on my novels as I can't read a book twice .
I have just cleared about 300 books out my Christian ones gone to church library other to friends and others who knows where they will end up.
Wow! You love the books I love and poetry I adore and suffice it to say Reading is one of my greatest pleasures ~ Thanks ~ Enjoy ^_^
ReplyDeletereading <3 definitely my favourite activity! and to kill a mockingbird is definitely a classic :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful word for the letter R. I used to read all the time. Love all the adventures I had without leaving home. :-) Now I spend more of my time writing.
ReplyDeleteWe have many of the same favorites! I love To Kill a Mocking Bird!
ReplyDeleteGreat recommendations on books -- my favorites as well (did you read in Oprah Magazine about the creation of her library? fascinating). My sympathies to you in the loss of Reggie. How we love our critters.
ReplyDeleteAnne - that is something we have in common - I just love to read and grateful for it. sandie
ReplyDeleteThat is a great R word. I love reading too, but i have times that i do more quilting and stichting like now.
ReplyDelete"To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of my favorites, too. And "Goodnight Moon," of course. :)
ReplyDeleteCame by to catch up with the Phamily..I loove reading too. Usually a good mystery but also biographies. My favorite Bible is the Layman's Parallel Bible with 4 translations.

I am never without a book and now that I have an ipad, never ever without a book.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I would like the electronic reader, but I have liked the ipad so much, I bought an additional smaller reader that I can stick in my bag so I ALWAYS have something to read.
I must say, however, there is nothing like a glass of wine and an evening by the fire with a real book. That is my idea of heaven!
I looooove to read!!!!! I have a nook now and I simply love it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteheather
Reading is awesome.
ReplyDeleteoohh, reading and books. two of the delights of life. your post has made me think of the books i read with my children when they were small. i still have quite a few of them (waiting patiently, for reading to grandchildren one day!)
ReplyDeletelovely post.
I usually like reading books in paper but I have to say it was much easier to carry around an e-reader while I was reading War and Peace. :))
ReplyDeleteOh the love of reading!! I love books, the smell, the feel, the look on a bookshelf!! We had books all over the house growing up and in our house with our own family-I see you and I share some favorites for our children as well. Some of my favorite memories with my little ones are holding them tightly and reading!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Jemma
Goodnight, Moon has always been one of my grandchildren's favorites. They also love all the Berenstain books. And, I'd forgotten about Are You My Mother? a favorite of my children's.
ReplyDeleteThose are my favorite books up there. My kids too. And kindle is so awesome because it can carry everything and more
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the Kindle and iphone not having the same effect as turning literal pages! I'm reading one of Beverly Lewis's Amish stories, but like you, my all time favorite is the Bible!
ReplyDeleteOh Anne!
ReplyDeleteI love so many of these books, too!
And that poem!
Really incredible!
Thank you for linking!
