This past week has been especially difficult. Boston, Texas, anniversaries for the Oklahoma City Bombing and of course Columbine. Because I am a Colorado native and live within thirty minutes of Columbine High School this one is especially tough for me. Thirteen innocent lives taken too soon. I remember making a mental note, John Tomlin, one of the students murdered at Columbine had spent the previous summer in Mexico with his dad. They were building homes with Habitant for Humanity. Kelly Fleming was getting readjusted to a new school having moved to Colorado from Arizona. Craig Scott, younger brother of victim Rachel, lying in the library, praying, watching his friends around him die. None of us should experience that, especially not our children.

Never Forgotten
Hello,
ReplyDeleteAs a Colorado Native myself
I too remember Columbine.
It has been a pretty difficult
week and I join with you
in prayer for all of those
lives touched by sadness this
week.
Bear Hugs,
Carolyn
So much sorrow. We should be able to spot those with mental illness better and keep the guns away from them. Now for the two terrorists in Boston, I don't know. They came here for freedom, were given it, lived and enjoyed it, and yet it wasn't enough.
ReplyDeleteWe must keep praying for all those touched by these terrible acts of violence, and pray we find all those planning to attack us before they do.
I did a patriotic table in honor of Boston, a small gesture of support.
Never forgotten by me either. There is so much senseless tragedy that goes on around us. I often wonder how much the country can endure before they realize where their true hope and strength comes from-and take a step towards that. It is sad to see all the lives that have been ruined by all these tragedies. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteAnne, very nice post in honor of so many left in sorrow.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne. I just wanted to let you know I was so touched by this and yesterday's post. We'll never, ever forget.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Myra
PS, I'm not sure if you're a follower of his already, but wanted to recommend a recent post on (my friend) Jack Darnell's blog: http://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/2013/04/our-tv-has-been-on.html
Bless you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHey Lady, thanks for stopping by the Shipslog. Of course I came by to see and read. Great tribute. This has definitely been a heart breaking time.
ReplyDeleteWe had a great blog friend from Colorado, Bill, but he has went to his reward. We had hoped to see him on our last round the country trip, but alas the Master called.
Great read. Thanks for remembering.
*hugs* You've had a rough week. Somehow I would like to think this sorry old world will be a better place someday... but I'm not holding my breath.
