Rose always had a serious catitude! But she was devoted to Nick and I think when he went away to school, she was mad and she took it out on me! She was a unique cat. Thinking back to the fifth grade, when Nick begged us to save her life, saying his friends was going to drown the kittens if they couldn't find homes! I think people like that, maybe someone should smack them around for a while and see if anything changes their hatefulness. Spay or neuter your pets people! Then you will never worry about unwanted pets. We are a throw away society, even for babies and animals. Don't want them, kill them! But in Rose's case, we took her in and Nick cared for her. Cleaning her litter, making sure she ate regular meals. He was such a good friend to her. About five years ago she was diagnosed with kidney disease. She ate a special diet, she saw the vet and had blood work regularly. She never lost her spunk and let me tell you, the girl had spunk! She developed sinus issues and it seemed the vet just never could figure out what to do for her. She had to use children's nasal spray and boy she hated it but it helped give her some relief. Last year I woke up to a cat crying. I searched high and low and called for my hubby to help me as well as Nick. She had apparently hopped on the stove and fell between the fridge and stove. She could not climb out. It was so heartbreaking. She just could not do what she use to do. The girl could open a box with those finicky little tabs and pull out a chicken dinner from Popeye's without you ever knowing what she was up to. She must have hidden her chicken around the house and we never found any evidence. She left the mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuit and honey behind! She never ate a chicken bone, she was smarter then most people! She would not eat cat food flavored with tuna or other fish only chicken. She was a pollotarian, strictly chicken only. I suppose I could write her story all day, every day but I will close here. She went to the Rainbow Bridge last year, November 10, 2019. She is missed today and Nick has all of her belongings. She was a one of a kind feline. Missing you Rose.
Please visit Happy Tuesday and I am just reminiscing about Tuesday Show and Tails with Angela.
I am sorry. You wrote a lovely tribute to her!
ReplyDeleteHugs as you remember your beautiful Rose today. Oh, humans like that, our Dad would love to hold their heads under water...in the toilet...for an hour.
ReplyDeleteRose left her paw prints on your heart. What a smart kitty. I had one like that too. So precious.
ReplyDeleteYou know how I love Maxine.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day, honey. Love and hugs. ♥
What a lovely tribute to Rose. And I love that sign about the cooties. What a hoot! You have a wonderful day my friend, hugs, Edna B.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful eulogy. All of God's creatures should be so lucky. We took bags of old towels and bedding to the Humane Society this morning; it about broke my heart to hear the barks for attention.
ReplyDeleteThat was kind of you to rescue her. How sad that someone planned to drown her. Sending you hugs as you remember your sweet girl. XO
ReplyDeleteA blue rose for Rose, that's very special. Pets soon become part of our family and stay loyal to us until the end. Sending comforting thoughts to you as you remember Rose a year later. : )
