Pinky Plums for Fall and a More Beautiful You video to share

I just bought a new tub of lipstick. Occasionally my Avon lady friend has some special prices I can not pass up so today I ordered a tube of Divine Plum lip color. I rarely use much make up in the summer heat but as the temps cool down I go into a different direction. So stop by Avon and check out the pretty Divine Plum and see some of the pretty lip color images I found for you.
I think we all deserve to look pretty but I do not buy into the ways of this world and the magazines and fashions that stress being anorexic thin! So for my Spiritual Sunday post I want to share a beautiful video with you. I am showing the video that shows facts about young girls today. Only 2% of girls think they are beautiful.  One quarter of 14 year old girls have considered plastic surgery. The average woman spends 2 1/2 years of her life styling her hair. Three minutes after reading a magazine a girl feels bad about herself. An average girl starts dieting at age 8. Young girls are more afraid of being fat than they are of losing their parents, nuclear war or getting cancer. 4 out of 10 girls agree with domestic violence if a girl dresses outrageously. But there is a bright side. God is always in control. He is always watching and caring for each one of us. Although the video shows many beautiful bible verses we all need to share with young girls today these are two I shared with my own three daughters.

"God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

" I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb."  Jeremiah 1:5

Proverbs 31:3 "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Will you please visit Beverly and thank her for her weekly Pink Saturday leadership. Then visit some pinkies and head over to Charlotte and Ginger's and thank them for sharing their heart with us each week. Visit lots of SpiritualSunday participates too.

Quick Cross Country request! Nick had his first cc meet today. But the thunder, lightening and brief rain showers came with it. The meet was cancelled after a gentleman was struck by lightening standing under a tree! Some of the kids were taking pieces of the burned bark with them! Say a prayer for this unknown gentleman. Nick had some stomach/muscle pain so pray he can run tomorrow The coach had planned for him to run hard today and relax tomorrow but now he has more pressure because  although 38 schools were represented today more will be at the meet tomorrow and there are several runners who compete really hard with Nick! Pray for all please.

  1. Those are some beautiful colors of lipstick Anne! I'm a Mary Kay girl myself. I love their lip gloss. I use it a lot in the winter when the air is dry to keep from getting chapped lips when I'm out.

It is so sad about what is going on with our young teens and their self image. My daughter will be 14 in November. There are times when she thinks she is getting fat even when she was little. I always told her that you have to get bigger as you grow up. I never told her she was getting fat from outgrowing her clothes. I always told her that she is getting older and that is part of life which it is.

    Hugs,
    Angela

  2. Those lipsticks are beautiful - I'm always looking for the perfect shade...Girls and guys have such a preoccupation with "thin". We need to focus on being fit and healthy, regardless, but I don't see that happening even though it seems there are some who try to send this message...Have a great holiday weekend, Anne.

  5. Oh Anne. I hope the man under the tree is going to be okay and that your son will be able to run his race.

Even at age 66 there are huge body image issues and I am trying to get rid of all the hype in my mind and just eat real food. I hope my little granddaughter will be able to accept who she is when she is older.

You chose some pretty shades of lipstick. I forget to wear it most of the time. Have a great holiday weekend.

  7. Coral is my color of choice when it comes to lipstick. I admit - I'm a slave to my makeup - won't go out without it on!!!

  8. I, too, used to believe "Thin is IN" ... in the 60's how I envied Twiggy.
These days, well, I'm still not so comfortable in my own skin, but choose not to dwell on my imperfections; instead, work on improving what's INSIDE!
(But I'm still to chicken to step out without my "war paint" - LOL!)

  9. I still crave the tee-ninecy inch-long white sample lipsticks, about as big around as a drinking straw. They were a young girl's delight---I can just feel the way I stroked the Pink Cheer onto my top lip, and how sophisticated I felt.

(Plus, they were easy to smuggle out of the house in a pocket and apply in the Girls' Room just before homeroom).

  10. Hi, The 1 Samual scripture is one of my personal favorites. "Good, Better, Best....quote was written in my high school yearbook by my dearest friend on our graduation day, close to 50 years almost! Have not seen it since. What a small world blogging is. I totally agree with you about young girls. I have an 8 year old granddaughter and my daughter has done an excellent job teaching Kaylee that her inner beauty will always shine through, not just the outer beauty. Thank you for the beautiful comments you left on my anniversary post today. I was concerned it was too long and wordy but wanted my hubby to see that I love to tell the world how blessed I am and how I thank the Lord for him. Blessings,
    Lynn

  15. What a nice post.I have been in the make up industry for 30 years, it provided a wonderful life for me and my daughter. I really enjoyed it as it allowed me the opportunity to inspire beauty in everyone. I always seek those who want to use products appropriately and in good taste!
As for young girls and their image, we need to focus less on ourselves and teach our young ones to have a life full of purpose!

  19. Avon has some really good deals. Our next door neighbor sells Avon. It's sad that our society has focused so much on physical appearance. I'm glad God looks on the heart and not on outward appearance. Hope you're having a good weekend.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte

  20. Yes there is nothing wrong with wearing a little makeup but to want plastic surgery when they are that young is rediculous.

Good lucky to your son and hope that gentleman will be ok.
My hubby was struck by lightening when he was 19.

  21. Beautiful lipstick. I'm saddened also how little time is allowed to be a child in this world today. I sometimes think we've stepped back in progress for how many view women.
