Come join the Alphabe Thursday fun with Ms. Jenny. I am not a great game player! My hubby and I play rummy and a few other card games but I use to love playing games when I was younger. Scrabble is one of those games so here are some Scrabble facts for you featuring the letter "X". There are approximately 317 words that can be used while playing Scrabble that feature the letter X. Here are some of those words:
addax beaux carex
ataxy bemix cimex
axion boxer coxal
axman boxes cylix
Words with a X in them don't score as many points as letters Z and Q. X words are much easier to place on the board.
I thought you might enjoy a little info on this X-citing and X-cellent letter!
That's interesting Anne! I think I only know 2 of those words too! lol I loved playing Scrabble as a kid. My favorite word to try to spell was always Peacock. Isn't that funny! I would do my best to get to spell Peacock. It's also a 7 letter word so you get more points for that too and I would try to get it on the triple word too! lol I would always win the game after that! hehehe Oops! Maybe I shouldn't have told my secret!
ReplyDeleteI love scrabble and did not know all of these words.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post.
Have missed you and glad I was able to come by tonight
Love
Maggie
When my older kids were in middle school, we lived in Chicago, and in the winter, we had a running Scrabble game going with kid in the neighborhood. I let them use the dictionary to look up words. They could use a word only if they could give the definition!!!
ReplyDeleteI like ataxy, except when you have to share.
ReplyDeleteOn vacation, we always played Scrabble from the little ones up to the Grandparents. Good post.
ReplyDeleteI hate x words! Qs are not so bad but those Zs can give you trouble too! I haven't played in years...maybe a new winter past time this year.
ReplyDeleteWe used to play a lot of scrabble many years ago and I always thought the X gave more points. Oh well, forgotten. lol Great X words
ReplyDeleteI love Scrabble! But my X words are usually wimpy ones like "axe" or "ox." Thanks for the list! =>
ReplyDeleteI haven't played Scrabble in so long. Next time I do and I get an X I will be well prepared.
ReplyDeleteSuperb ‘X’ words!
ReplyDeleteThanks too for stopping by.
Have a great weekend & look forward to *seeing* you again next time,
XOXO LOLA:)
We love Scrabble - I'm going to print off those words, as I'm always stuck when it comes to X.
ReplyDeleteI know I would have a hard time placing an x on the game board!

When I was growing up, Scrabble was our family game. And I LOVE an X on a triple word score.
ReplyDelete=)
Or a triple letter!

I played Scrabble mostly with my mother, but she's off to play with the angels. I could've used some of these X words!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I used to pay scrabble all the time when life was easier and no children or active duty involved! That's a good list to have when playing! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteAs a Scrabble enthusiast I love your post! Have a beautiful day and thanks so much for your visit!
ReplyDeleteCoralie

ReplyDeleteI love to play Scrabble, X is a tricky letter to use! Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThis was very interesting! I didn't know any of the "x" words you have in this post, Anne! I always have troble with the letters Q X and Z when playing scrabble as I can only thi k of the most simple words..I really should do a little research like this
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!
This was never my best game as I was terrible in spelling. Sounds like you and family have a lot of quality time together. I think it is great.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteThat's such a clever X post! :) Unfortunately, I can only use one word in the German game -- Boxer. Same word! ;)
Thanks for having left a comment on my blog now and then -- that's so very much appreciated. Maybe you want to check out my Oktoberfest giveaway (still open until October 2nd). It would be nice to welcome you back to my blog.
Greetings from Munich, Germany,
Birgit
