Y is for Yogurt

I love yogurt! But often it gives me a headache! A really bad headache like the one I have right now bordering on migraine and too much sodium in a "healthy choice" soup I ate for lunch! It also is making my head throb because I am getting a bad cold! This odd weather we have makes us suffer in the high 80's turns around and makes the wind blow and then settle in with some 50 degree temps and rain showers! The barometric pressure is doing me in!

So tonight for Ms. Jenny's Alphabe Thursday I decided to post my favorite yogurt! I have mentioned the headache thing from standard yogurt so I found Greek yogurt. I am a big fan of Oikos Greek yogurt. The calories in it are very reasonable. They have it in traditional smooth yogurt and the fruit on the bottom.  I like the black cherry, strawberry and blueberry flavors. I am not a fan of the honey flavored yogurt. It costs a little more than the traditional brands you can get at your favorite store and the cost is higher too from the Yoplait's and Dannon's but this Oikos Greek yogurt is yummy! It is good for your tummy and a great snack or breakfast treat and no headache pain! Try it, I think you may like it! Check out their website here. They support Breast Cancer Awareness and since it is Breast Cancer Awareness month this tied in very nicely.

  1. I keep meaning to try the Greek Yogurt. Maybe I will remember when I shop Saturday. We are having that annoying weather too! It is supposed to be near 80 tomorrow, stay there for a few days then go to the high 60s again. I have already had my first cold of the season! I do hope have a good night and good day tomorrow!

  2. I'm not a big fan of yogurt ... unless you count the frozen delicacy (tee-hee). But, a good friend of mine has been shouting praises to greek yogurt -- and now this. I'll have to check it out soon!

  5. Are you sick too? I am sitting here watching the Oregon Ducks and trying to stay warm. I feel lousy and I think a lot of it has to do with the weather changing so drastically. Take care of yourself. I'm definitely going to give the Greek yogurt a try.

    Love the thick, creamy texture.
    Worth the extra cost.

  8. Thanks for the tip. I love yogurt, but have not bought any of the greek. I have tried it, and didn't mind it. Think I may have to adapt a taste, but gonna give it a whirl. Crazy weather here in UT also. High 80's yesterday. Today my lawn was covered with a blanket of snow. Geez Louise!

  9. Great choice of a Y word. I'm used to eating it natural but I imagine it would taste great mixed with a tablespoon of strawberry marmalade. :)

  13. The Greek yogurt has more protein in it, which I like. We have yogurt with fruit for dessert at night.

  16. I'm not wild about yogurt, but I can eat a few of the blended flavors.

I tried Greek yogurt and was unable to mix it well enough. I thought it was chalky, so it didn't appeal to me at all.

  17. Anne, I sure didn't know you could get headaches from yogurt. I am sad that you have this problem. I eat yogurt almost every morning topped with a little granola because I like the crunch effect. :) We also use the plain Greek non fat yogurt instead of sour cream. Have you tried that? Happy Pink Saturday and have a wonderful week.

  19. I love greek yogurt, too. My favorite way to eat it is mixed with gluten-free granola and a little fruit.

    Yum!

I'm sorry you were having a migraine. I hope it's all better now. Sometimes it seems like the change of seasons brings those on!

    Thank you for linking.

I've been having a difficult time leaving comments but it's working great this early, early morning.
