"M" is for Moon

Last week I finally got into the groove of Alphabe Thursday with  Ms. Jenny and the gang who share such great ideas, poems, stories, and just about anything marvelous, made for fun and maybe even crafty! I used "L" for Love because afterall February is the month of love and we all enjoy being showered with some attention, especially during the day of Love, February 14th. In my quest for love I found another blogger who is involved in a ministry with girls that have been in different types of abusive situations in the country of Brazil. The Day  of Love isn't until June so you have until April 1 to send a card, handmade, store bought, it does not matter. I am sharing the address here:

Hope Unlimited for Children

P. O. Box 100

Jefferson City, TN  37760

But you can stop by the blog yourself and check this story out here. I am always anxious to help. It is just in my nature. I have had many wonderful opportunities here to to meet people going through difficult life journeys and I encourage you to stop by and read the story behind this.

Life is difficult so please join me in this simple endeavor to brighten a young girls day. It speaks volumes of the kindness all of us have to share. Thank you.

Now for my "M" post. I am in the mood for Love so I will share a simple and sweet Love is... with each one of you. Many have heard me say this before but I use to cut these little cartoons out of the "funny papers" in the daily news and give them to my hubby. He has all of them. I use to cut them out and glue them onto construction paper scraps.  It bring both of us great big smiles even today, all these years later. Love never changes. It is a constant.

So here goes my "Moon" post: My Love is.. shows that you two can outshine the stars but you can also enjoy a quiet moment under a hanging paper moon. I love the moon, I like to see it hanging low in the sky shining like a huge bright silver coin. I love when it is a small sliver like a tiny slice of cake. I enjoy seeing it when it is a half moon glimmering in the night sky lighting our path. The moon is one incredible  Did you know that the moon is the Earth's only natural satellite? It has been gracing the skies for many, many centuries.  It's gravitational influence produces the oceans tides and slight lengthening of the day.During an eclipse of the moon, you will notice a reddish tint on it. It appears in various fashion across the skies and it is a sight I never tire of seeing. There are so many influences in our world that are resulting from the moon.  One a simple note one of my favorite childhood books that I read to my own children is called "Goodnight Moon".

I hope you have enjoyed my little presentation of the moon.  My sister tells me that her little great grandgirl Ari will look into the sky at night and blow kisses while saying "Goodnight Moon"! She loves the moon too!

I hope you will visit Ms. Jenny and all the other participates of Alphabe Thursday. It is a good place to be.

Very special that you have Collected and shared them. Although I'm not doing this round of AlphaBThurs...I could have done letter 'M' today, too. You guessed it...I too talked about the Moon, too.

  6. A fry nice post, Anne. My favorite THREE are:
    (1) I Corinthians 13 -- Mrs. Jim and I had it a part of our wedding ceremony 42 years ago, every time I read it I am reminded of our wedding;
    (2) the practice you had of cutting out those 'love' cartoons and sharing them with Hubby; and
    (3) your actual 'Moon for "M"' writing -- when I worked with NASA I was involved with the Moon landings and then afterwords with the ALSEP program which collected and analyzed the sizmographic and other measurements the ALSEP Module downloaded to Houston. Finally the module was shut off because of money and the scarcity of new different measurements.

  12. AWESOME post, m'friend! I'm not real big on 'traditional' Valentines Day observations, so I appreciate your sharing this 'Hope Unlimited' link. I'm headed that way shortly!

Have to admit, your mention of clipping the 'Love Is' cartoons makes my eyes a little leaky. My former husband (now deceased) and I used to do that, too, and would add the best ones to our scrapbooks. I bet he'd like to see that you're doing this ... I do!

  14. I so enjoyed the comments that you left. This post is wonderful. I too love the moon. When I was a little girl, my daddy told me that the man in the moon was my friend, and that I could tell him anything and he would never tell anyone else what I said. So nights I would by my bedroom window and chat with my friend the moon. Sometimes I still do this. Funny how little things like this carry on throughout your whole life.

I will stop by the "Hope Unlimited For Children" site to read about it. Of course, I can send cards too. What a fun idea! I'll also stop by Alphabe Thursday and check it out.

For some reason, I don't remember the book "Goodnight Moon" but I will go check it out. I may have missed out on something good.

Pogo has been hopping all over me while I'm trying to type, so I think he's telling me that it's time to play. So off I go. You have a super day my friend. Hugs, Edna B.
