I am late posting this cute Snoopy. The months fly by.
During this new month of June, I am grateful to live with five months behind us and seven still ahead. Grateful for small things, sunshine, a roof over our heads. The hubby does Saturday mail, about every six weeks, on Saturday. I tag along and watching the homeless people downtown makes me so very sad. This is a problem we should never have in the USA. I would be grateful to see solutions. Kansas City built a town just for homeless Veterans . Our cities need to do more for their citizens before taking on the rest of the world.
May 29th was the anniversary of Mollye Self who went to be with the Lord. It took me a few days to sort out how I would get through writing this brief tribute. She was an incredible human being. She was someone who cared, truly cared. I don't think I have ever known anyone as kind as Mollye. I would tell her something and two years later she would remember that conversation and had such a knack for making you feel better, no matter what happened. When she lost her son Jake, unexpectedly, she never lost her zeal for living. She continued to be a kind heart even though her own heart was broken into a million pieces. Why she had to leave this earth so suddenly makes me sad to this very day. She was just such a creative lady, a kind heart, funny, serious and a survivor. Nothing was too difficult for her, except her short battle with the illness that stole away my sister who was exactly that to me! We never had that face to face opportunity but she was a one of a kind gal. I miss you girl, You always had all the right things to say to me. There will never be anyone like you. I will see you on the other side someday. Enjoy your son while you are waiting for everyone else. Love you Miz Mollye.
Mollye was born on January 9, 1944. She passed away on May 29, 2014. Everyday is a difficult day, when I need to talk with you and you are no longer here.
Steve Prefontaine was one of the greatest middle and distance runners in our time. He was born January 25, 1951 and passed away tragically May 30, 1975. Every year I like to remember him and since he was a true rock star like Mollye, I decided, even if it is a few days late, I would share them together here. I know Mollye would have liked that because she listened to me talk about running all the time. Rest In Peace
