K Is For King!

I was cruising around blog land and I came across some new blogs! I am amazed at the wonderful talents I find over here!  But when I stopped by my new fave blog http://rebeccaforvintageliving.blogspot.com/ I saw her profile and her admission to being a Christian woman! She had a lovely photo of Christ on her blog and my light lite up my brain! So please stop by and say hello .

My Alphabe Thursday post is "K" is "King"! Christ is my King and since Easter is Sunday and we celebrate His life, His death and His Resurrection I want to share my favorite photo of Jesus. This picture is called a Hook Head. It was painted by the artist Richard Hook who had a wife named Frances Hook and together they created many beautiful pieces of art is various forms. My high school friend Randy Pape worked at the Scripture Supply Store in our hometown of Pueblo and he bought this for me. I have carried it everywhere with me and today it hangs in my bedroom.

Richard Hook (1914-1975) painted this beautiful portrait of Christ which is titled "Head of Christ. This painting as been attributed to his wife Frances but Richard was the artist here. Richard was a well established illustrator for such magazines as "The Saturday Evening Post" and "Colliers" before Lillian Brune, the first art director of CPH "discovered him  on a visit while he was working with his wife, Frances also a talented artist in her own right. He created many religious works for many publishers over the years,  including Concordia  Publishing House.

Frances Hook was quite famous for her art work for Northern tissue in the 1950s titled "American Beauties". My mother purchased a set of those prints for me as a child and I still have some of them tucked away. Frances also created beautiful figurines of children and I own a few of her treasures as well.

I like to add a bio to my research and I hope you enjoyed this.

One of my favorite bible verses says

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”- Isaiah 53:5-6  from the New International Version. 

This is another verse I love "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."Isaiah 9:6.

MedicalMoments in My Life

I have worked in the health care field since 1983. I started out working in the Medical School, Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. It was there that I learned how truly amazing the world is!I worked with doctors from every part of the world! It was a wonderful job. I made a few lifelong friends including my dear sweet buddy Bea who turns 80 this year! She is an amazing woman who never married or raised her own family but she has had some interesting jobs including school teacher, legal secretary, medical secretary and an assortment of wonderful jobs that took her to lot's of different cities in lots of different states in the USA. She has traveled the world too and I have always been amazed at her. I loved that first job in this big city. I am a small town girl from Pueblo which is 100 miles south of Denver. But the people I worked with at that first job took me in and cared for me.

I was working there for about 10 weeks when a gal rear-ended me and sent me into a lifetime of pain and suffering! I drove a 1972 canary yellow Dodge Swinger (Dart) and she was driving an army green 1970 Chevy Malibu. These cars were built like little tanks and she had her baby on the front seat. I think she was watching her kid when she sent me sailing. I received whip lash and as a result of it I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. I ended up at the emergency room and it was there that my husband to be took exceptional care of me and six months later asked me to marry him! I was getting worse and worse with dizzy spells and headaches. Doctors ignored me and finally told me to get a psych consult!

A doctor I worked with, Dr. Cohen asked Bea and I to join him over at the hospital to visit his 16 year old daughter. Zoe had had a total hip replacement and she was going to be discharged the next day so we went to wish her well. I was wearing a white sundress with pretty eyelet cap sleeves . We were standing at Zoe's bedside chatting when I asked the doctor if it felt hot in there. The next thing I know I am in the emergency room getting 30 plus stitches in my head. When I fell, in slow motion, according to my doctor friend, I was chewing gum and he said I never missed a beat! I hit my head on the corner of the old metal closets that were int he patient rooms! A young doctor in the ER told me I had a beautiful skull because he was able to see clean inside of it! He stitched up my head and ordered a CT Scan. There is was water sitting on my brain! Three neuro-surgeries later I still suffer from migraine headaches and many frustrations that the cop that investigated our accident stated "no one was injured and car damage was minor!

I tell this story because I want to share my medical stories with you. Some funny, some heartbreaking and I will do that over a series of days.

But this story, my story, gave me the courage to love and trust my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I tell you this because Easter is this week and I have had many personal encounters with the Lord and the one I had during my neuro surgery days is the one that set my life into motion and made me the trusting woman I am today!

I had one neurosurgery and then one year later a second one. Two months after that second one I had a third! Five months later I was sitting at work one day, just me and the Dept. Chair Dr. Pizer. I walked into his office and told him I think I am losing my mind! He made a quick phone call, got a wheelchair and personally took me across the bridge to the hospital, which was a huge walkway connecting the old medical school with the old hospital. My husband arrived shortly and a young, arrogant resident, Dr. Dim Wit I fondly called him, told me that it appeared my shunt was not functioning and more surgery would be necessary. I told him "we'd see about that!" and he chuckled as he saw me pick up my bible and start reading it. He laughed because he thought I was a silly girl trusting God and not science and medicine! He ordered am MRI and because that particular imaging does not have harmful radioactivity like CT Scans do my husband was allowed to go into the exam area with me. He held my feet and we prayed together as I was run through a series of more tests! When I came out of that MRI that resident doctor said to me "I'm not sure what happened, your shunt was not functioning at all when you went in to the MRI, but when you came out, it was fully functioning! He was as pale as a ghost! He was Jewish but I told him" you gotta live and Let God." "You ought to try Him sometime." I saw God work a true miracle in my life. I could not stand to undergo one more surgery, I had a newborn baby in the middle of all this and I lost my dad to a heart attack and saw my precious mom lose her younger sister Ann 8 days later to Lou Gehrig's disease! You may know me a bit now but anyone who knows me well knows that when that doctor announced I would have more surgery I argued with God! I told Him I was not going to do that, I probably could not survive the mental anguish of it all and if He loved me He would show that darn doctor up! God listens, when He wants me but He changed that doctors heart. That doctor told me "There is absolutely no medical reason why my shunt stopped working then started working again in such a short time frame. But you know what? God knows...

She had a double book set giveaway and I won the first one. I will post more when my prize arrives! I was tickled and truly blessed to win this! Because I still have two daughters at home it was especially meaningful to win this book giveaway.

Then I came home this evening and found out I won Jenny Matlock's give away  athttp://jennymatlock.blgospot.com/. It was a fun Vintage Easter surprise. When it arrives I will blog about it too.

I feel so blessed to have won two giveaways! I spend lots of time commenting on blogs and reading your great comments over here. I like to find new giveaways but I also like the friendships I have formed over here in blog land.

We had warmer temps today but it was to be in the 70s. It was a bit overcast and very windy. You would think it was March! Laugh Out Loud! I am hesitating to plant any of my veggies and herbs because I don't want them to get overwhelmed in the house. The first full weekend in May will be my planting time. You can not trust Colorado and snow in the same sentence! I got married on May 3rd 26th years ago. On April 30th that year there was a major snow storm. You just never know living here. Being a native I know how the weather can be. Finicky, or particular or downright mean and rotten!

I also will post about my first ever giveaway win at Ruth's http://suburbansahm.blogspot.com/. My daughter and I scraped at her house yesterday for about 9 hours! She has a fantastic scrap booking room. My daughter Hannah made a birthday card for her honey who has an Easter birthday this year! We did not take pics only of the food we ate! My cute little scrap booking book with paper and stickers from Ruth is so precious. I thought of doing black and white pics in it then got an idea, I am going to make a friendship book with it! I think I have enough pics to make it really cute! Yesterday we made a page for Boots my big kitty and one for Easter with pics of the kids, all five of them, when they were small. I have a page or two to dedicate to my late sister and even one for my unborn daughter Rachel who I lost 23 years ago.

I have a first communion veil that I still have in its original little case. I wore that veil for my first communion along with four of my nieces and two of my daughters. I am putting a page together with those photos. It is quite the family heirloom.. I am showing a few food pics because Noelle drove to Pueblo on Saturday and bought  kielbasa at our cousin's  t Market, "Frank's Market and  my sis gave Noelle 2 blood sausages.

I Need Help With a Frame Makeover!

I am late posting for Shop the House Sunday. Check out Kendall' page at Finesse Your Nest. She is a great lady with tons of great ideas and she is super talented. Her blog is http://finesseyournest.blogspot.com/. I posted a desperate make over emergency call back on January 31, 2010! So today I am asking for help with part of it. Here is a picture of a similar frame that I have hanging in my bedroom

My maternal grandparents wedding photo is in the large oval frame.  I have two more similar in storage because  when I lost my parents I inherited those empty frames. They held precious photos of my dad's two brother's that both died from influenza in 1918 and 1920. That pandemic lasted from March 1918 until June 1920 and my paternal grandmother lost two of her four sons, Joseph Jr. and Frank. For whatever reasons my older brother removed the photos! I would not be asking for help had I gotten the frames with those wonderful photos left inside. But since my frames are empty I am asking if anyone out there has any ideas or experience in using these frames. I would be most grateful for any help I could receive. Please pass this along.

I am going to start redoing my chair here

This chair sat in my paternal grandparents house when I was a child. I am not certain where the others got off to but I treasure this piece of my family history. I was over at http://gracioussouthernliving.blogspot.com/ and I saw a dresser she is redoing with a product called Motsenbocker's Lift Off Paint and Varnish Remover. I am going to look for this product and re finish my chair.  I am debating on the paint color but will worry about that as soon as we get more beautiful Spring like days here in Colorful Colorado! Right now my son Nick uses the chair at his desk in his room and  he is a blue kinda guy with shades of blue in his room ranging from navy to bright blue. So that is my shopping the house for this Sunday and if any one can tell me if I can just strip the old paint and re paint it will I need to glaze it because I am just doing the distressing as the chair has some name cravings in it! It says "Hannah", hmm...do you think my own daughter Hannah did that! Laugh Out Loud!

I will keep you posted and I promise to complete my projects in the next 30-45 days! Since my girl Noelle can not scrape with me again until April 11th I will have a free weekend to work on these projects.

Please tell me if you have had an experience with the oval frames. The are 20th century products so I need to handle them with care!

Spiritual Sundays

I want to welcome everyone today to one of my favorite posts! I was so tickled last weekend there were 42 participates in Spiritual Sundays including myself and I visited each and every one! At least that was the count early Sunday morning!

So say hello to Ginger and Charlotte and join us here. I have a two part post today. My first half is a poem from a book I have called "Dear God, It's Me and It's Urgent" by Marian Stroud. It is a delightful little book with prayers for every season of a woman's life. I do a little bible study daily with the Radio Bible folks and I have loved and cherished this ministry since 1983! I am a working gal and life there is not always pleasant. Here is a lovely thought to share with you today:

A Woman At Work
is God's gift to me;
 Whether I am working for money or for love
is irrelevant in His sight.
I can invest my energies and skills
to build things that will last
in my own life
and in the lives of others;
or I can fritter my talents away
without thought or consideration.

But the work that I do today is important
because I have exchanged a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes,
today will be gone forever.
I hope that I will not regret
the return that I receive for it.

The second part of my Spiritual Sunday is dedicated to this gentle man, George Beverly Shea. He celebrated his 101st birthday on February 1st! I think God keeps him around because of his beautiful spirit and he is such a rare man in this day and age. My late father loved to listen to him sing and I am sharing one of his beautiful hymns here with you today.

Today Is An Anniversary Day Part II

I have already posted about Kay and her website that has names in the sand which she will write for you if you just ask her. Since I showed you my sister's pictures as a young bride and as a happy mom in Kentucky I wanted to share, if my link connects, my Rachel baby's name in the sand. Thank you Kay for your kindness. I am unsure if you know how much you do for people with a simple photograph.

Today is a tough one for me! I got up and played on the computer, visiting blogs, went to lunch with my sweet hubby and talked to a couple Princess House friends about, well, Princess House! I was trying not to get sad. But then I found this pic of my sis and I started thinking...the Good Lord choose to take my baby girl Rachel, yet unborn on this very day. It had to be one of the very saddest days I have ever had! Since I do not have pictures of my precious angel baby Rachel I will share Kays gift to me, her name written in the sand at a beach near Kays home in Australia.

So here is my simple tribute to my unborn daughter who I will never know on this earth. Yet I am confident that I will meet her in heaven one day. I do have her foot prints and they are so delicate and tiny, not much larger then half my pinkie finger. But perhaps it would be too personal to post those footprints here. Instead I will treasure them while I am here on earth and meet my daughter and my sister on Heaven's side one day.

I don't have music on my blog but listen to the Carrie Underwood song "Temporary Home". You will understand what I am feeling.

It Is An Anniversary Day Today Part I

This is a bittersweet day for me. My precious oldest sister was taken out of this life in February of 2001. She would have had a birthday today. My big sis was a gem. You all would have loved her. She could sew like a dream and I tortured her as a youngster (she was 16 years older then me)! She made me Barbie clothes fit for a princess! She was a wonderful role model and the mother of five boys. She always wanted a daughter but after her fifth son was born she always said "I'll probably get a grand daughter someday." When she got sick she said "I would not trade one of these beautiful young men that I raised for all the girls in the whole world." My sister traveled the world. She was a young bride (19) and traveled with her late husband everywhere. He was in the U.S. Army. She raised a houseful of wonderful young men, She would sew and cook and garden like a dream! She got her grand daughters and grandsons too. My sister never smoked or drank. She was the clean cut girl next door. She loved her family and she loved the Lord. Living in the South she often commented that you had to know your bible because Southerners know theirs and you don't want to be unprepared. When she knew the end was moving closer she called me. I spent a long time talking with her and she told me not to be sad. She said she knew daddy was waiting for her. She was chatting about our grandparents and all our relatives who left this life before her. She was ready to meet her maker. My sis worked in a men's pant factory. Lots of younger women there were dying from strange types of cancer. My sister always felt her illness was related to a drug she took for arthritis. Years taking it took a toll on her liver. She died valiently so strong, so full of faith. I miss her terribly and today and I want to tell my sis Happy Birthday cause I know she is sharing it with our parents and many others in God's gracious heavenly home.

It's Pink Saturday and I Want to Show Off A Few Tea Items

This group has been growing and we all need to be grateful for Beverly because she takes the time out of her busy life to provide us with some fun and friendship each weekend.  Although I get frustrated that I can not seem to make it to every single post to say hello I think warm thoughts of each one of you, because I know you are all individual talents and I enjoy knowing you. 

I am showing off a few pieces of my Vintage Garden collection. Princess house is planning to retire this collection and it makes me very sad. The four mini salt and pepper shakers are already retired. But they are lovely aren't they? The match the rest of the set and here are a few more.

This is a tea cup and saucer. I am sorry the lighting and my camera are not giving the detail and the beauty of this piece. These tea cups with matching saucers are  also retired in Princess House and I love these tea cups. They are very pretty and delicate. I am going to show you a different angle of the picture.

This is a better close up. My Fuchsia nails match the Pink Saturday theme too! Laugh out Loud! : O ).

The large teapot. It is a beauty made of stoneware and it cleans up like a dream! It is currently still available in Princess House. Do you love the pink cabbage rose on the top of the lid?

I was going to do a post about my Easter treasures but so many of them are still at the storage shed due to the snowy weather we have had. So instead I pulled my "Living Water" figurine from the former Home Interior Co. out of my china hutch. Easter really is about the sacrifice Christ made for all of us as He hung on the cross to take away the sins of the whole world. This figurine depicts Christ talking with the woman at the well.Read John 4:7-9. Jesus approached the woman at the well and asked her for a drink of water, Being a Samaritan and Jesus being a Jew she remarked about this. He replied to her "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is  that says to you ' Give me a drink', you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." Now I am not going to give the while story to you. Grab your bibles and read it, it is a perfect time of year to read this story as it leads up to the death and resurrection of Christ.

I know I have not displayed classic pinks and I wanted to show you a couple decorating ideas I have using my retired Princess House 390 Candle Lamp. I have looked high and low and I can not find a solid pink large pillar candle. I improvised. I took an 8' candle stick and set in inside my lead crystal PH candle holder. I set them both in my candle lamp. Then I filled it with plastic Easter eggs. You can also use jelly beans. It is a quick and easy decorating idea and makes a nice centerpiece for the table.

I added a Dollar Store white lamb and little brown bunny holding some Easter eggs. This currently resides on my piano. I am planning to make some decoupage eggs and I have a great baby gift idea for you next Pink Saturday using the Princess house 401 chip n dip bowl. It will be pink for a girl! Smile!  :)

My Blog Makeover

I hope you will enjoy the previous post my Alphabe Thursday  featuring the letter "J".

But I am so tickled! I got a blog makeover! I have been following Cat over at http://paisleycatscraps.blogspot.com/ for quite a while and I got some help with this cool blog design. I used a couple of vintage pics in b/w of my sweet mamma and one of them features her cousin Hedwig. I will blog about them later and I have a story to tell of Hedwig's only son who was killed in Vietnam. In fact, once I started blogging I started compiling a list of things to blog about. I am very proud of who I am and what I came from so I need to showcase the people that made me the person I am today.

I know, I know, I tend to get off the subject or the track! In any case, I hope you will all stop over at Cat's blog! She is an amazing woman , a true artist and she is a wonderful friend. Something brought the two of us together and I am so grateful that I know her. Her antique phones that I looked over today are so cool! There really isn't much on her site that I personally would not love for my own blog! But this new vintage look blog she designed for me is dreamy. Even my hubby loved it!

You know that I tend to be  clue-less with the technical end of blogging but between Cat and the many other folks over here who helped me out I just can not thank you enough.

J IS FOR JACKASS HILL ROAD

Welcome to Alpha-Be Thurday! I hope Mrs.Matlock won't wash my mouth out with soap for this one! But I have a great post for the letter J. It is Jackass Hill Road! It is located in Littleton, Colorado and there is a story behind it!

Prince Street which was terminated at Jackass Hill Road for years, was the first beast of burden honored by having a Littleton Street  named for him. Richard S.Little' s favorite horse, named Prince was thus recognized by the founder of the city in 1872. Then came 1917-18 when some enterprising man, thinking to corner the market on mules during World War I , tried to secure monopoly prices from the Army. The entrepreneur brought up American and Mexican mules by the score and prepared to make his fortune. But Germany surrendered on November 18, 1918, and the Army refused to buy.

The mule owner, so goes the legend, pastured his animals near the lane leading from Prince Street  west to Santa Fe. "The story I have always heard was the animals were left there to starve and the (hill and) road was named for them" said Mr. Lyman Ditson, who had lived near the Prince and Jackass Hill  corner for 36 years.

The Reverend Donald Cox was the pastor of  the Littleton Baptist Church which owned 16.7 acres  on the north side of Jackass and west of Prince. "When I told people I was going to build a church there, I got a lot of hee-haws", the minister said. "I reminded the jokers that the most important Prince of Peace rode into Jerusaleum on a jackass on Palm Sunday."

Another local resident,Mrs. T.L. Carson, has lived near Jackass Hill  since 1949, has heard no other explanation other then the one Mr. Ditson offered.

In 1984 when the Mineral underpass was completed, Jackass Hill Road was barricaded at the Rio Grande and Santa Fe railroad crossing, and Prince Street was extended south to Mineral. But on March 22, 1985 the Littleton City Council re-designated this portion of street as Jackass Hill Road., in order to preserve an important bit of the city's history.

The old and now isolated Jackass Hill Road  became a quiet place for young men to park with their girls and overlook the lovely  South Platte valley. Mischievous youths also came for the purpose of stealing the street signs ," Jackass Hill Road," for souvenirs.

In the summer of 1987, a group of Littleton city employees formed the Jackass Hill Ski Patrol to march in the Western Welcome Week grand parade. Sporting t-shirts with a cartoon jackass and the theme, "Catch the Spirit--Ski Jackass Hill" and carrying "Jackass Hill" street signs and ski poles and accompanied by a live jackass, they captured the hearts of the parade watchers and officials, winning the first place trophy.

Jackass Hill was rezoned for housing in 1993-94. In addition to approximately 100 homes on the site, a 17 acre open park is also located there.

I just had to post a quick note about this junk on the web! I know we can not avoid it but I have to say, my niece Holly sent me an e mail stating that she was closing her Face Book. She added her maiden name and B I N G O ! The nut jobs came out of the woodwork! Tonight, I had an "Urgent" e mail from an old friend. It was one of those scams, send me money quickly, blah,blah,blah! People is there really anyone that dumb out there in life??!!!???  The real Jonel knows me very,very well. She knows I could not afford to send her a long distance cheer from some ridiculous foreign country, of which I will not name and would never travel to because obviously, the village idiots there are so stupid they think they can get money from people who have none! HA!HA!HA!HA!

The scary part is they used her real e mail address and goofy as I am I thought perhaps she wants to win the trip to the Big Island in Hawaii with Princess House and putting a plea out early on for lots of orders! But after I read the first sentence I dumped the junk as spam and erased the whole mess!

Today on the country western radio station here, KYGO 98.5 FM they had a part two of a two part series on. They had on a local police detective posing on their computer as a 12 year old girl. The perverts out there are  like moths to a flame. Within 10 minuted a creep-o was talking to the cop like he wanted to help "Her" start her modeling career. Next thing you know the old creep was asking for pics of the 12 year old (a/k/a Police Detective) in varies states of undress!

Blah Blah Blah. I know your right of freedom of speech. But even  so...there should be no freedom of perverts cruising the internet for babies! Years ago, when my kids were small a local t.v. news station were on a stake out waiting for the cops to arrive to arrest a known pedophile.  The news anchor, seeing the guy walk out of his house, chased him down and started to beat the heck out of him! When the cops got there a minute or two later then had to pull the newscaster off the perp! It was so darn funny because he kept saying he kept thinking about his own kids and it made him so darn angry! My friend Sharons brother Teddy is a single father. When his daughter Monae was about 12 she and a friend walked from one house down the block to the other. A man standing in his doorway caught their attention! He started doing things to himself! Monae ran back home and told her dad. He called 9-1-1 and ran back to the house. As the police approached, they were like, "Mr. Hayes, you need to put his screen door down and you need to stop beating him with it." Her brother was so angry he tore the guys screen door off its hinges and beat the guy until the cops arrived! The cops later congratulated him for kicked the guys butt!

We live in such troubling times and all the politically correct garbage is so nauseating! But the criminals have rights and the victims, well, tough luck!

I just really felt like I needed to speak my mind on this one! Thanks for listening!

MEMORIES IN THE SAND

I love blogging and I enjoy meeting so many wonderful new faces. Last weekend I wrote a post with quotes and bible verses about Confucius, Buddha and Christ.I received a comment from Silver. I enjoy reading my comments so I decided to stop by her blog http://dreamymoonlight.blogspot.com/. She had many interesting posts and photos posted there. My eye caught a button on the bottom of her page. It said "Ben" and his name was written in the sand. It had a little message that said if you want to go to the site click on the photo. So I did.

From there I met Kay. She is a marvelous woman living in Australia and she will write your loved ones name in the sand if they have passed away. I took great comfort in this and sent an email to Kay. To make a long story short, and sometime I do tend to get carried away, Kay and I had a common bond. We both lost unborn children. So she went to her beach and wrote my baby Rachel's name in the sand. I can't describe the feeling I had seeing it when she sent the picture to me. I felt so calm yet so reassured that with my unborn baby's anniversary fast approaching I would feel more happiness then sadness simply because someone as kind and generous as Kay has taken the time to make a sadness in my life a priority in her's. I am thankful today to be here at Spiritual Sunday. I always warmly welcome you to stop by and I also thank Ginger and Charlotte at http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/ for being so generous and sharing this with us. Please stop by to say hello to them. The encouragement I get over at Spiritual Sunday is unbelievable. With the world is the shape it is in it is always good to reflect on your faith (or even lack of it!) and rethink your life's journey.

Today I will share my personal conversation with the Lord on August 19, 1993. I was admitted to the hospital in order to "prepare" for the birth of my son Nicholas, our last child. Having had children before him I was an old pro. But the resident doctor who admitted me did not have a clue. In his conversation, trying to scare the life out of me, he weaved stories of birthing horrors to me and told me very matter-a-factly that my baby was growing too quickly and his head was going to be huge...blah...blah.blah..

Now I do have some respect for medical professionals but folks, basically they are no different then you and I. They live and eat and breathe like the rest of us. So I talked to God. I remember saying to HIM, "Listen, if you can't shut this doctor up I am going to punch him out and repeat a steady stream of curse words!" God was not impressed with me. HE waited, and HE waited very patiently. By 9 o'clock that night (I was admitted at 7:00 A.M.) the genius doctor told my husband to go home and get his rest because no matter what at 7:00 A.M. the next morning we were going to have a baby!

When my husband kissed me gently on my forehead and bid me goodbye I turned my full attention to the Lord. I remember being so upset and frustrated. I said "Listen Lord, you are making me mad! I don't deserve this and you know it!  Now give me a sign!" Oh boy! Me and my signs! The Lord has never once let me down but I have learned to pray more carefully adding" and please don't let  a building fall down on my head!"

Oh did the Lord give me sign! I had the urge to read my bible which was sitting at my beside. When I grabbed that bible and flipped it open this is what it said ""My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" 2 Corinthians 12:9.  I could not take my eyes off that verse and today it hangs on our bedroom wall.

God was good, but not until straight up 4 o'clock that afternoon on a beautiful summer day, August 20, 1993. At that moment HE produced the most utterly perfect pink baby boy with a set of lungs to raise the un-living! I have never looked back without knowing GOD is so incredibly good. HE is the reason I wake every day. HE is the reason life continues for whatever reasoning HE may have. I learned this lesson on my first day of kindergarten and I have never forgotten it and I hope you will never forget it too. "Everything good comes from God." Whatever HIS reasons are HE will never leave you as long as you ask HIM to walk beside you.

I wanted to share this Andy Warhol pop art with Marilyn Monroe the fabulous celebrity from days gone by. Warhol was a very different sort of fellow but his art truly made a statement and many years after his death he is still very popular. He coined the phrase "fifteen minutes of fame" and he enjoyed a very popular career in art snapping celebrities for many of his photos.In his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA., The Andy Warhol Museum exists in memory of his life and artwork. Hope you enjoy the pic I choose.

Blog Difficulties

I have lost everything important here on the blog! I am sorry for the awful uncoordinated background. My background icon was gone from my Edit Page and all my words.

I an not sure what happened I may have to scrape everything and restart this blog. I am heartsick.

ALPHABE- THURSDAY

My goodness, it is time for Alphabe-Thursday already. I have to remember to link up but go over to jennymatlock.blogspot.com and check it out.

Today I  am showcasing   the Letter "I" which stands for  Ink! The dictionary says Ink is a fluid or viscous substance used for writing or printing. Sources say that ink was invented by the Chinese over 5000 years ago. The ink was a mixture of pine smoke and lamp oil, thickened with gelatin  from animal skins and musk!

Ink has changed throughout the years and we use it in our printers attached to our computers as well as to write letters to loved ones far away. Ink is used to create tatoos. Ink is what you are seeing as I am typing this post. It is really an amazing item and I hope you have enjoyed this quick little post. I am providing some google images to go with it. BRADY QUINN

When Irish eyes are smiling! I love that song! But I love Brady Quinn and he is the newest member of the Denver Bronco's. Brady attended Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana and he is one of my favorite quarterbacks. I watched Brady play for Notre Dame during his college years and I shouted for joy when he was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the NFL draft three years ago. He was going to play football for his hometown! Life can't get any better then that!

Now I have fairly decent eyesight and I know Brady is nice "eye candy" and he is easy on the eyes but he is a very talented young man, an eloquent speaker and a decent man. The kind of man all mom's like to watch grow up! I just love Brady cause if I could have one more son I think I would choose Brady! His mom is one lucky lady to have this guy as her son. Although Brady is also very lucky to have the terrific mom he has. After all, Brady would not be where he is if it weren't for his mom.  She helped raise one heck of a nice son!

So while I am trading in my number 10 Brady Quinn Cleveland Brown jersey for a BQ QB Bronco jersey, you can look at my boy Brady and sigh! He has the arms of a Greek god! Ahh....Here are some  cute pics of Brady to prove it!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

I am sorry I am so late wishing everyone a Happy Saint Patrick's Day! But I wanted to share one of my favorite dolls with you and the story behind him.

Meet Avery O'Robinson! Several years ago we were taking some items to the local Goodwill to donate and it started to rain.They closed the donation center early so as we were leaving I spied Avery out of the corner of my eye. He was tossed in a pile of rubble. Laying there so perfect and yet he was ready to get soaked in the rain and ruined! I snatched him up and home he came with me! He is perfect, no markings or tears in his clothing. His Irish red hair was soft and perfectly curled. He is an orignal Cabbage Patch Kid. The only missing from Avery is his adoption papers! But I call him Avery as he is the namesake of my dear hubby and I gave him the lovely Irish last name!I just wanted you to meet Avery and say hello.

Avery also wished you a Happy St. Paddy's Day!

I Won Troy's Giveaway and It Arrived Today

Oh My Goodness! I know I already bragged about this but my mini greenhouse arrived today.  I won this cool giveaway at Troy's "I Refuse To Recede". Now those of you that know me also know that whatever I do it sometime comes out backward! For instance, I was trying to cut  and paste the blog name so you could click on it but then it erased my whole post!

So here I go again...Redoing it so I can tell you about it.

Thanks Troy! I am so glad I won! I work in such a stressful office it is nice to be thought of so kindly by so many. I know I was choose my the random selector thingy but none the less I am so grateful to be the new owner owner of one of these cool greenhouses.

I will share more with you as I get my hubby to help me set it up and I will show you the bounty of herbs and maybe even start some tomatoes in here too!

Shopping My House Sunday

I take on too many things and end up doing nothing at all! I have a couple items to share today, but with the cold weather back I am in a total funk! So here goes something...

 I found this delightful little french poodle (sans the tp) in my linen closet when I was overhauling it last week. He is a very nice lemon yellow crocheted toilet paper holder. He was made by my sister-in-law's aunt Mayme. She whipped these little guys up like mad! I think he needs a nice bathroom to reside in so...

I want to put a bamboo floor in my main bath. It is fairly reasonable in price and my niece Holly knows a great bathroom floor guy who does great reasonable work. I will keep you up on the outcome of that project. I am not sure I want a yellow bathroom but maybe I can add this poodle to a neutral bath. Hmmm...

My front yard is taking shape. I see my tulips (red and yellow) are peeking through the cold ground. We cleaned the front yard yesterday when the temps hit the 50s so...

My back yard is about a quarter of an acre. I am not sure why these lots were cut so large in the 1960s. These little houses are brick ranch with most of them (but not mine ! :(   with one car garages. That is way too much grass to mow so currently there is lots of bare ground and a huge old dying tree. It is depressing actually but my son and his friend claim to have the desire to turn the backyard into a splendid area. We will have to wait and see.

I have an area back there that someone built up like a bin for a compost heap. So since it was years ago when I was a little kid and watched my grandfather hard at work maneuvering one of those heaps I will gladly take any suggestions out there so gardeners come forth and help your neighbor blogger!

I am going to use my win from Troy's site I Refuse To Recede, the mini greenhouse as a starter for my herb garden. I want to line my fence all around with wildflowers and currently I have a patio (covered) that will house my mini greenhouse. I am excited and waiting for it to arrive.

I have a few more treasures to share but this Spring forward time change has knocked my socks off! I am walking in a hazy state so I should sign off.

"TREES" BY JOYCE KILMER

Welcome to Spiritual Sundays! I am going to share one of my favorite poems with you today. It is titled "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer.He was  an American  journalist, poet,literary critic and editor. He wrote this lovely poem in 1913. I hope you like it.

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree.

A tree who's hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast.

A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray.

I like to rise early in the morning and look out my window and see God's beauty surrounding me. It makes me feel so happy and so content. I learned as a small child that everything good comes from God but I know it is true because I see it everyday. The simple pleasures in life are truly the best.

Your Pet Store.Com

Today was a beautiful day, with temps soaring into the 50s! It was cool and perfect and we worked our tails off cleaning around the house! We took a short rest and headed over to the Mile High Flea Market to see my husbands brother Mike and his father-in-law Clayton. They are the proprietors of the "Your Pet Store.Com". You can check them out on line as well as locally at the flea market located in Thornton/Denver, Colorado. They make many of  their own products and sell a very lovely line of pet collars, leashes and engraved pet tags to name a few. I have a few quick pics to share with you.

These are a few of the items they sell in the store and on line. You can go to  www.yourpetstore.com/ and check out their full line of pet products. I love the leashes they carry that prevent your dog from pulling on you. The collars are beautiful and they come in all sorts of patterns and colors. They have a full line of the spike collars for your big strong pets and carriers for the wee ones. My brother-in-law Mike helps out in the store and also many of the shows the do in the Denver Metro area. His wife Lois and her dad Clayton make many of the products and Clayton even dyes the leather. His wife Bea helps run the store too. They have a nice business and it is locally owned and Colorado proud.

We always have fun visiting them at the store and we get to see peoples pets. Today we saw the tiniest little Yorkie. They were buying her a pigs ear, one of those great chewy things that was nearly as big as the pup. They also sell hand engraved pet tags for all your pets needs. I love to watch them engrave the stainless steel tags. Today someone asked for a tag for their dog named "Jay". My brother-in-law once was asked to engrave a dog's name which is unprintable! I am shocked that someone would give their poor pet a nasty name!

But going to the flea market is a fun place and if you are in the Denver Metro area and stop by the Mile High Flea Market stop in to see them at Your Pet Store.
