BLUE MONDAY/ LOVE IS...

Aren't these blue and white kitties just precious?  I was in a Mother's Day that my good friend  Mollyehosted a few years ago. Because of that swap Mollye and I became dear friends and I met Linda. I am telling you all this because Linda gave me this kitties in that swap and I treasure them so much! They hold a special place in my curio cabinets. I recently moved them from the kitchen cabinet to the china hutch downstairs. I thought you would like to see these cuties for Blue Monday. I hope you will visit Sally and all the blue crew very soon!
I tried to capture my kitties in my favorite retired Princess House cloche. Notice that little birdie watching those kitties from above?
Stop over and visit  Marydon today. She hosts our sweet Love is...this one is a reminder that my Sweets is a terrific cook and I like to sit down and enjoy a nice meal with him often!

Enjoy the week and thanks for stopping by!

Perfect for the Pink Saturday crowd and Ms. Beverly! I may be late but I love participating and visiting so forgive me because of my lateness and watch for me to pop over very soon!
Pink tulips for the Springtime! I am patiently waiting for Spring to spring forth!
These pretty pastels are perfect for a child's birthday party but....
These are perfect for me!

Please visit all the pinkies today and enjoy these signs of Spring for it is sure to come!

J is for Jeet Kune Do

Anyone who has known me for a while will know that my Sweets loves Bruce Lee! So I thought I would change my Alphabe Thursday theme this week and write a little about Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee was the founder of this martial arts and it is practiced widely even today thirty nine years after the death of Bruce Lee. This is the style of martial arts that my Sweets studied when he was younger. The symbol above is Yin and Yang, the Chinese characters  meaning using no way as way and having no limitations as limitations. Bruce Lee felt that marital arts had become to rigid and unrealistic and called  the competition of it "dry land swimming". He believed that combat was spontaneous , and that a martial artist can not predict it, only react to it,  and that a good martial artist should be like water and move fluidly without hesitation. Jeet Kune Do practitioners believe in minimal movement with maximum effect and extreme speed. Bruce Lee was a master of the martial arts. He was so quick that on film it had to be slowed to slow motion in order to capture his moves! The system of these particular martial arts style works on the system of using different tools for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (kicking, punching, trapping and grappling). The techniques flow smoothly between them. It is referred to as a style without style or the art of fighting without fighting! Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned. It is a philosophy with guiding thoughts.

In 2004 the Bruce Lee Foundation decided to use the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do to refer to the martial arts system that Bruce Lee founded. "Jun Fan" was his Chinese given name. I hoped you learned a little more about this style of martial arts and you will stop by Ms. Jenny's and join all the fun!

Pink Spa Pretties, Love is...,Blue Monday

Welcome to my very late PINK SATURDAY! I want to thank Beverly for her kind heart and the fact that she works so hard and tirelessly each week to bring it all together for a bountiful pink weekend.
My son-in-law Roger drew my name for our Secret Santa this Christmas. Here is part of my gift a pretty Olay bath care set. This is a terrific home style spa and I could use it after the long difficult time we had at our office. It is good to get back on our feet and get into the new year with a clean slate!
Join Marydon and me for Love is...This is a very special one for me! My oldest sister was indeed an army bride! I was just a little kid when she married but she was a happy soul! We lost her twelve years ago February 2001. I miss her today and always.
This was her wedding. In those days the wedding photos were taken at the Mineral Palace Park in my hometown. They had such a lovely venue to set up wedding photos. My older brother is on the left (second on your left) and my older sister is the flower girl on your far left! I was too tiny to participate!
Blue skies following the road to Gunnison, Colorado. Hannah's honey Markus will graduate from the university up there May 11th. We will hopefully travel that road in the crisp clear Spring weather. May is going to be a busy month! My Sweets and I will celebrate twenty nine years of marriage May3rd. Markus graduates May 11th. We pick Nick up at college May 18th and Rebekah graduates from the university here in Denver May 19th! Whew! I hope you will join Sally and all the blues for Blue Monday tomorrow.

Thanks for all the prayers for my brother-in-law John. He was admitted to the Veteran's Hospital here in Denver last night. They finally found a team of doctors who found out what he needed to start healing. Since he was not in the military during an active war he has no in patient benefits. Due to his condition they were able to admit him! Praise God!

Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

"I" is for Ice Scuptures

I wanted to complain about the icy weather we are having! But I know most of you are having the same weather so why be boring? Instead of sharing complaints I decided to share a few fun ice sculptures! I am very amazed ! These are beautiful and show a rare and unique talent. This is truly creative!
The Eiffel Tower! Isn't this a fabulous work of art?
A motorcycle! I wonder if it is an American made Harley Davidson!

An ice dragon! Yikes! I am sure I worked with some people like this through the years!
A favorite! A fairy princess carriage! I don't care what anyone else thinks! I love dreamy stuff like this! Sigh!
Love, love, love this swan! The cemetery where our daughter Rachel is buried is a Catholic cemetery and it is very peaceful and beautiful. Swans swim in the Springtime and Summer in a beautiful waterway which you see from a lovely bridge!
These look like a couple of warriors! Too bad they aren't running our government!
This one is most interesting! Any takers on exactly what this represents?

Stop by Ms. Jenny's and join all the "I" posts today! Just say "I" sent you!

Quick prayer requests please! Nick and his track team mates travel to Texas Friday and Saturday to run indoor track! Please pray that they have safe travels and run strong!

Continue to pray for John, my Sweets younger brother. He is in a Montana hospital recovering from a stroke and my sister-in-law was planning to fly out there and bring him to Colorado to recuperate. The hospital social worker said he would have to leave Thursday! He is a Veteran so she is trying to get him moved to the VA Hospital there or in Denver. The neurologist told her tonight that John is not going anywhere! He can not travel and if they can move him to the VA Hospital the hospital will make those arrangements. Continue to pray for all of them. Her husband is on the bus traveling from Wyoming, where he works, planning to travel with her Thursday.'

Pray for Bridget. She is my friend who has been unemployed for quite some time. Her husband has some back problems and his work is seasonal. They were down to their last twenty five dollars when she received a letter from an insurance co. Her late ex husband named her beneficiary on  a life insurance policy and it took the insurance company twenty seven years to track her down! Pray she gets to our hometown safely and all goes smoothly with the transfer of funds. She could really use a nice windfall right now! Thank you.

"H" is for Hearts and Heroes!

Do you have everyday heroes in your life? I know I do! Sometime all those little things add up and suddenly you are staring into the face of a real live hero! Although I am late and missed my post for Alphabe Thursday I will put up my post anyway! I owe it to Ms. Jenny. She works hard each week to make sure we share our thoughts with each other. I love it!  I have meet some wonderful folks here. Lots of creative hearts, terrific minds, talented writers, collectors of many different things!

Recently I was visiting Brenda at  cozylittlehouse and met her dear friend Judy. She shared a story of herself and her husband. visiting all the everyday places where they shop, get Judy's nails and hair done and have a quick breakfast, just to name a few! Her sweet hubby was dressed as Santa during the holidays and Judy as an elf (although she was very shy and would not share a photo of herself ). They were handing out little gifts and candy canes to people that make a daily difference in their lives. There are everyday heroes all over the place!

If someone can share a smile with you, it may be the very thing you need to get through your day! Take Simone. She is one amazing lady. She had struggled with some health issues in 2012 but her kind heart and terrific sense of humor draws you into her space. She is a good example of an everyday hero! Always looking for ways to make someone else have a brighter day!

Do you know  Myra? She is one of those interesting people who shares her heart! She is always filled with encouraging words and is a lot of fun to be around! One of these days I am going to make an effort to meet her in person!

In fact I want to meet all of my blog friends! I think we have one amazing network of people who help us in different ways.

How about some pink fudge for Beverly and all the Pinkies? Many of you have participated with Pink Saturday and celebrated many blogaversary's! This would be a sweet treat for Valentine's Day too! Visit Shelly. She has a sugar addiction and shares this recipe and many more divine sweet treats!

Now we need some blue! That way we can head over to Sally's and share Blue Monday!
Blueberries are a favorite treat! Filled with fiber they are helpful in lowering  the risk for cancer as well as promoting longevity. Plus after all the rich holiday foods we normally share this is a nice and heart healthy treat! Thank you google image for this sweet photo to share!
Marydon is always ready to share Love is... with you and me! I thought my heart theme would fit perfectly here today! The heart really is at the core of each relationship!

I hope you have enjoyed my mix of several memes! I am really behind on everything I do and combined several different thoughts here.

Thanks for thinking of Nick and praying for him too! The college posted results rather late but out of 30 other mile runners Nick came in 8th with a 4:44 mile! We are always proud of Nick and his team mates too! Nick loves track and field and is really finding his place!

Praying, Thinking, Hoping

Today my hubby found out his younger brother had a stroke. He is living alone in Bozeman, Montana. He had the flu and fell and hit his head on a dresser. He had internal bleeding and they found out he had  a stroke when he made it to the hospital. He has no insurance but he is a Veteran of the US Navy and spent eight years in the military. My sister-in-law is taking charge. She wants to go up there and help out. Please pray. We are all struggling but pray she can get up there and help him out. I am grateful my hubby talked with his sister. It is a good thing to stick together during these difficult times.
Pray for Nick too. He and his team mates run indoor track at Kansas City tomorrow at 7 P.M. They will run in the Johnson County Cavalier Cup in Overland Park, Kansas. We are sad we can not be there either. But pray they all run well and they travel to and from the meet safely.
Tomorrow I am hopeful to get back to blogging as I started my Alphabe Thursday post. I have had my mind on all the tragedies going on around us. But my heart has been on the Oklahoma City Bombing. It has been weighing heavily on my mind since the latest shooting and with the Aurora Shooting trial going on here I am having a tough time thinking about much else.
So I am praying, thinking and hoping.

A New Year With Reflections of the Past

I had grand plans for this 2013 blog! I was going to post daily! That did not happen and we are only five days into the new year! But I am going to share a few vintage finds I picked up at the thrift store this week:

Four different tea cups. Three of them have saucers to match! All of them have Christmas designs and they cost less then three dollars for all four! Seventy five percent off! I love the December teacup. It is so precious.
This blue lady is a figurine from the Home Interior Co. I could never afford them when they were in the line. She was three dollars and in mint condition!
This blue dressed girl is Diana although she looks very much like Cinderella. Two dollars with her stand and she is all porcelain and still wears her hand tag! Tomorrow is the Feast of the Epiphany so the pretty angel behind her will be put up with the other Christmas decorations. Sigh!
A fun recipe filled cookbook. The two authors still live in Colorado. One dollar and twenty five cents! I have four recipes I am going to try.
Rose, oops, she is not for sale nor was she on the clearance table! Looks like Rose was trying to get in on the Carol Wright catalog bargains! Hee Hee! I wish I could turn my head in such a fashion! That cat is so limber and silly. She jumps high like a kangaroo! There is a blue shirt here!

Ella is new!She was lonely so Santa and the Mrs. took her under their wing. Don't you love her bare foot peeking from beneath her pretty dress? She was designed by Rhissanna Collins who has a sweet etsy shop. Ella thought my daughter Rebekah was a gem for giving me that pretty Christmas card with a personal message inside!

My vintage Santa and Mrs. Claus were shelf sitters from Home Interior. Sigh!
In 2002 the teddy bear celebrated his 100th anniversary! I found this tiny bear with a beautiful commemorative mug for $2.50 at the thrift store. He even wears glasses like Teddy Roosevelt! Hee Hee!
My youngest daughter Hannah gave me this beautiful Willow Tree figure with a bouquet of calla lilies. she is called "Best Wishes". My blue kitty in this photo!
She is in the kitchen cabinet with some other friends until I rearrange from the holidays! I love her. She will be happy to see her friend the kitchen tea Willow Tree figurine who holds a precious green teapot in her hands! Also a gift form Hannah! I know you will see pink and blue in my cabinet!
House of Lloyd was the first home based party plan I did years ago with my good friend Cindy Miller-Jones. Harry Lloyd prided his company by selling many items made in the USA! This sweet cottage framed photo was one of those items. Two dollars today at the thrift store. I see pink in the garden!
This Home Interior treasure has a few knicks on the dark cherry frame but this beautiful scene in a field of flowers is so reminiscent of a Monet painting. I am thinking of repainting the frame. what color do you think would look good? Lots of pretty pink in this field of flowers!
Rebekah and Hannah. Sisters. New Years Eve 2012. Hannah was going to work in the early morning hours last week. She stepped on something in the parking lot and when she bent over to see what it was she nearly cut her finger off. Someone tossed an empty beer bottle in the parking lot of the pre school center where she works! Sisters in blue jeans!
Zach (Rebekah) and Markus(Hannah) celebrating the fact that the world did not end in 2012!

Hannah and Jayden! She is silly, he is unhappy! He likes to talk on the phone and hates to give you your cell phone back! Especially I-phones like Jeremy and Hannah use! Hannah is always pretty (silly) in pink!
Jeremy and Colton. We watched Colton win both of his wrestling matches today! It was a very good day! Colton's school is represented by the "Mustangs". They have a bit of blue in their colors!
Although this is Nick coming home from Kansas tomorrow he will turn around and head back! I will be very sad. He is my lunch buddy. Always and forever! I will look forward to see my handsome son soon. Pray he has a safe return flight. I am going to have to sell more Princess House so I can fly there to see him run indoor and outdoor track!

Noelle with my precious mom. My mom would have turned 99 years old on January 4th. But she went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2001. We really miss her.

My mama was a stunning beauty. I believe she was in a wedding here. I love that gorgeous dress. She had a lovely figure! My honey printed a copy of this photo for me. It is 8 x 10 and has a pink hue!

It is late and I am tired. I helped my honey do the Saturday mail at his job. Then we went to Colton's wrestling match. Both Noelle and Roger had to work! Hannah, Markus and Nick were already there when we arrived. Jeremy came later and we all watched him win both of his matches. It is a good sport for him. My grandson is a good kid. He has a kind heart! I like those a lot! Nick has a ten o'clock flight which means we need to be at the airport by eight!

I am sharing my pinks, my blues and this Love is...today . Joining Linda for her Gratitude Sunday post too! Please visit these ladies who host these fun meme's each week:
