Happy Thursday and More

This flowering bush in our backyard attracts butterflies. They are some of my favorite things. Last weekend the bush had green sprouts on it and this week it is flowering. I took a close up so you could see the flowers. It's  a different kind of Happy Thursday for me today but one that sure makes me happy.
Love is....made me smile too. This is me anytime I have to fly. If my honey isn't with me, I can't do it.  It also made me smile about a story I heard about one of my dad's sister's.  Auntie Ann S. was a widow and one time she was flying to upstate New York to visit my Auntie Millie and Uncle Sam and phamily. She was not a calm frequent flyer so she planted her feet firmly on the ground as they were about to take off.  Today it is still known as "the BoJon Brace"! They are all gone now but I fondly remembering hearing that story from a cousin. My dad was never on an airplane. He use to say "if God wanted me to fly, he would have given me wings."
I have been in a very serious mood lately. Not liking the way of this world. Not enjoying the lies and seeing hatred spill out so easily everywhere. I choose to trust God.  I Know He will previal and all the nastiness of this world will be washed away.
Instead of just talking about my own childhood and the beauty of it I decided to add a few stories bout my husband. This is Park Hill Baptist Church and he attended it as a child. Until his folks made the switch to the Church of the Nazarene. Park Hill has been in the Pueblo, Colorado area since 1950. The church changed names a few times but it's longevity says something about the type of church it was . My late mother-in-law loved the Church of the Nazarene but when she passed away the pastor affiliated with the hospice that helped care for her. He is the one that helped the phamily through the funeral. Thus, my hubby a Christian not involved with a religious organization, One of his dearest friends was a Catholic priest. The funny thing is, neither one cared much about all the man made traditions of churches and holding themselves to a higher standard. They were two guys who both hoped to meet Jesus at those pearly gates one day. Pastor went there first. We remember he always ended conversations with Avery by one of them saying, remember if you get to heaven first, remind God not to forget me.
The Mesa drive in was a fun place. It was the last standing drive in movie theater.  I am unsure if it is still opened or will be but there are lots of memories going there in high school and even as a newlywed when we visited home.  I recently heard with all the chaos going on that in door movie theaters may be a thing of the past. Drive in's will be the only place to see new movies. I am not much of a fan of the modern Hollywood celebs flapping their jaw, giving  their personal opinions about everything. Pick a career and stick to it. It is all I can say.
My childhood friend Karen has a older sister, actually two of them. Her middle sister Marian was married at one time to one of the Donley's, they owed the dairy in our hometown. My mom always had milk delivered fresh to our front door.
Here's a photo of the milk box similar to the one my mom had. They had quite a wonderful business. Sadly those businesses are being torn apart today. Just look around.
Our milk box has been a good friend in these trying times. I Love that these folks go the extra mile for their customers. I am grateful we started buying from the dairy when we moved into our house  here in 2010. They offer more then just milk but a wide variety of products including bread and juice and even the best Colorado made toffee we have ever had during the Christmas holiday season. My gratitude doesn't even begin to say how wonderful it is to have these thankful gifts every week.
This kids chore chart made me smile. I do not understand why so many kids today are so pampered and don't have to do simple household tasks.  Having a good work ethic is something your are never too young to learn. The notion that someone will always be there to take care of you is pure nonsense.
Sweet dreams!

We love to see the butterflies, they are very relaxing to watch. We saw that some drive-ins were making a comeback since the virus is in town. When the Dad was growing up one of his uncles was the milk man delivering milk all around town. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

I love that old milk wagon. We had a milk truck that delivered our milk and dairy products when I was a kid. I think it would be awesome if the drive in theatres came back. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

What a great post!
Chuckling about the BoJon Brace, on account that's probably what I look like. Knowing that I'm a fear-full flyer, my former hubby always used to hold my hand on take-off, too.
Love the story of Avery and the priest! I'd never heard of a milk-box before; I do hope and pray those small businesses will manage to survive this season of horror.

We used to have a drive- in, but it closed when I was in high school. I think it was more than $1 though :)

Ah, butterflies. We see them sometimes, but not often enough for me.

There is a local dairy here, but we simply don't drink enough milk to get delivery. It's okay, their product is at every local store, so we do get local when we need it.

Love your stories, and i am with your dad and other relatives, i hate to fly.

One thing my children learned to do was work.
