Pretty in Pink

Welcome to Pink Saturday! I hope you visit Beverly and other pinkies for a day filled with lovely pinkness! I have a few shares myself today:
My little niece all pretty in pink! Heading off to the first day of school.

Next year I am hopeful I have these filling my front yard. My mother had four o'clocks filling our front and back yard. My dad always laughed because some of them were blooming over the ground where the septic tank was! He said that was why they were so pretty and full!. I love how they bloom on command at 4:00 A.M. and again at 4:00 P.M. I think my blooms will be pink and yellow!
Enjoy your pink day!

"M" is for Moon

I don't want to miss my "M" post today!  So I want to share one of my very favorite things, the moon!
This is a full moon! I like to see the moon shine down on us when it is full. Sometime in the Autumn it looks like a ball of orange fire! So exciting and beautiful!

"And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also."  Genesis 1:16

Did you know that the moon may appear blue after a volcanic eruption? This moon is lovely.
I think this moon looks like a bowling ball! Shiny and gorgeous!

"From The Rime of The Ancient Mariner"
By Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1824)

The moving moon went up the sky.
And nowhere did abide:
Softly she was going up,
And a star or two beside.

This moon is setting against a lone tree. Reminds me of the upcoming fall and cooler weather.

The last photo image from google sets the mood for a fun children's nursery rhyme from the 1700's

Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such a sport
And the dish ran away with the spoon!

I hope you enjoyed my moon tonight! Please visit Ms. Jenny and all the Alphabe Thursday's folks! We have so much fun and always learn something new!

Please read my previous post. I would greatly appreciate you if you did that for me!

A New Journey

Dreading this day and here it is. Nick boarding a plane, leaving for college. Who thought of this idea? Although I am very proud of this young man I am sad. My heart hurts! It feels empty because I will no longer have my lunch buddy. For nearly 19 years this child of mine has sat across from me and had lunch with me! We shared our day with each other. We spent lots of time together watching "Arthur" on T.V. In case you don't know, Arthur is an aardvark. We watched Arthur grow up on PBS.

Do you know the song "You Are My Sunshine"?  It plays in my head as I write today. But I say you are my "son"shine! I like music, it helps make me feel better.  But if someone walked through my door and turned on the radio and I heard "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison I would burst into tears again! You see, I happen to love that song! It is one of those songs you can crank up on the radio and sing along to! Nick's sisters and I have trapped him inside the car and sang that song at the top of our lungs! You see, Nick dislikes that song, intensely! So whenever I hear it I think of Nick!

I know leaving home and getting a college education is a good thing. I know Nick is blessed. He will receive lots of wonderful encouragement. He will run with a new team and make new friendships. It will be a wonderful experience.

I will learn to handle it all. I start to think about loved ones and many people I don't even know who have lost their children and will have to wait for eternity to see them again. So I know I am fortunate to have Nick. I will hug him, kiss him and hold him close than I will turn and let him go. He deserves his own adventure. His journey has just begun.

"The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness." Honore de Balzac

"Mothers all want their sons to grow up to be president, but they don't want them to become politicians in the process." John Fitzgerald Kennedy

"I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." Abraham Lincoln

"Be careful to leave your sons well instructed, rather than rich, for the hopes of the instructed are better than the wealth of the ignorant." Epictetus

NOTE:  I participate in the Senior Birthdays over at Colorado Lady.  I have my cards ready to mail and each senior gets one dollar for most of us that participate. One month a sweet little lady in the nursing home had no shoes of her own! Our dollars helped her get a pair so she would not need to borrow shoes from her friend. It is just a feel good kind of program to participate in. I purchase cards at the Dollar Tree store so I get a lot of cards for my money and they are beautiful and thoughtful.

I am just asking anyone who would send Nick a birthday card (August 20) to email me for his address. He seems to be ok but I think he will feel a little sad on his birthday so far from home. If you want to send a card e mail me at phamilybusiness1@aim.com and I will send you his address.

I have found that making a person smile is one of the most joyful things we can do. If you don't participate with Suzanne please stop by her blog and she will gladly send you the names and addresses of the seniors. Also if you have a senior to share just e mail her and she will add them to the September list and so on. Thanks for listening, Enjoy your day!

Blue Monday: Take A Hike!

I was going to post some random photos for Blue Monday but my oldest daughter and her hubby and son took a hike today! After breakfast at a phamily favorite The Buff they took a hike to Lefthand Canyon in Boulder, Colorado. I am sharing her photos for some blue!
 Colton is a daredevil!
Even the water is blue today!

Father (in blue jeans!) and son horsing around!
Colton hanging out in a cervice!
Colton and Roger! They love having fun!
Colton is a wildman!
That sky behind Colton could not get any bluer!
Roger hanging out way up high!
Noelle and Roger. Having a beautiful day together!
My favorite women's basketball team! Go USA and they did! All the way to the Gold!
Ladies from the USA going for the gold!
Hey girls, we got the gold!

I could not leave you without a basketball memory for the USA! I love these ladies and have followed them for many years! It is fun to see the gals who have done it before and also to see the young new talent emerging! Plus all this USA blue fits into the Blue Monday theme.
Our son Jeremy celebrated his 27th birthday August 9th. Rebekah's honey Zach the 12th and Nick the 20th! So we had a large sheet cake made up for the three of them! Then someone decided "how about an ice cream cake".
So we bought a smaller DQ ice cream cake. They wrote simply "Happy Birthday Guys" on it! It was a nice evening with phamily, friends and barbecue!
Now please stop by and visit Sally and all those awesome blues!

L is for Laughter

I am very blessed! I have spent most all of my life enjoying laughter! I love to laugh and watch others laugh as well. I thought it would be good medicine for my aching heart! Losing my baby boy to college nine hours away is making me sad so I think about funny things a lot! Being with my husband there is always one thing you will do, laugh! He makes the funniest remarks and says some of the silliest things!  Like "Hannah go to store, bring us a bag of ice and remember food for my alligator." Hannah complies. His odd sense of humor comes from his own father who was always capable of making me laugh! Two of our daughters, Rebekah and Hannah inherited his sense of humor! Noelle and Jeremy have their own laughable moments and Nick can be plain silly too! But my Sweets, he is the Master of Laughter!

Did you know that the USA does not even come close to the list of "Happiest countries in the world". Denmark is ranked number one. They have a high employment rate of 73%!  Norway is second with quality public health and education and a budget surplus of 162.5%  of GDP. Even Israel makes the list at number six. They have one of the lowest obesity rates! Look at Jayden, even as a tiny baby, he could toss out a hardy laugh! He turns one next month. Where does time go?

I worked with a doctor who was always so serious. He did not like laughter and if he heard laughter he would come out of his office and ask why we were laughing!
Here are some laughable moments:

Hannah and Markus, always having too much fun!
Maxine makes light of everything. You gotta love her!
Roger and the grandbaby. Believe me, those two are up to something!
Rebekah, Naomi, Alyssa. Friends forever and always laughing, living life!

No other comment required!

You know cats and dogs will always try to outdo each other for attention! Cats, I think are much more devious which is apparent here!
I can always laugh at myself! This is one of those laughable moments, cutting ones own bangs the day before school pictures!
Up to something?.....Leaving  his poor mother behind for college!? ? The nerve!
Oh the goat! There is a loooong story behind the goat! My son Jeremy is absolutely silly!

Rebekah, Dan (USN) and Hannah. Who's so pretty in pink?
Noelle is pretty in pink too! Look at Jayden! What happened to that tiny baby?
This pink quote makes you think! I was so fed up with all the political garage on Face Book and all the nonsense about special rights, why can't we just relax, be kind and agree to disagree. I think we need to have more fun!
We were just talking, all the kids have plans today. Jeremy is at West Fest a big free concert where his buddy Adam and his band will perform in Fort Collins today. Rebekah and Zach are going camping. For a girl who loves five star hotels (giggle) like her mama this is going to be an adventure! Hannah is a sleepy head. Swapping stories with cousin Lindsay late into the night. We never know when she will emerge from the darkness into the light! Laugh Out Loud! Nick is hanging out with buddies. Everyone is leaving for college this week so they are getting in their last days of manly man time! Yesterday Nick ran a final run with his high school team and met Bradley Harkrader a record holder at his high school who still holds some of the best times. Then he came home and Joe Coors came to our door. Yes Joe is part of the beer family but he is a successful businessman in his own right and came door to door to meet voters because he is running for office in Colorado! Nick was impressed! So my Sweets and I will curl up like this Love is...couple later and watch the final moments of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Now enjoy this bouquet of pretty pink and assorted friendship flowers I arranged just for you! Please visit Ms. Jenny and all the "L" posts there. I am late and probably will get a a failing grade! But I love the friendships there and enjoy this tremendously! Next tell Beverly how much everyone does appreciate her weekly preparations for Pink Saturday. She is a terrific pinkie and I can always find a pink or two to share! Visit lots of pinkies! They love you! Before you leave stop by Marydon and Sherry's and see how sweet Love is...really is.

BLUE MONDAY: BECAUSE I AM BLUE!

Some Hawaiian waterfalls here. Just for you! Look at that blue sky!
Blue skies on the road to Gunnison. It is a favorite place I love to travel to and once I am on the other side of the mountain I like it there!
A share from a Facebook friend. I know we all feel troubled at times. But even with the blue waters Christ is there to hold us up and travels safely along with us in our lives.
I am very proud of Jeremy. Pictured here(navy blue shirt) with former Denver Bronco Terrell Davis (he was promoting his barbeque sauce). Jeremy recently graduated from college, is not teaching but found a nice job with his big sis Noelle at an insurance co. The benefit package is nice and he has high hopes to advance. He thinks he would like to be an insurance underwriter.
I hope you will visit Sally and the blues over at Blue Monday. I am blue cause my baby boy is going to be leaving on that jet plane August 14th. The moving process to his college went well. I will post later. The weather was S I Z Z L I N G 1
