Day 6: Childrens Poetry by Eugene field (1850-1895): With Trumpet and Drum/My BoJon Heritage and Pink Saturday

With big tin trumpet and little red drum,
Marching like soldiers, the children come!
It 's this way and that way they circle and file---
My! but that music of theirs is fine!
This way and that way, and after a while
They march straight into this heart of mine!
A sturdy old heart, but it has to succumb
To the blare of that trumpet and beat of that drum!

Come on, little people, from cot and from hall---
This heart it hath welcome and room for you all!
It will sing you its songs and warm you with love,
      As your dear little arms with my arms intertwine;
It will rock you away to the dreamland above---
Oh, a jolly old heart is this old heart of mine,
And jollier still is it bound to become
When you blow that big trumpet and beat that red drum!

So come; though I see not his dear little face
And hear not his voice in this jubilant place,
I know he were happy to bid me enshrine
His memory deep in my heart with your play---
Ah me! but a love that is sweeter than mine
Holdeth my boy in its keeping to-day!
And my heart it is lonely---so, little folk, come,
March in and make merry with trumpet and drum!

Eugene Field 1850-1895 With Trumpet and Drum

Eugene Field was an American poet who wrote childhood poetry and humorous essays. He wrote the poem Wynken, Blynken and Nod. His father was an attorney who defended the slave Dred Scott who sued for his freedom.  This lawsuit is often referred to as the lawsuit that started the Civil War.

I love poetry and have been introducing some to Harrison when I watch him on Fridays. I am also listening to various types of music with him.  I love reading to him and he likes the Dr. Seuss books a lot!
Hey good looking cousins! Devin, Harrison and Jayden had a fun filled day today. Devin and Jayden saw the movie The Secret Life of Pets with us and their grammie and grandpa, Noelle and Roger. Harrison stopped by later on to have a visit with his folks.
Jayden is so silly! He loves his colorful cast. He has become so fearless he wanted to jump on the trampoline at Grammie Noelle's house. She told him no, he already has one fractured arm from a zipline! This boy starts kindergarten next week.
Another favorite photo of mine. These guys make a gal smile!

This google image of a pretty pink and white pillow made me smile. Premier Designs has a silver bracelet that has these same words engraved on it. I LOVE that simple bracelet.
I am going to be giving one of these bracelets away in a drawing I will have for everyone who purchases at least $75 in Premier Designs jewelry. It is a fun way to see the beautiful quality of their jewelry without a lot of hassle. I am easy peasy when it comes to sales and I love those people who call and want to give me an order without having to host their own show. W live in such busy times we often have too much on our plates to begin with. Cheryl who is my Avon lady gave me a nice order and she was not a big jewelry person. Because she surprised me with such a terrific order she surprised herself at the cool things she could wear and will now be an avid customer! I think Beverly and the Pinkies might like that pillow. Maybe some of them would like a pretty bracelet too.
I've never been inside a pink church, have you? This pinterest find made me curious as to what else I could find in pink inside this walls. HPS to all! Have a great weekend.

Day Five: Favorite BoJon Food Memories and A Number One Son Has A Birthday

This google image made me smile. Although Kraft Butter Mints were not sLOVEnian in nature, my sweet grandmother Steblay kept these gems in her drawer for the kids. She always gave us a handful of these buttery soft mints that melted in your mouth. She was an awesome grandma. These will always spark that memory of a wonderful childhood and the good people I shared it with.

My grandmother was a remarkable woman. She is pictured her with my oldest sister Pat. I often wish my sister were still here so she could share her memories of Grandma with me.
I wish I had a photo of my late cousin Sammy with Grandma Kocman. He told me one of the fondest memories he had of our paternal grandparents were spending Sunday afternoons watching baseball with her and Grandpa K making root beer floats. My paternal grandmother was ill most of her life and I do not have as many fond memories of her as I do with Grandma Steblay.
I do not have many photos of my paternal grandmother or grandfather. I adored my Grandpa K. He was a gifted storyteller. As a young child I wish someone would have had a tape recorder. I would love to listen to what he had to say.
Potica is such a wonderful food. It is filled with honey and ground walnuts, fresh cream, butter and often folks add raisins. My mom did not. I have searched and searched for the perfect potica. I have found a few that come close to my mom's secret recipe from the Women's Glory in the Kitchen cookbook. There is a company in Evergreen, Colorado and they appear to be from the same area as my ancestors. They make potica like the kind my mom made from the area of  Ljubljana, Slovenia. There is a company in Minnesota  called sunrise Bakery in Hibbing, Minnesota. This old school Italian family also makes a very decent potica. Of course, in my hometown of Pueblo, Colorado you will find some of the best potica.
Kolbasi is a traditional sLOVenian sausage and the very best can be purchased at Frank's Market in Pueblo, Colorado. Sometime it is wise to preorder it as they sell it out quickly. My uncle Edward "Munson" Trontel was co owner of the market with his brother-in-law Frank Javornik. Since the folks are all gone the children run the business today, Their meat is delicious and they had also owned their own feedlot and had anti biotic free cattle.
Ham is a good choice to bring to the table along with kolbasi.  Ah...the good memories and flavors and smells make me homesick for my mom's cooking. She was a great cook and I miss her terribly.
My mother always had her apron on and was a social creature which I imagine is where I get my ability to converse with almost anyone.

Happy birthday to our number one son today! He shares this day with my mom's older sister Mary Steblay Mishmash. Although my mom lost her sister to Alzheimer's she was a quiet and very sweet little lady.  I only have a wedding photo of her and Uncle Charlie to share.
Photos are such an important part of our heritage. I am hoping many will allow me to share their photos here. I am going to put my blog into volumes of books so I have that history to pass down.
Jeremy and Brittany 2014 at a Bronco game. I betcha didn't figure that one out huh? Laughing Out Loud!
You might not guess this guy loves those Denver Broncos! So happy birthday to an awesome son! A terrific guy!

Day Four: BoJon Loves Babies

I bet you thought I was going to show you more brides. I will, eventually. After all I have 27 more days to share this wonderful heritage with you. I have to tell you I started this blog draft and then lost my aol account and this blog. I will admit my attitude was less then nice. I was so stressed I had a pounding headache for three days! Still don't have any access to aol but by the grace of God I got back into my blog. I am so happy. I can not tell you exactly how but one thing I wish blogger and google and everyone else had was more live customer service and we could speak to someone who speaks our own language. It would make life so easy over here. Anyway thank you blogger for some of the tips you gave me to try to get back in here. Praying this will continue because trying to access a new blog is too much work!

So BoJon's love babies, oh heck, we love all children! Both of my parents came from very large phamilies. Although their parents experienced so much tragedy and lost some of their children they persevered in life. Those folks were strong in their faith and their love for each other.  We try to carry on their traditions and their faith and love for phamily. Here is Michael. Oh this great grand boy is fearless. Such a different personality from his older brother Jayden who was more cautious at Michael's age. I say "was" because my buddy Jayden has broken his collar bone and now has a fracture in his elbow bone! This boy became more fearless and let go of the zip line he was cruising along on. His sense of humor and his ability to smile through his pain is something I don't see in adults much less a small boy who turns five in less then one month.
You can see his broken arm and of course, he writes right handed and will start kindergarten in two weeks. Miss Drazah lives in a small farming community with her mom these days but we are so happy when they come to town. She is a smart and sassy girl who is very articulate. I love these lovey doveys!

Three of my loves. My phamily is growing so quickly I wish my folks would be able to have seen these precious little ones.
Scrunchy face Harrison fell asleep in momma's arms. Oh how he fights sleep. He is his father's son! We were at Jeremy and Brittany's last night celebrating Jeremy's birthday which is actually on August 9th.
HaHaHa! That bird is clueless as to the thoughts of the devious cat. Talented but clueless. Stop by Sandee's and visit all the fun shares for Aw...Monday!

This pinterest image shows Lake Bled in Slovenia the place where my ancestors started it all. Isn't it lovely? I thought Jeanne and the Blue Monday crew might like this pretty blue picture along with this fun vintage blue photo and awesome DIY project for those crafty gals from Pinterest too:

I love my heritage, I love my phamily and I love these cool DIY projects using old mirrors, dishes and trays to create frames. Amazing and so creative.
I can not leave you without a Love is... and one more blue. My hubby loves windmills and I have often tried to get a good photo shot while he driving particularly in the state of Kansas where we will be two weeks from today returning Nick back to class for the final time as a Kansas Wesleyan Coyote. I found this image to share here and my hubby loves it:
Before I sign off and pray that this blog will still be here tomorrow here is my final share for today:
Oh Maxine, you are one clever lady not to mention comical.
Sweet dreams.

Day Three: Weddings and Phamily Love

Technical issues stopping me from working on my day three post! Although it is day four, here it is:
August 27, 2000. Noelle and her dad heading down the aisle and into her marriage with Roger. Ah....such a lovely memory.

May 3, 1984 - my Sweets and I on our wedding day. The days go so quickly but I will always hold that day close to my heart.
The Robinson Clan, April 30, 2016, Jeremy's wedding to Brittany. Oh the new memories we have stored inside our hearts.
Pat and Gary's wedding day, August 19, 1956. Look at all those beautiful and handsome BoJon's surrounding the happy couple. To this day, although I was a tiny toddler when my big sis married, I can not visit my hometown of Pueblo without smiling when we pass the Mineral Palace Park on our way into town. Jay Phillips was a very harried professional photographer but his shots were beautiful and he captured every single moment for the happy day.

August 29, 1936. My mother was a beautiful bride and my daddy always looked so dapper and very handsome. They would have celebrated 49 years of marriage when he passed away in April 1985. They were the glue that held us all together.
Uncle Louie and Auntie Ang's wedding in October 1946. I need to find the exact date of their marriage. She was a beautiful and very modern bride. My grandmother was on your right and when I was a kid I thought the priest, Daniel Gnidica was personally related to Jesus because he was a carpenter like Jesus's earthly father Joseph. I guess he is related to Jesus but as a kid, you can understand my thought process.
It is fun to look back on these precious memories and be grateful to God for making me a BoJon girl. I hope you will come back later for more shares on Day Four.

Day Two: Kindness, Love and Weddings

This google image is dried chamomille flowers. My mother made us tea from these dry leaves and flowers when I was a kid. The tea was very bright yellow and because she grew her flowers without the help of any chemical additives and sprays back then we always enjoyed a delicious cup of hot tea. Our neighbor, Mrs. Theresa Plute, a little lady from the former Yugoslavia, taught my mom this method of tea making.  She was a sweet little widow lady who lived in the corner house of our street.  She had been married very young, at 15 to her husband who was about 12 years older than she was. She had two daughters and one of her daughters, Rosemarie, had three sons. I went to school with John who was the middle son. I still see and also talk to many of the kids I grew up with. It is was wonderful era.
Rebekah and her friend Naomi. These gals have been friends since they were youngsters. Naomi married her sweetheart Ryan on July 30, 2016. Rebekah and Zach attended the wedding.

This tiny girl caught the bridal bouquet. She said another taller and more athletic girl tried to overreach her but this little miss prevailed. Her beau Zach caught the garter at Jeremy and Brittany's wedding April 30, 2016. Hmmmm........

Ah...The Beatles sang about love. In fact they sang Love is all you need.....

Weddings are a wonderful time to reconnect with those you do not see as often as you once did. Growing up in BoJontown we attended lots of weddings. Most of them were at St. Joe's Hall in "the Grove". In fact, later this month our oldest daughter Noelle celebrates 16 years of wedded bliss with Roger and they were married at St. Joe's Hall.
I am still excited about these Naomi and Ryan wedding photos. Naomi was a beautiful bride and Rebekah and Zach were happy to share in their special day.n Weddings today are different from those from years gone by. Often the wedding ceremony was early in the morning and there was a wedding breakfast. By the time the photographer took all the photos of the wedding party it was time for a wedding lunch/dinner. There would be dancing and merriment until at least midnight.Tomorrow I will showcase some of the brides from my phamily.

Day One: A BoJon Heritage with An Irishman and Other Fun

Sláinte is the basic form in Irish Gaelic. Variations of this toast includesláinte mhaith "good health" in Irish (mhaith being the lenited form of maith "good"). The basic Scottish Gaelic equivalent is slàinte (mhath) (same meaning) to which the normal response is do dheagh shlàinte "your good health".

When you are 100 percent pure sLOVEnian a/k/a BoJon and you marry an Irishman things can get interesting! I did 31 days of My BoJon Heritage last July 2015 and decided to rekindle that experience and try to post each day here at my blog. With all the sadness in our world today and the political hatefulness surrounding the candidates and the social media sites I am steering clear of all of that for honoring my heritage here. It is not fair that I should share my heritage and not my honey's. Now his mother was a Heinz 57 mix of this and that and the other and because I was so close to my late father-in-law and he always loved and supported me, I decided to go with his heritage. I  R I S H! One hundred percent pure. The people who lived through the Irish Potato Famine. The people who came to America to be shunned and slighted like the Jews and other ethnic groups. My father-in-law was a storyteller and he could spin a yard with the best of the storytellers. He grew up in Arkansas. Until the day he died he would say, in his best Arkansas drawl, "Let me tell you, Euell Gibbons use to do commericals for Post Bran cereal and he would say, tastes like wild hickory nuts!" Grandpa Carl as he was fondly known to our  children, would say "Ole Euell Gibbons was a darned liar, wild hickory nuts taste like dirt!"
My hubby loves this candid shot of his late dad. Look at that green grass. He worked three and four jobs at a time and went to school so he could support his phamily. He never complained. He grew up as an orphan. He was the middle child of three youngsters who lost their parents when Carl was three, his older sister Hazel was five and their little brother Allen was one. Raised by their grandparents who lived in Kansas until they passed away they were taken in by a mean ole aunt who wanted only the government monies provided for taking in such relatives. His life with her was so awful he ran away at age 14 and joined the U S Navy, lying about his age to join! By the time he was 20 years old he had been in 5 out of seven seas, and nearly all the continents. He did not wish to travel after his Naval service ended. He felt he had seen enough of the world.

This photo of Carl Thomas Robinson in his days at the Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation. My hubby is so blessed, he has his father's brass check and other wonderful memories of his dad. This man was a godly person, who ran his bible and knew and trusted Jesus Christ. He was double jointed so he did this little thing with his knuckles on the living room floor and my kids would go wild with delight! Once when Rebekah was quite small she came home and said I want to sing you a song my grandpa Carl taught me. She belted out these words: If the ocean were whiskey, and I was a duck, I would swim to the bottom and drink it all up! (Hiccup Hiccup)! As you can imagine, I am sure this was an old Navy song they sang aboard the submarine he worked on.
Avery Allen Robinson was the father of our dear Carl Robinson. He passed away from complications of diabetes when he was 32 years old. The genes are striking and they are shared with my husband and youngest son Nick.
Avery A Robinson and Ivy Murphy were both very young when they passed away. Ivy was a school teacher. This is the only photo we have of them together.
Our heritage is so important in our lives, even if you just want to know the medical history that can be helpful to you later on, your heritage is an important part of your life.
I love this cat's message. He is a strikingly handsome feline and I love the way his paw is turned upward. I have a friend who is a Trekkie and you would never know it. Silly girl.
Stop by Sandee's and say Aw...Monday.
9/6/2015 - a sky shoy. Love the blue in the skies.
Blue water and blue skies.  This was taken at Margaret Carpenter Open Spaces. Visit Jeanne  and share some blue for Blue Monday.
We don't have a motorcycle but my son-in-law has a big Harley. It is a fun way to enjoy the sights. But the traffic is overwhelming an you really have to pray hard and be careful.
Maxine always has a bit of fun to throw our way. Like Maxine, I love apple pie too. But you have to watch that extra crust!
I'll be back tomorrow to continue my new 31 days of my heritage. I am just wondering how August came around so quickly?
