Happy Tuesday

Oh Maxine, I feel exactly this way!  Maxine makes me happy and I hope she does that for you too. SO here are a few favorite Maxine comics for Happy Tuesday

I would be up all night if I drank coffee all night too! I remember Joe DiMaggio doing the Mr. Coffee commercials years ago.  He was a fsvorite ballplayer I knew because of my dad and his love of the sport.

I think Maxine, we all were.  HaHaHa!

Oh Maxine you are so terribly ornery!

Thinking about Angela and Tuesday Show and Tails. Maxine's little dog looks like he would fit right in. He looks stunned here, Maxine giving him the TV remote lecture!

Aw...Mondays and More

It appears that each time I try to sign on to one blog or the other I am forced to create a new password. I am hopeful this will eventually stop. The nonsense is real in 2020 but I have something bigger on my side so I will persevere and carry on.

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the loss of my mom. It is also the day her own mother, my precious BFF was born. I miss them both so very much. I am so grateful they are not here on this earth to experience the pain and suffering that is coming to the USA. I am grateful they are tucked away safely in the arms of Jesus forever.

Mom and me in 1974. She was always so pretty and she had a heart for God. She would be so sad to see what happened to the phamily and now division has come between so many of us. Her faith was first and foremost and she would tell me, simply to pray harder. I miss all my conversations with her. She always knew exactly what to say and she was never harsh, disrespectful or hateful. My father did not allow disrespect to our mom in our home. She was the glue that kept us all together. Dad was a steelworker and he earned a nice salary but he worked long hours. Mom took care of us. My dad treated my mom like a beautiful flower. He loved her so very much and she loved him. She always wanted to go join him. 19 years ago today God sent her to her heavenly home with dad and all the faithful phamily that went before them.

I have this verse up front in my life because I know what is coming and my dad and my late father-in-law always told us, they felt we would live to see the destruction of America. As sad as it is, I am glad it is us and not them living through this. The signs are everywhere.  God is all there is going to be to turn to. No man or woman or anything in this life will save your soul. I am so glad I learned all this and never turned away when my parents and in-laws spoke of these things. We were raised with respect. Something very sadly lacking in our world today.

Mom was such a beauty. She lived through some difficult times, the loss of her own dad when she was just 13.  The great depression, the loss of all her siblings before her. The loss of my dad  Somehow their faith kept them on the right path. Mom was fun and when she passed away all my cousins told me she gave them their first taste of beer. She made sure no one got into trouble an she loved her phamily passionately.

My grandma at her home in the Grove. I sat on that very stoop and ate soup and bread ith passing hobos. The Arkansas river ran behind grandma's house and the hobo's coming off the trains would stop for a meal. She never denied them anything she had. She only that they respected us and we respected them. Different times but memories that still make me smile. She went through more loss then most of us could even imagine. She traveled alone from Eastern Europe and met and married my grandpa. She suffered so much loss including her own eyesight. She never lost her faith in God and I Learned so much from her. I have tried to be a grandma like her because without Jesus you will have no hope. I can not imagine how she lost three of her children in the blink of an eye and yet somehow she managed to go on. Women back her day were strong willed and they took charge. They never expected anyone to give them a handout. She took in boarders and fed hobos. She finished raising her children and never turned away from God. He was her stronghold. She often told me without God you have nothing.

My sweet little best friend forever. I never forget her, she lives on in my heart and always will. Happy Birthday in Heaven my precious grandmother. I love you so very much.

Please visit Aw...Mondays I am heading over to get a haircut and then off to my derm appointment to meet the new doctor. The scheduling gal said I will love her. I could use some prayer. It is always a tough appointment getting the full body mole scan.  I also apologize for the mess blogger has created with Microsoft Edge and goggle too. Somehow, someday I will fix it all. God BLess each one of youwho stops by.

This would be Mister Kitty if his food was not presented to him at exactly dinnertime and again at breakfast. Visit Feline Friday and share your feline today.

I feel this feline's pain, I have been locked out of  blogger yesterday and today. Today I am able to get into my blogs but I can not have them both open at the same time. It is extremely frustrating and it all started with this horrible Microsoft Edge app they are trying to dump on my laptop. I opened my computer and it was there staring at me! I prefer chrome or google or anything. To think Bill Gates will save the world with his vaccination is scary, creepy and unbelievable that people would trust someone without any medical background. When I worked with real doctors who attended real medical schools, they would say it was a felony to practice medicine without a license. I do not trust anyone who had money wrapped up at the Wuhan Lab in China where this virus originated. As for the blog, I was lucky to have had my Phamily Blog post ready to send so that was ok. But I could not post at My Tata's Cottage and that hurt my heart because I was doing my grateful and thankful posts. I know I sound negative about this but I think we should be able to use what we want. I have a friend who still has her first cell phone, a flip phone. So does her husband because they do not believe in buying these expensive phones and throwing their hard earned money away. Karen does not go on line because she said after 40 plus years of working, she had had enough of that nonsense.

This fun blog hop is hosted by two lovely ladies Lorianne and Ellen . Here are the questions:

Happy Thursday Hodge Podge TBT

The cat often has this look at our house!  Stop by Happy Thursday and join the fun.

It's true and you know it is!

TBT 1988 with Rebekah and Pastor Pettit at her baptism. What a wonderful person this gentleman was. He was a very dear friend to my hubby. We think about him often. He was the ultimate kind person. Martha has been busy tracking storms and you know, everyday life issues, so she has not brought back TBT but since I use to do it at social media, before all the politics ruined 2020, I love sorting through all the old photos and posting my kids and other loved ones.

1. It's the 11th day of the 11th month and bloggers often makes lists on days like today. Let's go with a list of 11 things you're grateful for today.

Being relatively healthy, having a great phamily, enjoying the weather even though it has been colder than I like it, drinking hot tea when the weather is cold, enjoying conversations with friends, enjoying a few good TV Programs, making waffles from scratch, enjoying baking this time of year, watching CHRISTmas movies, getting my household organized, downsizing lots of things we set aside and never use. Grateful!

2. What's something you decided to do or act on in the 11th hour?

Definitely blogging! I Love it, it is something I thoroughly enjoy,  but the days get away from me. I am normally not a late comer but lately I wait until the last minute to put all my thoughts together. But when I have the opportunity to see the grandbabies or catch a lunch date with the grandson and his babies, it is too hard to resist. I am a planner but I can roll with it to! I guess having five kids helped me not focus on perfection. I think too often, it is highly overated.

3. Apparently, the Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe has 11 herbs and spices.  What's a dish you make that calls for exactly 11 ingredients?

This is a tough one for me. I Make lots of dishes that require 5 or 6 ingredients. The closest I cam get to 11 is between 10 to 15 lol ! The first one is  Chicken Tortilla Soup:  (15 ingredients) Sauté a medium onion, finely chopped with 3 garlic chopped garlic cloves in a tbsp. of olive oil and add a diced and seeded jalapeno pepper. Add a tsp. of ground cumin and a tsp. of chili powder. Add a 14 oz. can of crushed tomatoes and a 16 oz. can f diced tomatoes with chilies, like Rotel. (I Like the original, the hubby loves the HOT). 3 cups of chicken broth, a can of black beans, rinsed and drained, a can of whole kernel corn, also rinsed and drained.  ( I love the Mexi-Corn ). 2 chicken breasts (which I Like to toss in the crock pot then chop or shred before serving.) 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro, 1 lime, juiced and one avocado, sliced. I basically toss it all in the crock pot and cook it on low for at least 8 hours. When serving it you can add tortilla strip chips and sour cream.

My other recipe is Grandma Hazel's Hearty Cowboy Soup: 10 ingredients: 2 lbs. lean ground beef,  Brown and drain the meat and cut up 3 Yukon Gold potatoes, in small cubes,  Add to crock pot with 2 28 oz. cans mixed veggies, 1 can sweet corn, undrained, 1 can condensed tomato soup, 1 can petite diced tomatoes, 1 can cut green beans, A pinch of salt and a dash of pepper and 2 tablesppons of sugar (trust me this makes the recipe :-)).  The sugar makes the recipe  in a class of it's own soup.  Mix well and Cook 3-4 hours.

4. Something you remember about your 11 year old self.

Having attended Catholic school from k to 11 the parochial school was k to 8. High school was 9-12. It was the year I lost my BFF Grandmother. I was blessed with many good friends, still keep in touch with many to this day, so the pain was eased simply by their kindnesses and their presence. My grandmother remains in my heart always and I look forward to seeing again one day , on the other side.

5. The 11th of November is Veteran's Day in the USA. This is a day to honor those who served their country in war or peace - dead or alive  although according to the government's website, it's largely intended to thank living Veteran's for their sacrifices.

Memorial Day is when we honor military personnel who died in service for  their country.

Share a thought related to Veterans Day or tell us something about a Veteran you know-love-admire.

My list of heroes from Veterans Day is quite long. So I will speak about Donald Stratton. He served on the USS Arizona in WWII at Pearl Harbor. If you know history, you know the story. Mr. Stratton was one of the kindest men who a large heart of gold who was very proud of his military service and those he served with. Our middle met another Pearl Harbor survivor when she and her hubby visited while on their honeymoon in Hawaii. She bought the gentleman's book and read Mr. Stratton's book. She was fortunate because he lived in Colorado Springs so she sent her copy of his book to his son and Mr. Stratton signed it for her. His story is quite amazing and he is a real American hero. When he passed away in January of this year Rebekah and her husband and our daughter Noelle attended his memorial service.  All I can say is  we are losing these heroes every day and their stories need to be told and retold. If you value your freedom you will honor each and every one. If I wrote about each Veteran I knew personally, I would have to write a book. God bless all Veteran's living and gone who gave selflessly to insure our freedoms which are leaving us daily in our once fine country.

6. Insert your own random thoughts here.

Number 5 said all I needed to say in regard to the USA , our Veterans and our freedoms.

Happy Tuesday and More

Rose always had a serious catitude! But she was devoted to Nick and I think when he went away to school, she was mad and she took it out on me! She was a unique cat. Thinking back to the fifth grade, when Nick begged us to save her life, saying his friends was going to drown the kittens if they couldn't find homes! I think people like that, maybe someone should smack them around for a while and see if anything changes their hatefulness. Spay or neuter your pets people! Then you will never worry about unwanted pets. We are a throw away society, even for babies and animals. Don't want them, kill them! But in Rose's case, we took her in and Nick cared for her. Cleaning her litter, making sure she ate regular meals.  He was such a good friend to her. About five years ago she was diagnosed with kidney disease. She ate a special diet, she saw the vet and had blood work regularly. She never lost her spunk and let me tell you, the girl had spunk! She developed sinus issues and it seemed the vet just never could figure out what to do for her. She had to use children's nasal spray and boy she hated it but it helped give her some relief. Last year I woke up to a cat crying. I searched high and low and called for my hubby to help me as well as Nick. She had apparently hopped on the stove and fell between the fridge and stove. She could not climb out. It was so heartbreaking.  She just could not do what she use to do. The girl could open a box with those finicky little tabs and pull out a chicken dinner from Popeye's without you ever knowing what she was up to. She must have hidden her chicken around the house and we never found any evidence. She left the mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuit and honey behind! She never ate a chicken bone, she was smarter then most people! She would not eat cat food flavored with tuna or other fish only chicken. She was a pollotarian, strictly chicken only. I suppose I could write her story all day, every day but I will close here. She went to the Rainbow Bridge last year, November 10, 2019. She is missed today and Nick has all of her belongings. She was a one of a kind  feline. Missing you Rose.

Please visit Happy Tuesday and I am just reminiscing about Tuesday Show and Tails with Angela.

Aw...Mondays and More

Aw...Mondays A little police canine humor to help you keep smiling.

Love is...knows I cherish these days.

HaHaHa! Isn'tthis one the truth today?
