Today we have snow and rain, yesterday was a beautiful Spring day for a hike! Look at this fence. It looks like too many decided to rest on the posts! My middle daughter Rebekah took me to Chautauqua Park yesterday for a hike. It is located in the city of Boulder, Colorado. I will share my photos here and hope you will stop by TexWisGirl and share your Good Fences too.
The hike covered about 0.7 miles of trail for the easiest climb. After twenty minutes of burning lungs and jelly like legs, I regained my stamina and continued the trail with Rebekah. The high altitude (5430) takes a few minutes to adjust to even if you have lived here your entire life like I have! A simple view of the city of Boulder. It was a bit overcast and than the sun came shining through.
Those of you who know me also know our youngest son Nick is a college runner. He has been running since he was in the fifth grade and today he is a college junior. He is my inspiration to run, walk and hike! These words are from my pinterest board on Running. I am not a quitter so getting through that first twenty minutes of climbing the trail were tough. But I was victorious and glad I did it! You may stop by Ms. Jenny's and share a favorite "V" post too!
Another pinterest share, but climbing that trail which was rocky at some points was easier as we progressed up the hill! I thought about this when I was struggling, should I give up? Never! It's a hill, get over it!
From the bottom of the trail it appears that it is only a winding, somewhat rocky trail. But the climb is what makes you want to succeed. Yesterday was a glorious day.
There is nothing like looking up to see magnificent views of the top of those trails! There are several for easy, moderate and difficult climbs. People of all ages are busily climbing those trails.
Rebekah enjoyed hiking with me and we had fun as well as some lighthearted moments. See the fence behind her?
I loved the feeling I had climbing that trail. The views are beautiful and it is good for your heart!
We saw this tree lying down on the side of our trail. Often lightening strikes and can split a tree. Other times bug infestations destroy them .
Look at these rock formations that dot the scenery up there. They are just gorgeous to look at.
We saw a lot of cactus on this trail. The natural setting is beautiful in its own way.
This spider web was so eery. Those wormy black critters were creepy, reminded me of Halloween. I am usually in awe of a spider's web. It is magnificently engineered and I beleieve God is behind the making of such an intelligent creature.
A guide of the trails and the choices you can make up there.
There is an area where people stop to create your own rock images. Some of them look like images of people. We enjoyed surveying them.
Lots of creative rock people.
My rock art was very simple.
Rebekah is a bit more artistic than I am.
She enjoyed finding flat rocks to add to her creation.
We saw this gentleman with several dogs near the rest area. He had two beautiful standard poodles off the leash as well as a golden retriever and another dog who looked sweet but possibly a mixed breed.
As we descended the trail we took a hiking selfie!
There are beautiful homes on the bottom of the trail and I am sure they are quite expensive to live in. These red and gold tulips are probably sad today after the snowfall. I thought the Pinkies at Beverly's Pink Saturday would enjoy seeing them as well as these beautiful pink trees:
I hope you will visit Theresa, Jenny and Beverly and if you participate please stop by and leave comments. I must admit, the people at Theresa's meme are super and they visit everyone and leave comments! I think it is a nice courtesy to extend too all the bloggers and not just a handful of favorite friends!

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.

such beautiful views! i can feel the fresh air in your lungs as you climbed. :) laughed at the 'get over it' and 'real workout' messages. so true.
Gorgeous views! Good for you, hanging in there. I can't handle altitude at all, so I miss out on such lovely experiences as this.
I think those were tent caterpillars and not a spider web. They have always creeped me out. What a beautiful place to hike otherwise--LOL! Love the rocks.
Looks like a great hike with magnificnet views and great rocks
Beautiful pics -- Colorado is the best place to hike or just to look at the views! Wish I'd never left.
I love the rock art!
Just another reminder to get out and explore where we live more. Sometimes you think back on how long you've lived places and wonder why you never took the time to explore more. Love all your fabulous pictures!!!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Glad you enjoyed your hike. Beautiful scenery always helps. Thanks for taking us along.

Looks like a marvelous place to walk!
I remember a long time ago, walking in Colorado near Durango and thinking "Oh my, I can't breathe!"
Wow, what a place for a hike...I came for the fence, and I do like it. But I really love the views, too.
Beautiful pictures...I love the rock people ;-)

Thank you for stopping by to visit at my place. A great challenge to hike and it sure looks like you passed the test. Interesting rock people...how neat. Enjoyed getting to see the scenery, including the fence. Will be stopping by again..
So glad you visited my part of the world and equally I truly enjoyed sharing your workout in a very amazing part of the world! The rock people were fun!

Way to go on making the hike. The views were fabulous. I enjoyed seeing all your photos of the journey as well.
I love it when you can get a workout while enjoying a beautiful place.
definitely a victory!
Thank you for visiting me down here in south Texas. I have never been to your state but I've always thought it would be beautiful. Yes that first fence is a little worse for the wear but maybe someone will come along to repair it.
I enjoy the feeling of getting up a hill, especially when I'm out of shape yet again. Thanks for sharing your photos of a beautiful place.
Yes, a nice slugar to walk, I like these pictures!
Climbing the hills, breathtaking, but, it was fantastic for you. I love it.
You can feel wonderful that you completed the hike.. Well done! The scenic views, flowers and the fence shots are awesome. It is a beautiful place for a hike.. Thanks for sharing your day! Have a happy weekend!

I've read about that 'rock sculpture' area before...how interesting, and no doubt a fun activity!!!
Beautiful scenes, and yes...the hiking is good for the heart.
Bravo to you and your family ~ Victory!
Great post and photos ~ love the rock people and the dogs, of course ~
Happy Weekend to you,

What a beautiful hike! I think the scenery would keep me going. Thanks for sharing!!
Sounds like you and your daughter had a fabulously wonderful day hiking. I love the photos. I've never been to Colorado, but friends and family who have tell me how beautiful it is. Your photos reinforce this.
It's good that you can still do the walking. I used to love walking and would walk for miles. Now I rely on my car to get me around.
Some days, though, I do get to walk for a bit and it feels oh so good. It all depends on how the body is feeling. I especially love those days when I can walk around a flea market or a field of flowers or by the pond at our park. So much to be thankful for.
Well, Pogo is looking for his lunch, so I must go see if I can find something tasty for him. You have a super day. Hugs, Edna B.
What a beautiful place!
good on you! I'm super glad we've met!

Hi Anne, Thank you so much for your sweet comment about the sweatshirt sweater my cousin made me. It is a forever memory of the cousin love we had for each other.
I am visiting for two posts today. I do love the Derby hats pics. so much. I would love to go one day.
The hiking pics are wonderful. Our family has hiked for years. It is a satisfying experience for sure. We live in the mountains and the trails are endless. Good for you for doing such a challenging hike and making it to the top. The rock people are so interesting. A kind of reward huh?
BTW, I too reheat my clothes in the dryer all of the time. I never seem to be available when it is finished. It is better than folding them cold.
Blessings to you and yours. You are a family I admire so much. Helping a veteran is such a loving and kind thing to do. You are much like me. In a pinch we will always find room for more.
Hugs,
Jeanne
Yes, very funny, beautiful stone works! Thank you very much!
I love seeing other parts of the world even if its just a hiking trial.....thereare subtle differences in terrain and plant life...things we all take for granted but can be so amazing to someone from another country. HPS Michelle (Australia)
Rustic fence. Thanks for sharing.
A widely varied post that I like very much. Fine work.
A beautiful series of photos. Good for you for making that hike. The gorgeous scenery all around would motivate me. Happy weekend.
Sounds like you had a great day. That is a beautiful area!
Thirst pictures are evidence of a wonderful hike. Mrs. Jim and I climbed a fence and she tripped and broke her hip so bad that she needed a hip transplant. Bummer end to a good day. She is pretty well recovered now.
Be careful.
..
Thanks for coming over and leaving a lovely comment on my post. I've enjoyed taking a hike with you and Rebekah.
Diana
Wow you are lucky to walk there.it is much more fun to look at something.

Hi, What an interesting series of photos from your hike up into the mountains. I almost feel like I went along ... just wish I could get the exercise to go with. :-) I am kind of surprised to see the cactus up there. And that spider web ... my goodness it looks full of creatures. So interesting the way the rocks are piled up. Congrats on a great hike and thank you for sharing it!

Hi this is my first encounter with your blog . I have been following alphabet Thursday for a long time but only once managed to complete the whole 26 letters
I have been away from blogging for a while but now trying to catch up and keep up see you again
It looks beautiful the part of the world you shared
Looks like a great day for a hike and beautiful area, have a great week!
I may have said it before, but I think it's so neat how you and your children (well, grown children, that is!) enjoy one another's company.
Sure didn't realize y'all were so close to Boulder. My very first boyfriend now lives there and works for the Boulder P.D. - we only keep in touch on birthdays and Christmas, but it's kind of neat to see what the community looks like!
PS - My thighs are aching, just imagining your trek!
Liked your photos and your literature. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful Place to live.
