Memories of My Mother

Happy Birthday to my Dear Sweet Mom in her heavenly home. You have been gone from this earth since 2001. Not one day goes by that I do not remember you. All the good things I know in life I learned from you and dad. I was very blessed to have you as long as I did. Someday we will meet across the streets of heaven. Love you and miss you mom.
August 29th 1936
Beautiful attendant for the wedding of dad's sister Angela "Gela" to Uncle Bear. My cousin Jeannie says she likes to think this dress my mother wore was a lovely shade of lilac.
Stopping by Pink Saturday to say hello.

Pink ,Prayers and Birthday Fun

I think most American's today could use a good dose of this! So much going on in our world in general, and everyone wants their opinion, their cause, their voice to be heard. We never know what others are dealing with that we pass on the street, get angry with in our cars, so we all could use a good dose of humility, kindness and most of all love,

I bet most of you stopping here know Nana Diana. Her blog NanaDiana is filled with personal stories of her phamily and much love to her readers. One of her beautiful grand daughters is very ill, hospitalized and undergoing surgery and possibly more surgery Monday to find the reason for her pain. If you are a pray warrior please pray. stop by and visit her blog. Her phamily has been bombarded with illnesses, tragedy and so much sadness yet Diana always looks for the goodness in others. She is funny, kind, faithful. Please stop by and and hear her stories. Most of all, pray for Sweet Cheeks.
Humor is my favorite way to bring joy. when I was young I bough tons of cheap shoes. Today, I am not so young and buy only good shoes. But I seem to find room for one more pair.
Birthdays remind me God has granted me another day to use wisely. February is loaded with phamily birthday fun. Harrison turns 3, Brody 1 and Brody's mom Brittany is a February birthday girl along with her dad and two of her brothers. Whew! Lots of Celebrating. Our puppies turn 1 this month too. I have a sister-in-law, Joyce who is a February birthday girl.  My niece Kate's youngest will also turn 1. February is going to be filled with lots of laughter, gifts, cake and fun. Happy Birthday to all the February birthday boys and girls out there.
Cousins, sharing a bowl of Fruit Loops. How did these two get so big? They were babies just yesterday. This photo was taken over a 1 1/2 ago.
Brotherly Love. Big Brother, Baby Brother. How I love these  all these boys.

Some people who live in my house buy plants and kill them. I always had the very best luck with philodendron plants. I am trying my luck with a CHRISTmas Cactus. Wish me good planting! I had a friend who once trained an Ivy to grow up and around her high ceiling living room and draped down on either side. That is patience and some plant talent. But Maxine looks at dead plants in a different light.
More humor:

Humor: Makes a difficult day or week a little less stressful.
Think about this, in a humorous light.
Walt Disney was a brilliant man. I wonder what he would think about the way his dream unfolded into a billion dollar empire.
Snoopy always makes me feel happy.

Pink clouds. They remind me of childhood and pink cotton candy. That was a sugary sweet treat you were happy to get at carnivals and fairs and church bazaars .  This google image made me smile. I haven't stopped by Beverly's in a long while. Just wanted to stay in the pink and enjoy some fun. Enjoy the weekend.

HELLO JUNE

The month of May was tough for me this year. I was sick with a viral illness and it lingered too long. I am grateful to see a new month here. I thought Beverly would enjoy seeing some pink goodness splashed around my blog today for Pink Saturday. I have missed all the Pinkies who participate.
This is a beautiful Maui sunset. I am happy for our newlyweds. They are taking a long awaited honeymoon to Hawaii and they leave early tomorrow A,M, Although they are visiting a different island, I am anxious to see all their photo shares.
Because I like to stay positive, I am sharing a grateful quote. If you look carefully you will always find something to be grateful for. Today, I was grateful the hubby had ten minutes to sit with me on our patio swing and enjoy the sun rising while we sipped some morning coffee.
The sun was making an appearance. I love my clothesline and am grateful to have it here. I Also love the old shed my neighbpor Kristy has in her yard. We had some brutal winds a few months ago and she lost her greenhouse. I love old things so this makes my heart grateful that I have good neighbors.

Scripture to compliment each day.
I am going to try to complete the alphabet this month. I like finding interesting things to share here. I like to honor Jenny Matlock who use to host Alphabe Thursday each week. I have not heard from Jenny in ages. Anyone else hear from her? I know she struggled with health issues and chronic pain no one seemed to be able to properly diagnosis.  She was an amazing friend and I miss seeing her and many other bloggers here. So here is to Jenny and I hope something good will come to her health wise.
Let's go with "attitude". Depending on your attitude you could have a terrific day or a rotten one! I really try to have a great attitude. Often I see elderly folks who are down right mean and I don't want to be like that. I have lots of aches and pains. when one pain stops throbbing another starts but I don't feel like I should take it out on others, especially small children, babies and their loved ones with them in public places.
This is a total "bad attitude."
This is a seriously great attitude! It's called, I cried, my dad picked me up! I have his number hee hee hee!
Summertime is baseball time and I hardly like to do anything else.
America is so divided. The ahtred is boiling in the veins of so many people. We need to come together. I am so happy blogging. Social Media is wicked to it's core. Glad to be here. Have a beautiful weekend.

Pink Saturday/My BoJon Heritage/Happy Easter/

Happy Pink Saturday to everyone! Please stop by to visit Beverly and all the Pinkies too. Make sure to check out the giveaway at A Simple cottage Life. The button is on my sidebar and the giveway photo belongs to the delightful owner of the blog who is giving away the wonderful items pictured there.

This beautiful photo is a confirmation photo and these two kids were my mom's cousins. Their last name was Krall but I am not sure which two kids they are. I wish they wrote names and dates on more of these old photos. I love their dressy clothes. Being confirmed is still an important part of Catholic  church life.

Look at this array of beautifully painted Easter eggs. You know for Christians  eggs stand for new life and zegec is blessing of the baskets of food.  Velika noc means Great Night. In  sLOVEnia Easter is celebrated with lots of good food including krofi pictured here:

My mom made krofi every holiday and they were so good, I liked to slice one in half and add a piece of ham. Oh my those memories were on my mind.
I am glad no bunnies were found in our Easter ham!   I am very proud of my BoJon heritage and I am going to find a way so that I can recreate those traditional foods. Living in the high altitude is tricky when baking and especially when baking items that are filled with yeast. My mom baked the lightest loaves of bread but could not create a pie crust for anything! I can not make a pie crust from scratch but if you give me a bread maker I can make a tasty loaf of bread.

Vesele Velokonocne Praznike and in English: Happy Easter! I wish I knew the language my folks were fluent in. But their parents came from Slovenia which formerly were known as Yugoslavia. They were very proud of their heritage.

Maxine on Pink Saturday

I thought Beverly and the Pinkies would like this snappy pink car that Maxine complains makes her car sick when the car payment is due!
As much as I love watching birds and enjoying their different colorful feathers and head dress I agree with Maxine, they have a knack for finding your car once you wash it and it is sparkling and shiny. So does the snow and rain! It is one of those things in life that never fails.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend and I hope Maxine made you smile.

Warm Heart Wednesday/ Pink Saturday/ Aw... Monday/

The 98 foot tall Christ the Redeemer stands in the heart of Rio de Janiero. It was sculpted by a French sculptor and is made out of soapstone. My daughter Noelle's friend Ben spent New Years in Rio de Janiero. I asked Noelle to see if he could get get a picture for me. I was amazed, he spent the day there and the scenery was beautiful. I am so happy I have this picture and it truly warmed my heart. He had other beautiful photos from their walk to the top. Amazing and breathtaking. Have you been to Rio de Janiero? Stop by Jenny's

My son-in-law Roger is always a fun guy to snap a photo with! We were visiting my niece Kate and nephew Troy as they celebrated their graduations from nursing school and high school this past June 2015. Always a great day with phamily. I even wore pink to celebrate Beverly and all the Pinkies!
Here is a google image from Fashion OS.com in pink! A lovely mother of the bride and/or groom dress. Brittany's mom Bobbie and I will be sporting navy dresses so we color coordinate with out handsome hubby's! The wedding for Jeremy and his blushing bride will be April 30th. We are all getting so excited. If they have this dress in navy it might just be a winner.
X Dresses has this pretty tea length pink mother's dress for the wedding day. I am going to be shopping with the girls soon so I will keep you posted.
Here is a cutie to share with you. This is Miss Daphne or "Tiny" as Zach and Rebekah call her. She is a precious Calico cat that Zach's twin sister found behind a dumpster in a cardboard box. She is about one and she is very wary of people. You can not blame this pretty lil lady, her tail was broken in four places. Who could harm this sweet girl? Miss Daphne and Mr. Kitty have not enjoyed the company of each other so we are working hard on that and that is why you aren't seeing me here so much this past week. I know I missed Sandee and all the fun at Aw...Monday but I still had to share this sweet feline. Sandee's friend  Steve shares Feline Friday so I will add  that meme next week too.

This cute teapot with "Cats with Attitude: was a google image provided by polyvore.com and I had one last pink to share with the Pinkies today. Have a great weekend and visit some other bloggers today.

Warm Heart Wednesday and Pink Saturday

When I was a small child, I loved dolls and I grew up to love them even more! These two Revlon dolls were gifts from my older brother. One was a redhead the other a blonde and I had to share them with my big sister Mary. Check out those snappy white socks! My mom had a cousin, Rose Levstik Ballas, and she worked for the Girls Department at the Crews Beggs department store. We were always dressed in style.
My friend Lorna won this Christmas doll at a tea a few years ago and she had no where to put her and she knew how much I loved dolls so she gave her to  me! That was a kind gesture. It warmed my heart than and still does today.
Lorna also gave me this cute Autumn Fairie doll. She is so cute and I am happy to have her. Lorna warmed my heart giving these dolls to me. Stop by Jenny's and visit more warm heart Wednesday folks.
I thought I would add some pink today.

My pink and black flip flops are often too cold to wear this time of year with the deep freeze we are sitting in so Rebekah was my Secret Santa and she gave me a couple pairs of warm socks for around the house. Do you like the pink and white with my blue jammies?

My artic backyard. It is so cold here. Brrrr........Please visit Beverly and all the pinkies soon.

Pink Saturday Post/Blue Monday Post/Aw...Monday Post/Love is../

I love Barbie. When I was in the second grade and my sister was in sixth grade, she had her tonsils out and my mother bought her the most beautiful Barbie doll. I was so jealous and it was another year before I got my very own Barbie doll. I have loved her ever since. For my birthday On Thursday my hubby bought this beautiful Barbie cake for me. The decorator at our local Albertsons store decorated this from an image I found. It was a wonderful cake. Please visit Beverly and all the Pinkies too. I had a delightful birthday with gifts and a movie, dinner and we even got our flu shots. I had a wonderful conversation with my doctor about the ways of the world and his children. Always a pleasure to see him and since I lost my job he has really been extra nice to me.

The sky was still blue while the darkness set in. Rebekah's little blue car is sitting in front of the house . We put a red and green light on our walkway . Hopefully my hubby will feel better and we can get some lights up on the front of the house.

This is Jeremy's driveway with lights on his garage and one of those Shooting Star projectors. So pretty but they are a hot item and hard to find. My relatives in Ohio had their's stolen off their front lawn. Christmas Grinch somewhere in their neighborhood.

Jeremy's yard has some characters hanging around. The snowman has on a blue sweater. I hope Sally likes these blues today.

It is hard to get a good shot of the Star Shooter projector.

We have been working on our house and getting the tree decorated. I know you can see some blue ornaments there.
We are going to use Jeremy's old bedroom for an office so today we moved that computer and desk in there. Now we have more room in the living room area.

Stella loves to be with Jeremy. In fact, she and Smokey love to take a ride in the car. She is a loyal friend and loves to be in the company of Jeremy. She is a good girl and when I watch them during the week, she is quiet and spends the day passing the time napping on my bed. Now if I could just get the others to join her! I hope you visit Sandee and everyone who shares with Aw...Monday. Remember to leave a comment here today because tomorrow I am going to draw the winner of my pretty handcrafted ornament from my friend Cheri in Ohio.
We have not been sledding in quite some time but what a thrill, acting likes kids, We have had some cold and snowy weather and are expecting more snow showers this weekend. Life is like that in the Colorado high country, sitting at one mile high, we get our share of cold and snow in the winter time.

Thank you for the prayers for Ryan, the friend of my girls. He is doing much better and his family appreciated all the good thoughts and prayers headed their way. Have a good week and enjoy your Monday.
