I love these vintage kitchen appliances. Do you prefer pink or the turquoise?

This kitchen is something! I think I would change the paint and back

Day 6: Childrens Poetry by Eugene field (1850-1895): With Trumpet and Drum/My BoJon Heritage and Pink Saturday

With big tin trumpet and little red drum,
Marching like soldiers, the children come!
   It 's this way and that way they circle and file---
      My! but that music of theirs is fine!
   This way and that way, and after a while
      They march straight into this heart of mine!
A sturdy old heart, but it has to succumb
To the blare of that trumpet and beat of that drum!

Eugene Field 1850-1895 With Trumpet and Drum

Eugene Field was an American poet who wrote childhood poetry and humorous essays. He wrote the poem Wynken, Blynken and Nod. His father was an attorney who defended the slave Dred Scott who sued for his freedom.  This lawsuit is often referred to as the lawsuit that started the Civil War.

I love poetry and have been introducing some to Harrison when I watch him on Fridays. I am also listening to various types of music with him.  I love reading to him and he likes the Dr. Seuss books a lot!

Hey good looking cousins! Devin, Harrison and Jayden had a fun filled day today. Devin and Jayden saw the movie The Secret Life of Pets with us and their grammie and grandpa, Noelle and Roger. Harrison stopped by later on to have a visit with his folks.

Jayden is so silly! He loves his colorful cast. He has become so fearless he wanted to jump on the trampoline at Grammie Noelle's house. She told him no, he already has one fractured arm from a zipline! This boy starts kindergarten next week.

This google image of a pretty pink and white pillow made me smile. Premier Designs has a silver bracelet that has these same words engraved on it. I LOVE that simple bracelet.

I am going to be giving one of these bracelets away in a drawing I will have for everyone who purchases at least $75 in Premier Designs jewelry. It is a fun way to see the beautiful quality of their jewelry without a lot of hassle. I am easy peasy when it comes to sales and I love those people who call and want to give me an order without having to host their own show. W live in such busy times we often have too much on our plates to begin with. Cheryl who is my Avon lady gave me a nice order and she was not a big jewelry person. Because she surprised me with such a terrific order she surprised herself at the cool things she could wear and will now be an avid customer! I think Beverly and the Pinkies might like that pillow. Maybe some of them would like a pretty bracelet too. 

I've never been inside a pink church, have you? This pinterest find made me curious as to what else I could find in pink inside this walls. HPS to all! Have a great weekend.

Pink is Pretty

This is a pink and white house on Main Street in Lamar, Colorado.  I took this photo in July 2010 when we were traveling to  my mother-in-laws graveside service there, after her seven year battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.  I think this is a sweet little place. It made all of us smile. I would love to be able to peek inside. I love to see how homes are decorated on the inside.

This yellow rose is so pretty. I know it is not pink but because we have a gray and yellow bed cover I wanted to add a pretty yellow rose print on the gray walls we have.  Maybe I will find a pink rose print to match. What do you think?

We have been planting roses. So far we have five beautiful roses growing in our front and back yard. When we bought this house in 2010 there was an overgrown rose bush on the side of the backyard. I took a pair of garden clippers and cleaned up that rose bush. It started to produce the most beautiful dark pink roses, We recently cleaned it up again as it was bending close to the ground and really looking shabby. Today it is standing so tall and pretty. I dropped off a few encouragement cards at the post office this early A.M. and parked near this bright pink Hummer.

Katharine Lee Bates wrote this beautiful song while looking out at Pikes Peak. It is a favorite song of mine. As a child my parents home was built across the street from an open space and the view of Pikes Peak was magical. Warm Heart Wednesday and My BoJon Heritage with Direct Selling Companies/Pink Saturday

 Please visit Jenny and Warm Heart Wednesday. This was an easy one for me. I can tie this into My BoJon Heritage  This old memory from my old neighborhood as a child and our Catholic school always warms my heart.

Seventh Grade, Mrs. Martha Sandstrom. I am in the second row, the third girl on your right with the super short flippy do! I still see and/or talk to many of these kids to this very day. I will put up an old black white photo daily if I can get into my old habit and blog, blog, blog!

I was thinking about Direct selling companies, and those I have been with in the past and I decided for some reason to post each day something with each 26 letter of the Alphabet! I will challenge myself to get this down in the next 26 days! I will start tomorrow.

These lists are a small percentage of the thousands of direct selling companies you can join or simply view and purchase their products. Did you know that Avon is the number one direct selling company with over 11.3 billion dollars in sales in 2011 alone!

Oops, sideways! My friend Cindy Miller-Jones begged me to do House of Lloyd with her and together we did it until I moved to Denver in 1983. I started up with Linda, a mail carrier here but she and her hubby, also a postal employee were going through a horrible divorce and it lost the appeal. Harry Lloyd was an awesome man who  put his faith before his company and when he passed away his children ran the company into the ground, bankrupt and out of business. It was so  sad, they carried a line of very reasonably priced porcelain dolls. But many younger ones want what their parents had but they want it "right now"! I will always smile because Cindy shared this fun company with me.

After House of Lloyd I tried Avon. It was ok but I never made much money because I bought everything I tried to sell including their clothing! I will say this about Avon, I own many pieces of their costume type jewelry and I have pieces dating back to 1972 that are still as beautiful as ever.

Although this is an old kit, Princess House was a good extra money venture for me. I truly fell in love with their product and I had a good upline. Jonel White helped me achieve so much and she was always so helpful. Although she passed away unexpectedly in 2010, I will never forget her and the many friends I made through this company. I also made some decent money too.

I spent about a year with Beauticontrol but will always love the MaryKay products better. Beauticontrol was fun for a handful of people who supported me but I never made any lasting ties with the people in the business or the company.

I never became involved with this company but I do love the Scentsy products. Many years ago a co worker had a cousin in Texas who was selling this produce and I purchased a warmer and some melts. I have always loved their product but in order to get into this company they want you to go through your consultant and often there are too many pushy people doing businesses today and I don't have the time or energy to be hassled by some of the overly eager consultants. I think if you like a product you should be able to do it. I don't think they need to force you to be with people you aren't familiar with but that is just my thoughts. My consultant in Texas left the company so she could not be helpful to me.

Mary C. Crowley was the most amazing lady who founded the Home Interior company. She was also the sister-in-law of MaryKay Ash the founder of Mary Kay Products. I have most of the books Mary wrote and I admired her because she was such a wonderful Christian women. When she passed away her children and grandchildren also ran her company into the ground. So sad, she cared more about empowering women and witnessing to them and counseling them then she did making millions. A nurse who cared for Mary while she was at Baylor Hospital in Texas said Mary witnessed for the Lord until she drew her final breath. Although I was never directly involved with this company I made two wonderful friends from all the shows I hosted and attended.

This company, Younique ( a great marketing gimmick) is relatively new (2012) and was founded by a brother and sister team. They are a make up company and their products seems to be excellent. They list each and every ingredient and what that ingredient does. I would love to know more about this company and find out the demographics, do they serve a wide range of ages or do they cater only to the younger set? The company encouraged me to talk with one of their presenters and collect information. But before I make a purchase I want my questions answers.

I do love direct selling companies. I recently attended a show hosted by my friend Lorna. It was this company:

Premier Jewelry! Oh my goodness, we had so much fun.  I chose to take a surprise gift and won a beautiful necklace that is retired from their line. I am going to be hosting a show in the near future. The consultant, jewelry lady, Kasia was so much fun, I felt like the Princess House days, being around someone who has so much enthusiasm ! The way she presented her product and the games we played were great fun.

A gal I know here is very successful in this company. They seem to have a great product too. My niece Holly is involved in this company and loves it. Essential oils have been around for a long time and they do have many great healing qualities.

When it comes to direct selling companies, there are hundreds to choose from. These are just a few of my favorites and a few of the companies that I spent time with. Missing Fun Meme's

Do you remember doing Alphabe Thursday with Ms. Jenny? My goodness, it was just yesterday, if I recall. She had stuck by the AT bunch for a long while and needed a break. I was sad but I thought I know somehow she will be back! Thank goodness Mr. Jenny told her to try something new.  She now hosts Warm Heart Wednesday. Jenny has always been good at organizing and then participating in these fun meme's, But her health took a detour and it was hard to keep up. She did a great job and I miss it so I may do a little potpourri of old meme's for your reading enjoyment. Next there was Thankful Thursday, and although I am not certain who hosted this one, Sandee stills does this because she likes be thankful! I will share here too. Finally Angela, who no longer blogs for lots of busy things going on in her life, including celebrating four years since she discovered she had breast cancer!  She is currently cancer free! She hosted Tuesday Show and Tails and everyone shared their pets and other precious animals each Tuesday. I hope you will join me and perhaps share some of your favorite meme's too.

Before I share my favorite things here, I wanted to mention, occasionally someone posts here at the blog or at social media that we should not use google images because people are suing and people who use those private images are paying lots of money. I say ridiculous. I never use anyone else's work without telling everyone who it belongs to. But if it is on google why not sue them? They probably have more money than the rest of us? ! I think it is foolish and simply another waste of the judicial systems time. I once found a cute google image of a crocheted tea cozy cover. A lady came over and told me her neighbor who was quite elderly use to make those and that cozy was one her friend made. We exchanged pleasant conversation but no lawsuits were filed. Thanks goodness! I guess I need to call my friend  Cat and have her make that watermark we talked about so I can at least see my photos with my blog name on them. She designed my blog header for me with photos that are my mom and her older cousin Hedwig.  We incorporated a few of my favorite things. Thanks Cat, you are such a superb talent.

Mary D use to have a wonderful blog and do a weekly Love is....I have a book filled with these cartoon treats as well as a pinterest page filled with lots of them. The late Kim Casali created these fun cartoon characters and Love is...By the way, at pinterest, if someone does not want you to have their image/photo etc. pinterest tells you that they had to take it down. Easy peasy. No hassles and certainly no lawsuits! Whewwwwww......I use to cut these from the newspaper each day and glue them on to scraps of construction paper. Somewhere in storage here, my hubby has all those! Remember the Rubik's Cube?  Do you think sometimes love is like one?

I miss Mary in Queens, NY. She use to host Maxine on Saturday's! Oh goodness, Maxine is a real pistol! She is very outspoken and I love her and you know, the creator of Maxine is actually a gentleman! Life got in Mary's way too. She was a college professor and I really had fun visiting these each week. I dedicated a board on pinterest to Maxine too. If you follow me there, you will see many Maxine quips! John Wagner is the brains behind Maxine and her creativity.

I suppose you noted my apples at the top of this post. I took that photo when my lil great grandson Jayden was here. He asked me if he could please have an apple. As I was washing the apple he said, "Grammie, please don't take the peel off. Then I won't know if it is a red or green apple, and Grammie, I only like the green apples!" Some of the best conversations I have are with that small boy. This photo is Jayden's "Say Cheese" face. He was entertaining my tiny Cabbage Patch baby named Sierra Miranda. So I think you know that "A" is for that bowl of Apples. I miss Alphabe Thursday too. I did add some pink so stop by the Pink Saturday Pinkies too! I bet you will see other pinks here today!

This tiny sad face is Michael, Jayden's little brother. He loves Grandpa Roger but his teeth were giving him a bit of trouble, so he was a little sad. I am thankful for these boys and their sweet faces. Grateful that they are related to me. Thank you Sandee for reminding me again of doing this Thankful Thursday. Whoever initiated this meme, thank you too.

I thought these two furry friends were perfect to remember a Tuesday Show and Tail! I agree with the words here too, 100 percent!
