Feline Friday and Pink Saturday

 Feline Friday

Some peopel do not like black cats, they tend to be associated with Friday the 13th. Well my boy Boots was the most fabulous feline I ever knew. He was pure class. He had a bit of an ornery streak. If he did not want his photo taken he would turn his head so I could not see his eyes. He had a milk mustache and white paws and a white chest. He was an exquisite gift and I will love him forever.

He never left my side. He always stayed very close by. So while Friday the 13th comes to a close, I cle]ebrate my Handsome boy who lives in my heart forever.

Between Garfield hitting the wall  Phamily Blog and Snoopy stressing I would say this was a good conclusion to my day today.

A vintage pink phone booth in London with a pink phone. when I was young I always wanted that pink Princess phone or the Victorian phone. Sigh.....now people spend way too much time on cellphones. I miss those good old days. Please visit Beverly for a Random Pink Saturday where anything goes. This image came from google.

HAPPY WEEKEND

I am going to have lots of catching up to do. With all the preparations for the birthday party for Hannah life has been busy here. I appreciate each person who stops by and comments. Your friendship is valuable to me. I will be sad when these kids leave to go back home but for now enjoying their company so much.

We hope to get a trip somewhere soon while the kids are here. Ahhhh.....the days of the VW Vans, all colorful and cool. Those were the days.

I have asked for prayer for Holly, a sweetheart of a gal I know from LuLaRoe. She is starting her second round of home chemo next week. Please continue to pray for her. She lost all of her hair so she is having fun with some colorful wigs. She is so pretty. She looks like summer with her colorful wigs. This pink and purple hair is perfect for Pink Saturday. Pray for Holly as she battles this leukemia diagnosis and stop by Beverly's to share some pink.

I miss the days of being able to run. But I can still walk so I can't complain. Life is funny, it is hard and some days nearly impossible. Other days life is very good and no matter how I feel, I am grateful to be here and always thankful when I see God has given me another day on this earth.  Hoping everyone has a beautiful weekend. Take care.

Feline Friday and Anniversary Joy

 Feline Friday

I will always miss my Boots. He was a BFF (Best Feline Friend).  I hope you visit Sandee and wish her a fabulous cruise for their anniversary.  Join the fun too.

Brittany and Jeremy celebrate five years of marriage on April 30th. It was a picture perfect day, snow and all. Stop by Pink Saturday

Jeremy received the very best bonus when he married Brittany. Addy was just a small girl. Today she is a cool teen. These two get along well.

Robinson pham when Blake was just a tiny tiny boy. Memories are the best. We store them inside our hearts. So happy for these kids. They have been in their new place a short while and it looks terrific. They have so much room.  They both work so hard so it is good to see them reap some good benefits. Wishing them a Happy Anniversary today and always.  Photo by Jessica Montoya Phtography.

Pink Saturday

These words are so welcome to me anyway. Opinions change nothing but actions do.

Feline Friday, Friendly Fill- In's and Pink Saturday

 Feline Friday

The day I brought Mister Kitty home, he cried all the way home in the carrier. As he grew older he would stick his paw out of the carrier as if he were a prisoner going to his final destination. For a boy kitty he is terribly dramatic! He recently decided he would hog the bed. We have a battle of wits until one of us falls into a deep sleep. But I never really owned him. He was a gift. It cost more to set up his new carrier, bed, food and vet visit . But I never regretted it. As ornery as he can be he is still a gift.

The battle will begin shortly. He is being obnoxious. He hates the flash of the camera. But he hates the bright lights worse.  Who is gonna win the battle?

Ellen and Lorianne co host this fun blog hop. They each choose of the two questions. Thank you ladies.

1. I don't like to ___________but I have to.

2. I __________like a ________.

3. I secretly ____________.

4. ___________wears me out.

My answers:

1. I don't like to pay taxes, but I have to.

2. I play ball like a girl!

3. I secretly crush on Matthew McConaughey

4. Making our King size XL split adjustable bed wears me out.

Shea Shea is pretty in pink. Even with all the teething misery. She can crack you up. She can "mean mug " you with the best of them . We have a very complex relationship. She knows I have more experience. I watched her brothers so nothing gets past this old  pro grandmother. She doesn't like it sometime and she will Mean Mug me. HaHaHa! The girl has sass and moxie.

RANDOM THINGS with Feline Friday, Friendly Friday Fill In's and Pink Saturday

I will always love baseball.

I did share a Wordless Wednesday photo of the Atlanta Braves stadium I found at Pinterest. It was in the glory days of baseball before all these restrictions.

It is hard to be true to our Colorado Rockies when their greedy owners and management sell off players. We will be following the St. Louis Cardinals as well since they gave Noland Arenado our third baseball to them, We still love Charlie Blackmon and  Trevor Story but we know Trevor's days are numbers. It is a sad business buying and selling people like chattel.

Ellen and Lorianne  co host the Friendly Fill In;s. They each select two questions. Here they are:

1. I never have time to finish ___________.

2. My _________can __________.

3. __________is a cause that is dear to my heart.

4. At this very moment, I ____________.

Here are my answers:

1. I never have time to finish reading all the books I have stacked up.

2. My grandkids can never be naughty or ornery, they are too adorable.

3. Ronald McDonald House is a cause that is dear to my heart.

4. At this very moment, I was watching Leave it to Beaver reruns with my honey on T.V.

Have you ever had a Black and White soda? I miss the days of drugstore counters that served up different sodas. Here is the recipe for this one:

5 ingredients

Condiments
  • 3/4 cup Chocolate syrup
Baking & Spices
  • 1 can Whipped cream in
Drinks
  • 4 cups Carbonated water
Dairy
  • 1 cup Milk
Frozen
  • 2 2/3 cups 8 scoops chocolate ice cream

When I get to have this fun drink I like to use Pepsi products and Club Soda. There are a variety of ways to make this yummy treat. The ingredients in the recipe here will serve 4 people. I would love to find some vintage soda glasses. I probably have some in my Princess House collection. They use to make the best hand blown glassware. I sure miss those days.

This is an older photo of my ornery boy Mister Kitty. But he was so sweet and content here. He is very photogenic, he is just hard to catch and capture. Please visit Feline Friday

Here is a Pink Drink to celebrate Pink Saturday Coconut milk and White CranStrawberry with fresh berries to share with a pink drink loving friend or phamily.

7 ingredients

Produce
  • 3 cup Ocean spray white cranberry strawberry, Juice
  • 3 Strawberries, large
Canned Goods
  • 1 cups Silk original coconut milk or silk unsweetened almond/coconut milk
Condiments
  • 1/3 cup Simple syrup

I think one cup of sugar is way too much to add to this drink. I would add it only to taste.  The recipe may be off as I know simple sryup is one cup of water and one cup of sugar. The
berries will give it the flavor with the Coconut milk.  You can always add Whipped Cream.

Sweet Dreams to all and enjoy a wonderful weekend.
Baking & Spices
  • 1 cup Sugar
Frozen
  • 1 Ice cubes
Liquids
  • 1 cup Water

Weekend Update and Pink Saturday

I bought a new laptop today. Sincethe weather is whacky and we are unsure how the roads will be tomorrow, I won't be able to use it until it is fully set up. Jeremy, our son, is our go to guy for all the technology stuff. Our daughter Rebekah and her hubby Zach too.  The laptop is similar to the one I have had. It will be nice to have a computer that isn't jumping all over the place. My skills are limited with technology.

I found this poem at Pinterest and wanted to share it for Pink Saturday

My Boots will be gone 9 years March 16th. So I am dedicated some posts to him all week.

Hoping you have a restful night. Praying tomorrow brings new light, not 4 feet of snow on our grouns and time to return to visit again.

Feline Friday Friendly Fill In's and Piink Saturday

Wherever puppies go, this one will move in and take over. Finn loves to sleep here but now this fellow is resting there too.

Is he a ham or just a crazy kitty? Always seeking attention. He is a different sort of fellow.

This area is strictly off limits to felines. Hmmmm.....somebody does not follow the rules. Please visit Feline Friday

Ellen and Lorianne share this fun blog hop. They each think up the questions. Here they are with my answers.

1. Nothing is better then  living your life your way not the world's way or anyone else's way.

2. I plant my garden after Memorial Day in Colorado.

3.  Walking makes me feel energized.

4. I would advise others to turn off their TV and don't let the media dictate to you.

Visit Pink Saturday I found a recipe for a fresh Strawberry Cake today and than I found this one. Here is the recipe :

Fresh Strawberry Cake

The only Fresh Strawberry Cake recipe you'll ever need! A fluffy vanilla cake is loaded with fresh sweet strawberries and a rich cream cheese whipped cream.
Servings:  Servings
Prep45 minutes
Cook25 minutes
Cooling3 hours
Ready in: 4 hours 10 minutes

IIngredients

Cake

  • 3 cups (370g) cake flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (8 oz) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cup (390g) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 1/4 cups milk (anything but skim)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Strawberry Cream Cheese Whipped Cream

  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup (125g) powdered sugar, divided
  • 8 oz cream cheese , left at room temperature until partially softened (about 20 - 30 minutes)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 lbs strawberries , hulled and sliced into pieces slightly under 1/2-inch
  • Sliced strawberries for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 3 9-inch round cake pans then line bottom with a round of parchment, butter parchment and lightly dust pan with flour, shake out excess. Set pans aside.
  • Make the cake: Sift cake flour into a medium mixing bowl. Add baking powder and salt and whisk 20 seconds, set aside.
  • In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (if you don't have a paddle that constantly scrapes bowl while mixing then stop mixer occasionally throughout entire mixing process and scrape down sides and bottom of bowl to ensure even mixing), whip together butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  • Mix in eggs and egg yolks one a time adding in vanilla with last egg yolk. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture at a time (to the butter/egg mixture) alternating with 1/2 of the milk and mixing on low speed just until combined after each addition. Scrape down sides and bottom of bowl and gently fold batter several times.
  • Divide batter among prepared baking pans. Bake in preheated oven 25 - 30 minutes until toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan about 5 minutes, run knife around edges of cake to ensure they are loosened then invert onto wire racks to cool completely (I recommend transferring them to gallon size resealable bags after about 25 minutes of cooling so they don't dry and let them finish cooling in the bag).
  • Once cool frost with Strawberry Cream Cheese Whipped Cream. Store cake in an airtight container in refrigerator.
  • For the topping: In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form (occasionally scrape down sides and bottom of bowl to ensure even mixing).
  • Add 1/3 cup powdered sugar and whip until stiff peaks form (make sure they are stiff or your topping will be runny, it should get to the point where it doesn't have a wet sheen). Scrape cream out into a separate bowl.
  • Add cream cheese to bowl of stand mixer, fit with paddle attachment and whip cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
  • Mix in remaining 2/3 cup powdered sugar and vanilla (I've made this cake twice and the second time I added a few drops of liquid red food coloring at this point for a better pink, that pictured was without).
  • Add strawberries and mix until uniform in color. Remove bowl from stand mixer, add whipped cream and fold into mixture. Frost over cooled cake.

Notes

Recipe source: inspired by Spiced Blog
  • Feel free to add a few drops of red food coloring to the frosting to make it a lovely pink color.
  • If you only have salted butter on hand, scale back on the amount of salt you add into the cake batter.

Feline Friday, Answer for Friendly Fill In's and Pink Saturday

Feline Friday is a favorite. I was just lucky catching this kitty admiring me. HaHaHa! He is a scardey cat and he likes to stay close to me so I took this yesterday. He is also always cold like Rose use to be so he likes the bed because I rarely turn off the heated blanket. He gets cozy and falls asleep so I can sneak away.

Here are my answers to Friendly Fill In's . Ellen hosts this blog hop with Lorianne :

1. You don't have to convince me eat dark chocolate truffles. One at a time and one each day I feel like it.

2. Crazy driving is causing me stress. I prefer to stay home and stay away from those who do not pay attention, drive while under the fluence of whatever! I do not like to be stressed so enjoying quiet is my cup of tea.

3. Speaking from experience, don't forget to turn off the whistling tea kettle. Although I probably have the most sanitized stove in the country!

4. Over time, my opinion of social media sites has changed.

These truffles are the best! I had that pretty pink heart one in the right hand corner/ It is dark chocolate with raspberry. Sigh.... Please visit Pink Saturday
