HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY TO ME!

I could not resist this sweet treat cake that I found on an internet image! It is perfect to celebrate my first blogaversary! One year ago November 1, 2009 I started this blog. My life long friend Barb encouraged me to do it. I started writing because my daughter Rebekah's little dog 'Tinkerbell' was diagnosed with liver disease. She passed away in May 2010. It was a sad time for us but we enjoyed that little girl right until the end of her life. She lived a long time and was treated like royalty here.
In celebration of my blogaversary I need to draw the winner of the Vintage Garden tea for one. I started that giveaway in honor of my 200 followers. Once I reached 200 I was going to draw the winner and lots of stressful things started happening around here. So I will draw the winner on Saturday November 6th 2010! You can still enter if you join my phamily blog. The following Saturday the 13th I will draw my dual winners for the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks. I am giving two of them away. You just need to be a follower and tell me what you want for Christmas. I will draw a winner for my blogaversary celebration on November 20th. It will be a surprise and as soon as I get my photos to load I will share that with you! So come join the fun.  On my birthday December 3rd I will draw the winning name for the Colorado inspired postcard giveaway! I ended up with every state in the USA plus Canada, Switzerland, Greece, Norway, and many other fine countries. I will share them all with you soon. I love all of you here and enjoy visiting when I can. Please forgive me until this housing situation is settled. I will see you soon. Keep blogging.

LOVE IS....

Today 'Sweets' and I spent some time looking at houses. We found one that we want and made an offer. Now the waiting begins. Prayers please. I think when you are married for a long time you start to revolve around each other like the planets in outer space. One thing he does compliments me and visa versa! We have so many of the same goals in this chapter of our lives. I hope you will join Love is...each week. It is such a fun meme and I enjoy watching to see what other Love is...someone else shares!
Join us please:

Joshua 24:15 (New American Standard Bible)

15"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or (A)the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

WELCOME TO SPIRITUAL SUNDAY

Test all things; hold fast to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21 – 22

I am so happy to join Spiritual Sunday this week. I found this verse and it reached out to me. I know some will think it is in regard to Halloween and I truthfully I have never been a big fan of too  much scary and gorey stuff. I certainly do not advocate joining a witch coven or participating in a Wickeen religious  celebration but I rather was thinking about the political election coming up and God was giving this to me to use wisely. I was a terrible Catholic because I always asked lots of questions. I found out, by myself, at a very early age, that no one, not the Lord's mother, or any of the saints were going to help me. I would have to go directly to the one who gave His life for me. I never looked back. I respect anyone who has other religious beliefs which are certainly your own cup of tea. But I know what I feel in my heart and I  know Christ died for my sins. I have a very personal relationship with Him and I will not look for anything else to satisfy my spiritual needs.  I won't be persuaded by anyone or any religion. Christ is not a religion. He is the one and only Son of God and the love I have for Him in my heart has given me the peace to continue living and waiting on His word. I find myself acting more calm and not getting so upset about small things. When my kids were babies many years ago I made a pact with God. I promised Him I would remind myself and thank Him daily for some simple pleasure He gives me. Things many take for granted. I heard someone make a rude remark about "blind" people today. It really sent a cold chill through my spine. So I look into the sky and thank God for the clouds. The warm sunshine.  I pray for the ignorance some show at the expense of others. The raggedy old house I currently call home. I am grateful to be able to get up and go to work. I could write a book about those simple things. But I will say God was holding my hand when when I filled out that voting ballot and whatever happens, happens  for His purpose. I just know I did the very best I could to avoid evil and steer myself from it. I think a lot of Americans are sick and tired of the condition of our government and the disrepect we receive from all political parties. People want to take back their rights and we want to see change. I mean real honest to goodness change. I will continue to take my chances with God. He created me and I think He is best suited for all my needs. When I go with my sweets tomorrow and look at houses to live in I know He will be there with us. That is how I choose to live my life.

Today Nick ran his heart out in the blasting wind. God may have been pushing him along although I had hoped the wind would have been behind the runners but I am seeing a young man emerge where a silly boy once was.  We should have the final results of the state meet tomorrow. He came in the top 100 though out of 200 runners. God is so good. No matter what life tosses in your path He is there with His army of angels and He will personally lift you over those troubling spots. Please pray for my friend Sandy L. Diagnosed two weeks ago with breast cancer. Pray for our house hunting. I am hopeful God will lead us to the right home. Pray for our current landlord Robert that he may get some financial relief as well. Pray when you vote, if you haven't already. Don't let anyone bully you. Go and ask God. He will give you the support you need. Please join Charlotte and Ginger at bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

F Is For Faith

When I thought about my Alphabe Thursday letter for this week there was only word that I could post about. Faith! It is was gets me by. It gets me through my days. It has sustained me when nothing else worked! Trying times seem to find my phamily. Fun wants to allude us and frenzied thinking wants to take over our lives. We have to  keep the faith. We find that Christ and Him alone can finance our future which is where we want to be home- Heaven. Having been stressed out to the max trying to find a suitable home to move into we place our future in the Faithful One. He is helping us to find balance and finally peace in our lives as we wait for the perfect place to move into.

Please visit as many Alphabe Thursday posts are you can and thank our favorite teach Mrs. Matlock who pulls all the posts together.
Finally if you get a moment please watch my favorite Wednesday night show "Friday Night Lights". It is a family style show set in Texas and high lights high school football! You will love it!

I LOVE THE PETS!

Please visit Angela here. Join the fun on Tuesday with show and tail! Tonight I want to do a quick review of the pets we have: Boots, Bandit, Rose, Smokey, and Stella. Boots and Rose are the cats and the three siblings are the dogs! Now my neighbors laugh when I left the kids out. I yell "Smokey be kind to your sister and brother!" You would laugh too. Smokey is a boxador. He is 75 pounds of pure child! Bandit is the old man, having turned nine this year. He is a solid 9 lbs. and the most neurotic rat terrier alive! Stella is our adopted baby. We gues-ta-mate that she was born in February 2008. Jeremy found her in the middle of a busy road in October 2008. She has lived with us since. She is part blue heeler and she protects the boys! She protects the cats. While Layla and Trek spent 10 days with us while our daughter Noelle and phamily were waiting to move, Stella made sure Trek stayed away from her brothers and the cats! She is very protective. Boots is the senior of the clan.He was born on May 3rd (our wedding anniversary) 12 years ago! He is a beautiful "got milk" kitty with gorgeous markings. He is very smart and he prefers private time and likes his nap time.  Rose is the original red neck. That darn kitty ate my fried chicken! I will never forgive her for that!  But she is a lover and cold blooded as all get out! Look at their sweet faces here and remember to pray. We are hopeful if we can come up with a small down payment we can get into our own home again! The stress of hateful people telling us we have too many people and that they hate dogs or they hate cats is taking its toll. Some of the rental homes are just concealing major flaws so...Pray, and pray hard. Then go visit the participates of our weekly show and tail!

This post makes me smile because I would not give up any phamily for all the wealth in the world, for all the magnificent homes or anyhting else! So come join this sweet weekly post.
Join myself along with Marydon and Sherry to share some fun.Have a happy week!

Dealing With Stress

I often eat my own words! Oh, they are not terrible or anything just always encouraging to someone going through a difficulty. Then there is myself! Oh, God and I talk. Yesterday I prayed through the entire day about the housing situation here, about the car holding out for us, about everything that stresses me and bothers me! I always ask for the top angels to surround my phamily. To sit at my side. I am never afraid to ask God! Then he says to me very quietly:

Dealing with Stress

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

I hope you thank Charlotte and Ginger at  Spiritual Sunday.  I did not get to visit like I wanted to last week. My head was still swirling from the hours of mountain riding in the car last Sunday. But this week I will do better. I love all of you and enjoy the insight I receive from all the different posts everyone puts up. I Know SS has a separate prayer blog and Denise over at her blog. But I would like to ask you to visit Annie  here. Her unborn baby Ollie may have a health issue only God can handle. Please support this terrific family. Prayer is good but visiting Annie is better too because you can tell her you are praying and read over her blog. She is a special friend and I ask for prayer for the family

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:13-16).

As for me heeding my own advice, here is that answer:

Psalm 84:2-4
My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.

I think God will help us find a house. Keep those prayers coming.

THURSDAY IS HERE! CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE! WE ARE GOING TO STATE!

Moving into the weekend! It is amazing how quickly time flies! Today I have a half day at work, leaving at 12:30 for Nick's meet. This is it. This the end of an awesome but sometime difficult season. Last year Jerry Nick's team mate struggled with his hip and other issues. This year he is a senior and unstoppable. Pray for him today so that he will be a top qualifier for the State Competition in Cross Country. Pray that Nick and his entire team do well and stay healthy for this last run of the season. Keep Nick in your prayers. This was a tough year for him and he learned a lot. He once had an arch enemy Des who is now just another buddy running the race. Pray for Des. He is awesome too but stuck on a team of lack lustre runners who are not into it. He is a bright young man and I wish him well. It took a lot of courage and help from my backfield, The Lord and His top people to change my heart. I wanted my son to be a winner. He is. No matter what comes his way he will always be a winner to me. I want him to succeed but no at the price of hurting someone else. Cross Country is a different sport than football or the other top rated scholarship earning sports. You become part of an extended phamily. It is a good clean sport and I pray all the runners today succeed whatever their plans may be.
As always I thank each and everyone of you for stopping by. Eventually I get around to visit but some weeks are difficult.
Last night we saw the house two blocks from here. The owners were super nice and we liked the house. Problem is so does everyone else because of this market we are sliding downward in. Pray, that is all we can do about it.
I will see you later and wish you a beautiful day full joy and Christ's blessings. Thanks
This is an update regarding the regional trials for Cross Country. THS  Cross Country team is going to state. Those boys ran their best race and they took second place as a team! Next weekend we will be at the State Competition. Prayer is always welcome. Thanks for all your thoughtful comments. I will get pictures posted this weekend! I still have to organize my photos from Durango!

"E" Is For Eye

Give our teacher a hand for handling Alphabe Thursday like the stern and strict sister of Mrs. Matlock! You can find her here.
Today I want to talk about the letter "E". I thought, economy. Egads! That would be awful! Eels, slippery! East where the sun rises! "Edward" the name of my late father. But I would start getting too emotional and let me tell you, I am currently an emotional train wreck! Housing woes, car difficulties and worse than all of it hatefulness in the work place. So while I have one ounce of dignity left and half an ounce of emotional common sense let me proceed with my post.
I thought about posting about the ear, after all, I work for the ENT doctor but I find the eye a fascinating  member of the human body. Eyes tell a lot about a person. Look at Tony Romo and George H.W. Bush! Those two beady eyed guys look shifty to me! I like bright sparkling eyes. No offense to those that are fans of  Romo the qb for Dallas Cowboys football team and H.W. the former president of the USA but they do have beady little eyes! The eye is such an intricate member. Eyes are organs that detect light and convert it to electro-chemical impulses in neurons. You can research the eye and find out lots of interesting and scientific facts about the eyes and the differences with eyes from  humans to snakes! I will show you some eyes instead. Beady boy eyes belonging to HW Bush and Romo. Not a big fan of Patrick Dempsey but he sure has prettt eyes. My sweets favorite Barbie Benton, one time Playboy Playmate with gorgeous eyes. Cat eyes, dog eyes and my top pic owl eyes! Go visit all the other E posts today. Thank you.

An Early Thanksgiving Message

I think Thanksgiving is so under rated that I want to share an image I found on the internet with you. This turkey says it all. My father use to say that turkeys were not the smartest animals and usually you will find them undercover when they are outdoors. They are not smart enough to run for shelter in the rain and other elements so they can drown! Silly old turkeys. Each Thanksgiving my kids fight over who will name the turkey. The bird has to be sitting in the sink awaiting preparation before they can christen him with a name! HeeHee
So this is my Tuesday show and tail! Are you going to have a traditonal turkey for Thanksgiving? Poor ole bird, still holding on to hope with his sign.
Now go visit http://wvtreasures.blogspot.com/ so you can enjoy all the other posts and remind Angela  how we all appreciate her setting up this weekly meme.
My favorite quote that I keep secretly in my desk drawer at work says "How can I fly with eagles when I work with turkeys?" That my friends, says it all!

SAFELY IN THE SECURITY OF THE LORD

Today I am going home. I have been in Durango Colorado with my oldest daughter, her hubby, my youngest daughter and her beau. Nick had been so ill I thought of canceling but my sweets said go, he had it all covered. Nick is recovering from a horrible case of strep throat. Those amazing anti-biotics really do their job!
We are going to take Markus back to Gunnison three and a half hours from Durango. My strength of my Lord and Saviors lies in the fact that e will travel over the million dollar highway here. This 45 minutes road is completed in ten minutes on youtube. Please enjoy the view while you are praying for me and the phamily today.
I am afraid of traveling over Monarch Pass here.
While you stop by Spiritual Sunday and visit Charlotte and Ginger to thank them for hosting this Sunday post please visit all the other participates of these soul feeding journey we all are on. These are two amazing ladies and we thank them for their hard work making this go off each week.
Today I will leave you with this verse:
38For I am convinced that neither (A)death, nor life, nor (B)angels, nor principalities, nor (C)things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from (D)the love of God, which is (E)in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Turn to Romans 8:38-39 for some safety securing yourself in His loving arms.

Pink Piggies

Another Pink Saturday. How does the time fly ? Hee Hee Today I wanted to share some sweet pink images of precious pink piggies and flying piggies! My middle daughter has been talking about buying a pot bellied pig one day and I started thinking about these pink pigs!I pulled these images from the internet. Stop by Beverly's here. She is an absolute wonderful force behind this Pink Saturday success Thank her for putting this together each week. Then stop by to visit LV here. She participates in this weekly post and always has something wonderful to share on her blog. She is one of those quiet, kindhearted souls who draws you in with her flair for pulling each post together with everyday wonders. I truly enjoy knowing her. Here you can find Genie at her blog which is new to me and she was new to Pink Saturday last week. She is posting a lot of great treasures here so please join her soon.
I am heading over to my oldest daughters new house to spend the night so we can rise early and hit the road. Durango is four hours from Pueblo (two less than Denver) and we will stop to say hello to the relatives there. Pray for our safety on the roads and enjoy your weekend, pink piggies and all!

PRAYER UPDATE

I NEED PRAYER FOR NICK. HE IS TERRIBLY ILL. I WILL TRY TO UPDATE LATER. PLEASE PRAY

"do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Luke 6:31

Today as I prepared for work with less than five hours of sleep, I prayed and prayed harder. Nick has been waiting for an entire year to run in the league race today and he is laid up with a terrible case of strep throat. My doc that I work for suggested we take his tonsils soon. He hopes to travel to Phoenix and run in the Nike Invitational again at Thanksgiving time. So we are hopeful my doc has Christmas here so we can get this boy in and have those nasty tonsils removed. Hannah has been, knock on wood, well ,since her tonsils came out in May 2010 .
I am just sad for Nick mainly because he would get his picture on the "Wall of Fame" at school. But he can try to run the race next year. I freak out with high fever because my brother and his wife lost their precious 18 year old daughter in 1996 to a rare form of blood poisoning and it all started with flu like symptoms and a high fever. I try not to live in fear but when it comes to my children, I often lose control of my senses and Nick was in so much pain throughout last night and it scared us. I am grateful to God that we had the necessary insurance to take him to the urgent care for treatment. He now has an anti-biotic but he is still feeling very poorly. His fever is starting to be contained.
I was overwhelmed by the prayers you all prayers for him today. I was getting ready for a horrible day at work and I had to put that post up. I am going to add to it here and want all of you to know how absolutely amazing you are.
I am so overwhelmed at work. When I woke up at three a.m. this morning with my sick child I read the verse I posted here. I went to work and posted it on my phone. But God just keeps letting Satan have his way with my phamily. I feel so awful and I appreciate all of you more than you can ever know.
I was planning to give up the Durango trip but my sweets wants me to go so he will stay here with Nick while Hannah and I go with Noelle and Roger. It will be a sad weekend without the rest of my phamily but my sweets will go look at a house to rent. Please pray that he makes the right decision about moving. I think part of our problem is this house is loaded with mold and it is very unhealthy. The electrical wiring is very unsafe and our landlord is going to lose this property. He will never get what he paid for it and he owns the entire balance because he was given an interest only loan. Nothing works, the roof is in dire need of replacment. The electrical wiring is outdated and somewhat frightening. The wood floors were heavily damaged from the poor insulation and cheap windows when we moved it. They are no better now having been replaced by more cheap windows.
I do not wish to burden you with my blabbering about something I have no control over. I just kep asking for your prayers.
I feel so guilty asking sometime. I see AngelDawn and Colette and many other sweet bloggerettes suffering with cancer and other hardships. But I never stop praying. For Shauna and Ron and Lisa and Heather and all the wonderful people I know here struggled with their own I think, as my late mother use to say, we all have our own cross to bear. Some just have a lighter load than the rest of us. But I will not allow my faith to be shattered.
Just keep praying...

"D" is for "What's For Dinner?"

I love posting through the alphabet!  I have such great fun! Tonight, I am sharing my "D" with you. Dinner. I love to sit down to a nice home cooked meal. That rarely happens around here. By the time the day is done we are dog tired and don't have the energy to create a delicious and delectable meal! But we try to eat healthy. Some time it is not easy.

Pizza sounds like it would not be too healthy. But creating the right toppings you can eat pizza healthy style! Since both of our boys work for a pizza company we have become quite good at mixing and matching combos. Sweets and I love red pepper and mushroom on super thin crust. It is so yummy. Add a salad and dinner is served.
Steak and lobster is a special occasion dinner. We are also fans of crab legs and have been known to stand over a plate on the counter and dip with butter and lemon and eat massive amounts of these tasty treats!

Another favorite dinner time treat chile rellenos. We love Mexican food at our house.
How about some dinnertime comfort food? Mac n cheese is a dinnertime favorite. I like to try different recipes and keep improving them.

Breakfast for dinner? Why not! Pancakes and waffles and bacon and eggs. There is a tasty dinner with something for everyone.

Have you had your dinner yet? Hee Hee. I thought this might make you hungry. Please join the Alphabe Thursday fun! Enjoy my images I found on the internet.

LOVE IS...

I am a total sap! I love my sweets. I adore him. I am sad when I am not with him. I love spending time with him! I love this cute pink clock! It keeps us on a timely schedule during the workweek! I should have posted it for Pink Saturday too! Come join the Love is... with Marydon here and Sherry here

A Diamond in the Rough

This sweet little pup belongs to my niece and her phamily in Pueblo. "Diamond" is a sweet pup who is part blue heeler and has a diamond marking in her forehead. She has been part of their phamily for as long as I can remember. Here is a photo of her taken recently:
I hope you will join Angela here and enjoy this fun weekly post that is celebrating one year! Congrats to Angela!

I am suffering terrible vertigo and Phil is back in court. I am not sure he took their advice and took a public defender. It is raining like mad here. Please keep Rebekah and Phil safe in your prayers. Thank you.

WALKING IN THE WAY OF THE LORD

There is nothing like a little stressful situation in your life to make you realize who the boss really is! I wake up in prayer and I fall asleep at night in prayer. But during the day we often get sidetracked with life. Yesterday was no exception. We thought we would be able to move into a beautiful rental home. Then the land lord, a used car sales owner, changed his mind. Have you ever bought a car and when you get down to the details of it all, the fight is on? That is what happened to us. If we had the kind of money he wanted up front we would probably be an heir to Bill Gates! Enough said.

So I claim this verse as my daily reminder "Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth." Psalm 86:11

I feel like I need this  because I get caught up with everyone else in what is going on. Today we are going to see a beautiful house we drove and see if the lady will work with us and make a comfortable rental deal. It is three blocks from the fire station off a busy main road. It has a beautiful privacy fence and enough bedrooms for all of us. Pray for us. I hope you will not tire of me asking. I am bold when it comes to God and prayer together. I think it is a winning combination.

I was reading a little daily scripture that I read every single day and have since 1987 and I thought this analogy was terrific to break down God's word. There was a man who shot an arrow on the side of a barn. He walked up to the barn and painted a bulls eye around the arrow. It is so easy to get caught up in this world and trust our own instincts when in reality we know God's are on target.

I will leave you today on Spiritual Sunday with this verse " There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end is the way of death." Proverbs 14:12

Please stop by and thank Charlotte and Ginger for hosting this soul feeding Sunday fest. Go here to join us. Have a wonderful week.

PINK TREASURES

Welcome to Pink Saturday! I hope you have stopped by Beverly's to thank her for hosting this weekly post. It is so much fun and she works so hard so everyone can enjoy it. I had some new pink treasures to share with you and I am not sure what happened to my photos. My husband locked them into the photo gallery and I can not display them.

So I am sharing an internet image of the breast cancer awareness ribbon today.

This is a yummy looking treat with zero calories. We can continue to support this cause and help spread awareness of the deadly disease known as breast cancer.

I usually feature a pinkie or two here but because of my chaotic situation here with this news that we suddnely have to move I hope you will understand. Please continue to pray. It is the only answer I find comfort in. Thanks and enjoy the pink sweetness of Pink Saturdays.
