My Word for 2017 and Other Shares

Kindness is the word I have chosen for 2017. A New year, a new start to wipe the slate clean and start new beginnings.
I am not much for making promises of diet and exercise but I will try to keep active and eat some fresh foods in 2017. Otherwise I really want to write in my blog more frequently and post at Instagram. Face book is so liberal and so many angry souls there. I am trying to get away from it more and more. So I will try to use kindness more and more. The world is in dire need of it.
I hope you stop by Sandee's  and share your favorite Aw....Mondays post too! Friends consoling friends because they got a cat! You can not make this stuff up! I love it!
September 6, 2015. This is one of the blue sky shots I am sharing here. Stop by and say hello to Jeanne at Blue Monday.
These were blue skies and fluffy clouds when Nick attended Cowley College in Ark City, Kansas. Lots of wide open spaces, something we don't have much of here these days.
A favorite find from the running days when Nick ran competitively. I collected so many quotes.  Lots of amazing photos and many stats of great runners. It all starts by putting one foot in front of the other.
I keep hearing many of us will be in the deep freezer in the upcoming weeks. Maxine is gearing up!

Auntie Ang and me about 1955. My folks had a beautiful front yard. Dad took pride in his yard and those trees that stood on either side of the front sidewalk. I am sad when I see the condition of my once beautiful phamily home. They even tore out the link link fence and replaced it with a rickety old wooden fence. These photo s make me smile about the way things were.
Auntie Ang in May, 1978, probably getting ready to celebrate Uncle Louie's big birthday in May 1970. Although she and Uncle Louie had no children of their own, they sure loved all the kids in my maternal phamily. All the cousins spent a lot of time together and enjoyed riding in the backseat of Uncle's car. He would treat us to the Dairy Delux and take us for rides out in the country. Good times and happy memories.
Uncle Louie with his younger brother Tony (left). Tony perished in a mining accident with their dad in February 1927.
Uncle Louie at his May 8th birthday bash back in 1970. He was a remarkable man.
A perfect verse for the first day of 2017. Happy New Year to all!
My Denver Broncos missed the playoffs this year. It is the first time since 2011. But instead of enjoying their win over the Raiders as their head coach steps down due to health problems, we have to listen to all the negative chatter about a player getting into a tiff with another player and now they want to throw criminal charges at the Bronco. All I know is these guys are human. They laugh, they win, they get hurt and yes they lose their temper. Last year when Josh Norman, the former Panther got into a hassle with Giants Odell Beckham Jr. only Beckham was suspended. Some teams get away with cheap shots and others are penalized for every single step they take. If you choose to use these guys as role models that is your business. But play fair all the way around. The expression,  "to each his own" holds so true for pro sports today. We have the politically correct crowd, we have the haters, the football lovers. No one wants to get along. Everyone wants to sling mud and judge everyone else. No one ever looks at the finger pointing and sees their own fingers pointing back at them. Just some random football thoughts. #ilovefootball #respect #broncoscountryorangeandblue #toomanypoliticsnomorefun

CHRISTmas Memories and More

Harrison James celebrated his first Christmas in a big way!  He has lots of great grandparents and so he has to travel to several homes to celebrate. He had the cutest little outfit on. His grandma Lisa found this for his first CHRISTmas. He was a bit overwhelmed with all the gifts but after a restful night of sleep he resumed his enjoyment of many new gifts and even a few boxes and some wrapping paper and tissue to sit in.
He was in wrapping paper heaven here. This was with his mommy and daddy and grandma Lisa and grandma Caroline. CHRISTmas Eve 2016. Harrison is a joyful boy!

The Robinson siblings. CHRISTmas 2016. I will share more holidays photos soon. I wanted to share with Sandee and the folks at Aw....Mondays.
These two pets look like they enjoyed their CHRISTmas festivities. Perhaps a bit too much! Our pets were all hanging out yesterday because we had 27 people in the house for dinner and they had to stay downstairs. They were not happy but my grandson Andrew brought his cousin Robert and a co worker Devon to dinner so those guys entertained the pets with Nick. I did not get any great photo ops with the furry bunch.

This google image too reflects the holiday season. This pup is decked out in blue in case Jeanne and anyone from the Blue Monday bunch stops by. Jeanne has had some internet woes. We hope she will return soon.
A google image of a kitty cat in blue. I thought these would make a nice after CHRISTmas smile.
Love is...always has a smile, holidays or not! We need to get the grands and see "Sing", love those animated movies to make a day smile brightly.
You know every single phamily has one of these holiday stressful situations at one time or another. Maxine just tells it like it is! She needs a "Grumpy Cat"!
My folks would certainly smile if they could see my phamily. My great grand boy Jayden took my CHRISTmas hat so I forgot to take the hairpins out of my hair! Sometime  you just have to be yourself!
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson celebrated their first CHRISTmas as husband and wife.
The grandgirl Addy and me. She is a precious gem in my phamily. I love her company. Although my Broncos lost any chance of heading to the Super Bowl I rooted for them in my retro brand new shirt. A gift from my honey.
Hope your CHRISTMAS was merry and bright. I will see you soon and share more of my phamily here. Take care and God Bless you with sweet dreams tonight.

Will You Have A Blue Christmas?

Leo says "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" He wanted to show Sandee how handsome he is and also very nice. He has been into a bit of mischief lately so he knows Santa is watching him. Stop by Aw...Mondays and say hello to Sandee.

This is not our Bronco  Christmas tree but we are adding new ornaments each year. Perhaps, next year, God willing, we can have a real Denver Bronco blue and orange tree. I know Jeanne will like all the blue filling the tree and Leo's pretty handsome blue collar too! Stop by and say hello.
Even Love is...decided to add some blue today! My honey loves his coffee every single morning even when we were sick and drinking gallons of hot tea.
Oh Maxine, you even wore some blue today too!
One thing we enjoy at all the holidays is potica. No one could ever make it like my mom but this is darn close.  I love CHRISTmas so I am looking forward to it. I have been busy preparing lists and wrapping gifts with my honey.
My husband always read the Christmas story to our kids when they were small. Now there are grands to enjoy this time with. I hope you all have a beautiful CHRISTmas time. Love to all and stay safe and warm wherever you are. We are in a deep freeze.

Lots of Blue Just for You

You know Grumpy Cat is very unhappy! He should know better, that sometime the holiday season will make us overindulge. That is not a good reason to be such a meanie! But this face is priceless and perhaps Sandee agrees. It has been a few long weeks, just feeling about 80 percent better today. My honey and I have been coughing our heads off! He at least can get a breathing treatment. I have suffered long and hard with this junk. Yesterday I ate a garlic bagel. It really helped suppress the cough.I have spent many days getting ready for Christmas. We are going out for the little ones. It is what makes me smile at Christmas anyway. So I have been busy getting ready. Stop by Aw....Mondays and say hello to everyone there.
This pretty tree dressed in blue sits in the lobby of my honey's office building. I went there with him yesterday to sort mail. Oh my goodness, when he came back to the car with a giant tub filled with four tubs of mail and 17 packages I nearly cried! It was my birthday and I was hoping we would not spend the day sorting mail! He has to log in each and every package with a tracking number. If it belongs to an attorney he must send him and his secretary an email. It took him a long while to get it all done. So I started to sort 1-2-3.....200 law magazines for 200 attorneys! We spent three hours at his office but felt very accomplished when we left.
These blue and silver decorations fill the square planters in the lobby. I thought Jeanne and the Blue Crew might like seeing these. I have been missing visiting and posting the last few weeks. I am happy to be back.
I was thinking, Grumpy cat needs someone to love him! I thought this sign was sweet.
We had to buy another jar of honey. We are very particular. We love Colorado honey best of all. We have lived on chicken broth and hot tea with honey for nearly 3 weeks! We should be skinny! Hee Hee!
Oh Maxine, she is a grumpy girl and should take Grumpy Cat to her house. Maybe they would decide being nicer is the right thing to do.
My cousin Sissy who is a sheriff's deputy, sent this birthday message to me. She also called me a "Beautiful BoJon" and really made my day. No cake this year. The hubby bought me a nice lunch and we shared a slice of carrot cake later that evening. He bought me 8 Vintage Precious Moments. I am so happy. The kids bought me some Barbie's so I will share them soon. My girlfriend Lynette sent an ice cream gift card and my  friend Karen in Idaho, who I have known the longest, sent me a cute card and really lovely handwritten letter. I received some nice cards and I also got a pair of Clark's Cloudwalker shoes. They feel like marshmallows on my feet. Ahhhhhh.......... The birthday went by quickly but it was a very good one.
My pillow and a nice cup of hot tea with honey is calling my name. Enjoy the week.

Daily Thoughts

A Pinterest find for Aw....Mondays. These two love each other. Don't you wish we all could get along in our world? What a fine place it would be. Tell Sandee and all the participates hi today and share your favorites too. Monday's can be blue for some folks, so this will perk you right up with all the smiles you will find. Take care.
My grandson Colton is 20 years old. He has his own son Harrison James. But my hubby still has this photo on his desk at work. I sent this photo to Colton on Saturday. Although he was at work, he stopped to acknowledge me and said he loved the program Blues Clues which was a great kids program a long time ago. You can see the Blues Clues dog in the background here. He was blue and white perfect for Blue Monday along with the blue picture frame. Stop by and give Jeanne a Monday hello. She does a great job like Sandee keeping these posts up and running each week. Thank you ladies.
I shared this Love is... with you because you know I love these little comic characters, they have made me smile since the 1970's. But this one makes me smile because in our newspaper yesterday I found an article that said my city, Northglenn, is one of the hottest housing markets in the USA! No no! Now I know why that annoying realtor guy kept knocking on my door. He wants to buy my house! Well.....unless he can guarantee the same mortgage payment, and at least the same square footage for the price we paid we have to tell him N O everytime he bothers us! My little city is a sweet place to live. Quiet and these homes, built in 1964 are solid brick.  I do not want a house that costs $400,000 and has siding! Eeehewwwwwwww......when I can have durable brick that took time, effort and love to build! In fact, several years ago my hubby and I met an elderly gentleman in the grocery store. He started a conversation with us and asked if we lived in Northglenn. When we said yes, he said he was a retired brick layer and probably laid the brick for our home! I just do not want people with more money then us to come in here and bully their way by snatching our property out from under us! Many elderly folks still reside here and this kind of action is happening in older, beautiful neighborhoods in the Denver metro area. No matter how many "bad" stories I have heard about Five Points near downtown Denver the fact of the matter is, elderly black grandmothers were forced out of their homes by these yuppie types who tear their homes down and build these gawd awful Stepford looking houses that look like cardboard cookie cutter houses! U G H! This has also happened and is happening in North Denver which once held a large Italian and Hispanic population. Now elderly folks are being forced out for these wealthy youngsters to come in and steal their land. These people have no where to go. In Northglenn, a two bedroom apartment rents for $2,000 a month. In Denver, my goodness, I know the housing costs are astronomical. My girlfriend and her phamily have lived a great part of their lives in Park Hill. She said on her brother Teddy's block, only five original owners remain. Teddy told us that a crazy woman walked up to his neighbor, the good doctor's home and rang his bell saying "I am buying your home". The doctor said "Mad'am my home is not for sale." She said " I am going to buy your home" He said "Not for sale, goodbye." and slammed the door shut in her face! You see these older smaller, brick homes are goldmines. If you tear off the roof you can add another floor. Instead of 2000 square feet you will have 3000 and that my friends, increases the value of your home by thousands!
My hubby and I said we would watch the debate tonight, if the two stellar candidates had shock collars on to shock them every time they told a lie! They could set up a fact check machine too. When they lie about the "truth" they are telling, they could be shocked again! But instead, I have to pray for our country as the disrespect toward the American taxpayer is truly despicable. I believe there is nothing a man or woman will do to change the destructive course we are headed on. I trust God, people fail you every single time.
RIP Arnold Palmer. Tomorrow I will go to a place and order your favorite drink, the Arnold Palmer, half ice tea, half lemonade. Do you know that was invented here in Denver, Colorado? Arnold was in town and walked up to the bar and ordered it.  Telling the bartender he wanted a half lemonade half ice tea drink! A woman overheard him order the drink and said that is sounded good and she would have a Palmer too! I love that story. I am not a golfer, our youngest Nick is, so enjoy those Arnold Palmer's in heaven from now on Mr. Palmer. You were amazing on the golf course.
RIP to a fine young man. Raised in Cuba and defecting to the USA with his phamily, he became a US citizen in 2015. My father would smile when I saw talent like this young man had. Taken too soon, tragically in a speed boat accident. The words speed and boat together frighten me! I am not an extreme sport enthusiast.  But my heart break for his phamily, what a tremendous loss.
A beautiful young man, leaving his phamily, a girlfriend and their unborn child behind. The MLB fans are the super classiest people you can find at social media. While the NFL has become something of a mini Washington D.C. with their political mud slinging, the MLB has come together and showed support of the Marlin's organization, the phamily of Jose Fernandez and have kept their comments respectful.
My dad , as many of you know, was a semi pro baseball player long before he and my mom dreamed of having me. My two oldest siblings were tiny little ones back then,  He taught me everything good about life. He taught me about sports, which, like him, I love dearly. But he would be so sad to see the mess our country is in and he would shake his head at the sadness and hatred running wild in our country. We do need to come together and it will not happen if our media isn't held accountable as well as our government . They have certainly not taken much of a stand and I do not remember this much racial tension prior to the past eight years. It is really sad and our country seems to be going backward rather than going forward.

My folks were good and godly people. They did not hate anyone nor have hatred in their hearts. They raised all of their five children with love and kindness and faith, something sadly lacking in our country today. Just my thoughts.
This pinterest find says it all best regarding our country in distress today.
There is more wisdom in the word of God, then the entire world.
