"X" Scrabble words

Come join the Alphabe Thursday fun with Ms. Jenny. I am not a great game player! My hubby and I play rummy and a few other card games but I use to love playing games when I was younger. Scrabble is one of those games so here are some Scrabble facts for you featuring the letter "X". There are approximately 317 words that can be used while playing Scrabble that feature the letter X. Here are some of those words:
addax          beaux           carex
ataxy           bemix           cimex
axion           boxer            coxal
axman          boxes           cylix

Words with a X in them don't score as many points as letters  Z and Q. X words are much easier to place on the board.

I thought you might enjoy a little info on this X-citing and X-cellent letter!

A Big Win For Blue Monday

Our son Nick suffering with shingles took 5th in the cross country meet on Friday. He is showing his medal off in the first photo and this second one shows several of the winners. Nick is on the right an to his left is Sean a team mate. The day was beautiful and the Trojan team won big! We were so proud.

Now hop over to Sally's and wish her well while you are browsing all the cool blues today.

Blogger is not allowing me to put up Martha's giveaway button.  I hope you will visit her soon and see some of the beautiful teacups she has "serial collected" through the years.

Love is....Jayden Alexander

This little Love is...could be Andrew and Tarrah. Except Andrew is fair and Tarrah has dark hair. I like to incorporate my Love is...with my Spiritual Sunday. I hope you will visit Marydon and Charlotte and thank these two precious ladies for sharing their time with us each week.
These two meme's are so beautiful, full of love and encouragement. If you don't already please come join us.
Now may I introduce you to Jayden Alexander. This beautiful boy debuted on September 12th after giving everyone quite a scare! They lost his heartbeat momentairly and two minutes later mama Tarrah was having a C-section to bring our sweet boy into our phamily.
He is perfect. Each tiny finger (long and elegant) and sweet little toes count from one to ten! Praise God! His eyes are blue. I hope he will keep them. He is a minature version of daddy. I could spend the rest of my life just holding him, kissing him and whispering  "I love you" to him! He is an extra bonus baby! I have grandsons, now I have a great grandson! I am  silly in love over him! I want to shout it out!
I found two perfect Scripture verses that define my life today.

"Grandchildren are the crown of old men and  the glory of son's is their fathers." Proverbs 17:6

"A gray head is a crown of glory: it is found in the way of righteousness." Proverbs 16:31

I had Nick at age 39. Often people ask if I am his grandmother. Absolutely no! I am the mama bear, he is always going to be my baby man cub!
Do I love being grandma? Yes! Do I love being grand grandma? Definetly! Do I love being a mom! Absolutely!
My life is defined. I am happily enjoying it all!

P I N K

This is Aurora over Greenland. It is a fun astronomy picture I found on a daily news paper.  I thought some of the pink would fit into Pink Saturday!

Then I thought how about a pretty bouquet of pink flowers?

Would you like some pink runnng shoes?
How about a girly girl in a pretty skirt featuring pink?

Carolina is my little friend. She is the daugher of Jason and Stephanie. Jason is Nick's cross country coach and mom and daughter never miss a meet. Carolina just turned 14 months old but this girl never stops until she crashes into bed at night! I tried to capture her pink running shoes but this girl is always on the go! Let me tell you, this girl is her daddy's daughter! He is a Carolina fan as that is his alma mater and his girly girl is living proof that you can love where you attended college! Stephanie always says she knew Carolina would run before she walked. This little energy bundle was at  the Broomfield meet where our Trojan boys tok 2nd place as a team and Nick came in 5th individually! He struggled on Thursday with a bout of the shingles causing him so much pain! His doc took a culture of the lesion on his lower side and said he thinks Nick has a new strain starting up!
Then he ran a 14 mile run with his team mates at 7 this morning while my hubby and I helped set up the pancake fundraiser we had at Applebees. My hat, which is pink, is tipped in honor of all those hard working food service people! That is a tough job! We are exhausted and needed to take a break.
So while I am posting later on Saturday I wanted to wish all of you a beautiufl weekend. Take the pretty first photo I posted and enjoy your day. Take te bouquet of gerbera daisies as a sign of my friendship for you. Take a walk or a run and stay healthy. Hug your loved ones and tip your pink hat for someone working hard for you today.

Stop by and tell our fearless hostess Beverly thank you for all her hard work keeping us all in the pink!

"W" is for Whoopie Pies!

I did not want to miss Alphabe Thursday. I am trying to turn over a clean slate and really watch my eating habits but who in their right mind could ever resist a yummy, gooey wonderfully delicious Whoopie Pie? Tonight I am going to share a recipe I have found that is a family favorite from a collection of recipes that I found.

Hope you like it! If you do share it with everyone you know and make sure you tell Ms. Jenny that I sent you over!

A Castle and A Meteor

Just a simple photo I found on my daily news featuring astronomy. This is a castle and a meteor. I thought the photo was beautifully done.
I am happy because our leader Sally was not doing well and she is getting healthier each day. Leaving the hospital was a great start! God is good and we have something to smile about!
Enjoy your Monday! I am hoping you will visit my previously post and meet three friends. It is amazing how you can find friendship here and know that you were meant to meet such marvelous ladies.

Friendship Sunday

I am sharing a friendship Sunday thought with all of you today. I wanted to incorporate my Love is... post with a Spiritual Sunday post. I hope you will all join Marydon and Charlotte with these weekly encouraging memes.

Today I met two of the most fun blogging friends Suzanne and LaVoice. I also had the privilege of meeting LVs sister Patsy who is Suzanne's mom! Oh My Goodness! These ladies were so wonderful and heart warming! We had planned to meet on Thursday but their plane was delayed due to weather! Now wouldn't you just know that would happen?! But I was just happy they were all safe snuggled in that  plane full of people! It was going to take a few more days to catch up with them but it was worth the wait.
Have you ever dreamed about anyone and then realize your dream was real? I did just that and these three ladies were more fun than I know how to have!
LV is just an honest lady with a big heart and she shared her quesadilla at lunch with myself and my oldest daughter Noelle.  She is such a sharp witted lady and shares her blog with us as if we were all old friends.
All three of my girls traveled with me to Castle Rock today to meet the ladies.
Suzanne is a delight! She is a warm and wonderful lady with so many talents. Her blog is filled with vintage and her sweet three doxies. Her mom Patsy! Oh My Goodness! She was just a warm and friendly lady that you knew you wanted to get to know better! She has a blog but has not kept it up. We might have to try to change her mind!
The waitress and than another customer took a few photo ops for us in the restaurant and then outside my daughters shot some candid photos too!
I must tell you, you might have figured that I am chatty!  I tend to be long winded and I wanted to say so many things to these ladies that LV commented that I had enough words for all of us! LOL! It was a compliment.
It is interesting how the Lord ties our hearts together. I had been listening to a program featuring Patsy Clairmont . She is a favorite Christian speaker and she uses a lot of words. I tend to be like her and I think she is a pretty terrific role model!
So today please join me in saying a little pray for the safe travels for my once  bloggy and now real friends Suzanne, LV and Patsy. Friendship is a wonderful thing.
From right to left, my daughters Noelle and Rebekah, Patsy, LV, Suzanne, my daughter Hannah and me!

 Myself with LV and Suzanne.

The End of the Summer Flowers

Today I saw some flowers, looking pretty but warning me that summer is leaving and the cooler weather is ushering in Autumn! I want to share the flowers with some pretty pinks dotting the bunch! Please visit Beverly and thank her for hosting us here each week. You should visit Connie too. She was featured at Pink Saturday and she has been downsizing and has a great giveaway! Tell her I sent you over!
I took this shot at a street corner heading over to the Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational. The police had the intersection closed temporarily and we were behind a school bus from Poudre Valley. We made it to the meet on time and Nick took 34th out of a field of 153 runners. Considering he was struggling with this nasty shingles he is doing so well. Their team took 7th overall! It was a grand day and the weather was perfect.
Enjoy the weekend.

V is for Very Upside Down Day!

Today was an upside down day! Very trying. Very frustrating. Very annoying! Very little fun! :(

Today I was going to meet Suzanne and her mom Patsy and her aunt LaVoice. They were traveling to Colorado from Texas and their plane was delayed because of weather! Darn rain! After a very wet Spring and a very hot summer here comes the soggy fall! I am just glad they are safe.
We were going to meet for lunch at a cool place called  www.oscrestaurant.com/. Then the ladies finally got settled after a long, hard day sitting on the plane. We decided to meet at the restaurant Sunday. Very disappointing! It is closed on Sunday.! Argh......
So I am trying to find a new and excited place to meet! Ah....
I hope it all comes together. I was cruising down the highway this early afternoon when I go the call from Suzanne! I had a very funny feeling they would be held up on the plane, in the airport and the by the time they got organized and settled in it would be too late for lunch.
But I am hopeful will we meet up and enjoy a leisure brunch or lunch Sunday!
I am always eager to hear from other bloggers in Colorado and if you have a favorite place to take out of town guests please share!
Now join Ms. Jenny for the variety of variables with the letter "V"!

Love is....Babies on a Blue Monday

Yesterday when  trying to post my Love is....it would not work! The images would not post and nothing seemed to go right! Tonight as I tried to remain calm after "baby drama" scares I went blog hopping only to find that the comment section would kick me out and then log off my own blog! Blogger learn to play nice! Please!

To participate late with Sally I want to share this astronomy photo I found on a  news site that shares  some of my Love is...on. Years ago, Love is.. was published in the daily newspaper. Most folks get their news on line. I like the old fashioned newspaper! I will talk about that later!
I just thought this pretty blue filled space was gorgeous and had to be shared. Visit Sally as she is our leader for the Blue Monday post and she is recovering nicely from a tough time with her health. Thanks Sally! You are a real gem!
Marydon helps us celebrate Love is... each week. Visit her and all the participates of Love is... Marydon is a doll for sharing her time and wonderful posts with us.
This Love is.. is so appropriate for my phamily this week! I thought this fit the bill perfectly. So I want to dedicate this little post to Mia Rose the daughter of my nephw Josh and his wife Kathryn in Chicago. I previously posted about them and Kathryn was hospitalized Thursday evening and this little miss made her debut yesterday! It was a wild ride cause this girl was being stubborn! She was not interested in making her debut any time soon! Glad to report she is healthy and happy and weighed 8 lbs.! She is gorgeous. She is a 9-11 baby and her grandpa in NYC is a retired NYPD officer!
Jayden Alexander is the first born son of Andrew and Tarrah. Andrew is my grandson. Jayden weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and he was 22 inches long! They had a scare because they lost his heartbeat and did an emergency C-section. But currently mom and baby are fine.
I am very blessed. My phamily is growing and I think a new baby is a wonderful example of God's love. I will get some photos up soon.

Secret Pal Swap and The Truck Event!

My secret pal sent me the cutest card! She asked me to ask her questions here so she can answer them in the next note! I will post the card soon! Too tied from fighting blogger!
OK....I sent lots of folks this question list and asked them to fill it out and return it to me. Anyone who would like to share this with me along with your address and such please e mail me.
I am known to send cards to people "just because". I really love the Secret Pal Swap and here list of questions I asked:

1. Favorite color
2. Favorite food
3. Favorite decorating style
4. Birth month and date
5. Car you drive
6. Favorite read(s)
7. Coffee or tea
8. Favorite thing aobut yourself
9. Favorite Season
10. Favorite holiday
11. Favorite vacation spot
12. Where were you born
13. Who would you meet (living or deceased) if you could
14. Favorite music

Do you have a favorite quote? I know secret swap pal that you love Grover from Sesame Street ! I think that is cool! He is certainly very blue! I always liked Animal and I have a little drum solo to share with you courtesy of Animal! I am not an in the box kinda gal and neither is Animal!

Now here is something I am doing for fun! We went to the Truck event tonight. What is that you say? Well, it is a food fest! All sorts of different trucks are parked in a common area and they sell the most amazing food! Meat on a Stick, cupcakes, ice cream, beer, wine, margarita's, pinche tacos, New York style pizza slices, Venezuelan food, biscuits stuffed with cordon bleu and other yummy things and chili cheese fries! People walk around in all sorts of silly hats (which no one told me or I would have woren a hat!) and there is a girl with colorful hair on stilts! Drat! I did not get her photo! I took a shot of the cupcakes, lemon, snowball, and red velvet. We all shared the pistachio cupcake. They are super rich although not very big but we all had a bite! Yum!

OK blogger is truly weird. Having spent an hour trying to load a few photos is crazy! Now it is duplicating them! Argh....
The two pups were cute at the Truck Event! Fred in the blue looked sad as the little girl (in pink) found a fried tortilla on the ground and was eating it with great delight! The Red Lotus was parked next to us last Friday at the cross country meet! Waneka Lake is where Nick ran today. Placed 34thnot  bad for a guy who was sick last week with shingles! His immune system is weak so we need to get him into shape! But he ran hard and we were proud! Haven't attempted to load those photos yet! The cupcakes were from the Truck Event. A snowball (chocolate with almond and coconut), lemony and red velvet, my personal favorite! The Cupcake Truck where we bought these amazing cupcakes. The guy with the tin foil Viking hat just happened into my photo! Crazy hats I tell you!
So I have shared some of me with all of you! Now Secret Pal, I know you can't send me your address now but please answer my questions.
No babies yet tonight! My SIL says Kathryn has a midwife! I am gonna be real honest here. After laboring since 5:30 P.M. Thursday evening let me tell you, they better have some super doctor who studied at Harvard Medical School because I would be climbing the walls, kicking some Bruce Lee butt and yelling like a maniac from the psych ward! "Give me drugs, lots of 'em!" Having a baby is no time to show everyone that you are saintly or think of Mother Teresa as your personal role model!!
Tarrah is just miserable! If she would drink some warm water with lemon juice or a shot of balsamic vinegar I can guarantee that baby would come forth! Hopefully the doctor will be a former NFL receiver cause drinking those concoctions tend to shot babies across the room!
Please pray. God has His hand in every aspect of our lives. If we want Him to.

Pink Saturday: A 9-11 Remembrance, Spiritual Sunday: A Message from Our Father

I wanted to share some spectacular photos I borrowed from a daily news that features astronomy. I call the first photo a pink wavy space scene but the second photo is a pink milky way band. I wanted to continue my pink post with Beverly but I also wanted to remember the 9-11 survivors and the families of all who lost their lives.
I wanted to share a poem, I thought it very appropriate for 9-11 in remembrance of all the fallen and a glimpse into heaven for all that survived. One day we can all join together on God's shore and experience happiness and such an incredible peace. It is a beautiful thought to think while revisiting the ten year anniversary of such a terrible loss of life. But currently I am still waiting for the authors permission to use the poem.
Never forget and pray for those who lost loved ones, those that survived and all the firefighters, the police and our military and protectors and all who helped in the efforts after 9-11-2001.
I hope you will visit Charlotte and Ginger because they do an amazing job getting us all together for Spiritual Sunday each week. This is a wonderful encouragement and with the anniversary of 9-11 falling on Sunday this year I think it is good to tie Pink Saturday and Spiritual Sunday together.
Please read Psalm 91 and you will have a vivid picture of Our Heavenly Father.
This song says it all. Thanks for joining me today.
Nick ran his first cross country race today. Out of 26 schools with at least a 7 man team he took 34th. Not bad for a kid coming off shingles last weekend. Pray hard for him because he still has some healing to do.
It is a weekend for new life. My grandson Andrew and Tarrah are waiting for the birth of their first child, a boy, as we speak here in Denver as well as my nephew Josh and his wife Kathryn who has already endured 36 hours of induced labor in Chicago waiting for their first child, a girl, to be born. More prayers please. They were both due on the same day and are a few days early! Hurry babies, hurry!

"U" Is For Unique

The definition of unique being the only one of it's kind. So today I decided to use the word unique to fit in with the Alphabe Thursday post featuring the letter "U".
What is unique? Each individual person born is a unique one of a kind creature. Made without being copied or duplicated or triplicated. Each individual life is unique. No one else will have your finger print for instance. They will not have your unique individual personality. Each person will have different eyes, a nose and physical characteristics like no one else! You may look like a family member but you will have an appearance that can not be duplicated.
How many unique things do you see each day?

I just wanted to share this poem with you as I feel it ties into this post nicely.
Humanity
by Elma Stuckey

If I am blind and need someone
To keep me safe from harm,
It matters not the race to me
Of the one who takes my arm.
If I am saved from drowning
As I grasp and grope,
I will not stop to see the face
Of the one who throws the rope.
Or if out on some battlefield
I’m falling faint and weak,
The one who gently lifts me up
May any language speak.
We sip the water clear and cool,
No matter the hand that gives it.
A life that’s lived worthwhile and fine,
What matters the one who lives it?

Now please visit Jenny and all the participates of Alphabe Thursday today.

Love is....right here! Blue Monday

Here is a beautiful crescent moon for your Blue Monday pleasure. Hop over to Sally's place and wish her well. She is recovering from a long illness. We love you Sally and we missed you although you had a great backup grand helping keep the meme fun and inspiring! Love to you both!

Hee Hee! This is my Sweets and me for most of our married  years! If it is not one thing, it is another! Always something coming up! But we got soul! We have great love for each other and more importantly than all of it we have faith! Now come visit Marydon and all the great ladies of the Love is.. persuasion.

"It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,  And it's inhabitant are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isaiah 40:22

Pinky Plums for Fall and a More Beautiful You video to share

I just bought a new tub of lipstick. Occasionally my Avon lady friend has some special prices I can not pass up so today I ordered a tube of Divine Plum lip color. I rarely use much make up in the summer heat but as the temps cool down I go into a different direction. So stop by Avon and check out the pretty Divine Plum and see some of the pretty lip color images I found for you.
I think we all deserve to look pretty but I do not buy into the ways of this world and the magazines and fashions that stress being anorexic thin! So for my Spiritual Sunday post I want to share a beautiful video with you. I am showing the video that shows facts about young girls today. Only 2% of girls think they are beautiful.  One quarter of 14 year old girls have considered plastic surgery. The average woman spends 2 1/2 years of her life styling her hair. Three minutes after reading a magazine a girl feels bad about herself. An average girl starts dieting at age 8. Young girls are more afraid of being fat than they are of losing their parents, nuclear war or getting cancer. 4 out of 10 girls agree with domestic violence if a girl dresses outrageously. But there is a bright side. God is always in control. He is always watching and caring for each one of us. Although the video shows many beautiful bible verses we all need to share with young girls today these are two I shared with my own three daughters.

"God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

" I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb."  Jeremiah 1:5

Proverbs 31:3 "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Will you please visit Beverly and thank her for her weekly Pink Saturday leadership. Then visit some pinkies and head over to Charlotte and Ginger's and thank them for sharing their heart with us each week. Visit lots of SpiritualSunday participates too.

Quick Cross Country request! Nick had his first cc meet today. But the thunder, lightening and brief rain showers came with it. The meet was cancelled after a gentleman was struck by lightening standing under a tree! Some of the kids were taking pieces of the burned bark with them! Say a prayer for this unknown gentleman. Nick had some stomach/muscle pain so pray he can run tomorrow The coach had planned for him to run hard today and relax tomorrow but now he has more pressure because  although 38 schools were represented today more will be at the meet tomorrow and there are several runners who compete really hard with Nick! Pray for all please.
