11. The National Western Stock Show, held in Denver, is the largest stock show in the world. The National Western Rodeo is also one of the biggest rodeos on earth.

I think these places have zero class and most of the folks supporting them are unemployed and using government tax dollars to buy their stash!  Do you really believe that if this was a cure all the government would not already have patented it and raked in the money for their own pockets? Let's not forget the small child who perished in a house fire after ingesting the stuff. His parents, sitting on government aid. A sad fact and a sad world.

Love is.../Blue Monday

Ah, this is the good stuff! I know I have told you before, but I have always loved Love is.... by the late Kim Casali and written and drawn by Bill Asprey. When I was dating my hubby and later when we were married and "newlyweds" I would cut these out of the daily newspaper and give them to him. Later on I pasted them on little scraps of construction paper and we still have them, all of them! This one is especially sweet for me! I love dancing and when I met my honey we danced up a storm! He didn't seem to enjoy as much as me these days but last weekend we stayed up way too late listening to oldies. We went to bed after 1:30 in the morning and that is  a record for us these days! We listened to lots of great oldies like the Bee Gees, Bread with David Gates and Gordon Lightfoot. My dream is to take some professional dance lessons with my honey but I am having trouble moving him in that direction! Laugh out loud! Our middle daughter loves country dancing and she is quite good. We plan to surprise her and go watch her dance on her birthday! She has met some wonderful dance partners and is as excited as a small child learning lots of new moves on the dance floor!
What a great thought! I believe we all need to be told we are awesome! It makes you feel good to hear something like this! I have another beautiful thought and it hangs in our Master bathroom. It says "Be your own kind of wonderful!" Do you know the song "Some Kind of Wonderful"?  A few years ago my oldest daughter gave me a musical birthday card that plays that song! Sometime I just need a lift so I listen to it! I love that card and that song!
Oh this verse from Scripture has given me comfort and peace many many times. It is beautiful in blue.
There are days that are not great and there are days that are awful!  These words have made me feel better many days. Instead of feeling blue!

Now please visit Marydon at Face Book (MD Middaugh) and share some Love is...favorites with her there. Then hop over to Sally's and share your favorite blues!

Flag Day/ Father's Day/Blue Monday/Love Is...

June 14, 2014 Flag Day. Did you hang your flag outside ?
I do most everyday except when high winds or terrible weather looms. There is an auto repair shop near my home. He never takes that flag down and it is ragged and worn. I think he should remove it every evening and hang it up fresh each day.
Some quotes to ponder.

June 15, 2014: Father's Day. I miss my own father terribly during this weekend. He always loved the simple gifts we gave him because he loved cologne and we always bought him the latest favorites and when I close my eyes, I can remember all his favorite scents. I bought my hubby a new scent because, like my father, he likes good cologne too.
A favorite quote by a wonderful Major League baseball player:

We have too many people trying to control our children in our society. We need two parents to raise them. If that is impossible than one good parent will often be able to get the job done. Children need to learn from good role models. They should be trained up by a parent or parents who follow simple parenting:
If you don't believe this, look at the condition of society. Look at the broken children, with demons instead of role models. Such a sadness. So many broken children, eating disorders, drug abuse, violence. We have to love our children but we also have to teach them respect:

I hope you came over to share your favorite Love is....
Love is a beautiful thing. Sharing it with someone you love is even better. Having a house full of love makes your life perfect.

Now I hope you are searching for lots of blues here today. Here is a Father's Day 2014 photo of my silly phamily. It was so hot today that I slipped into old "house only" shorts and never changed them when we started too take photos. I am usually very better at color coordination! LOL! I just love taking phamily shots. Makes me smile and we enjoyed a beautiful Father's Day.  My birthday twin Julie Tucker-Wolek  shares a phoot of herself with her two kids each month. It is in honor of Aleida, her friend who passed away in a car accident way too soon and left her children with a photo of two of of them together. Julie honors her friend each month by taking photos. I love it and started a phamily holiday photo. But I think I am going to joy Julie and do the monthly photos. After all I am not getting any younger and having those memories from my own childhood make me smile. I can not find a photo of myself alone with my dad. Sad but I do have lots of other ones. I am in the process of  sorting through years of photos. Eventually I will have it all organized.

The hubby and I shared a nice Texas Roadhouse lunch and I made him a homemade chocolate pie. His sister use to make those boxed pudding pies and they aren't very good for you so I went  away from the box and  made it from scratch. Except the pie crust. I could never make one that is not as hard as a rock. I blame the high altitude. The kids made chicken fajitas for dinner and the weather was perfect.

Visit Sally and share some blues today.

"D" is for Dancing

Ah dancing! I love it! Always have, always will! When I was much younger I use to dance c/w. A good friend of mine, who was a fireman, was an excellent country western dancer and we often went out to dance together. Lots of wonderful memories. Now our middle daughter, Rebekah loves to dance and she goes out a few times a week, strictly to dance. She also goes to a country western dance club. I am going to get some photos of her dancing and share them soon.
This is my dancing girl with her younger brother Nick. She has a birthday today. She is 26 years old. This girl graduated in 2013 from Metro State University. She has a degree in Literature and also holds a teaching certificate. Recently she has been working at an insurance company where two of her other siblings work. We are hopeful she will get on full time. Teaching jobs are very scarce and she has so much potential and so much to offer! She has worked temporarily and has done a terrific job.  She is one of those people that has a bucket list. Her list has some really terrific things listed that she hopes to do. Traveling to Ireland is one of them. She has a kind heart and when she sets her mind to something she follows through.
She is a tiny girl and her baby sister Hannah is taller than she is! We were hoping to watch her dance tonight at a country western club that she goes to. Tomorrow we will celebrate with a barbeque and lots of phamily and friends. I will share her cake tomorrow.

A country western dance couple.

Boots needed to do some fancy footwork!
Lots of country dance moves, Two Stepping, the Country Waltz and Country Swing!

Do you know George Strait? He is such a dreamboat! Sigh! But his song "Easy Come, Easy Go" is one of those c/w songs that you can do a Country Cha Cha to. It is a slower song but very beautiful although it is a sad song about a break up. Some other great dancing songs are "Orange Blossom Special" and  "Ghosts Riders in the Sky" .
Country dancing lots of good memories for me. My grandmother's neighbor Matt was widowed when his wife passed away in childbirth many, many years ago. When Matt got up there in years my sister Mary would clean his house. He would share with her that he went country western dancing a few times a week. He was a great dancer and I always have fond memories of Matt dipping and swinging his partner about!
The Grizzly Rose is one of those dance clubs in Denver. Every Sunday afternoon they have phamily night and you can get some country western dance lessons there. Our former babysitter Heather met her husband there. They are happily married with five little boys last time I counted!
Here is the dance floor at the Electric Cowboy in Westminster, Colorado.

Now dance over to Ms. Jenny's and share your favorite "D" today.

Love is.../Blue Monday

Love is...
the sun shining brightly even on a rainy day!

We have had rain today! It rained, it poured, it was cold and messy and miserable. So after a delightful lunch at a favorite Mexican restaurant where my honey and I shared a fried ice cream for dessert we headed home and relaxed. Visit Marydon  at Face Book where she often posts her favorite Love is...for us to share. This little Love is...couple also have their blue jeans on here. They fit into Blue Monday perfectly.
The grandson's 18th birthday yesterday! My honey and I wearing our favorite Cowley Track and Field t shirts and our blue jeans.  Colton wearing a blue shirt. The day was cooler,in the 60s but the barbeque my daughter and her husband had was great, as always, and we visited late into the evening with phamily and friends.
My son-in-law and grandson wearing blue. But all three of them have blue eyes!
Siblings, Christal and Colton wearing blue. Andrew smiling and showing off us his new tatoo!
Nick, wearing his favorite Kobe shirt, with Kobe in blue and Colton. Uncle and nephew and buddies.

Colton and Jessica, they are a cute couple. His birthday turned out wonderfully. My son-in-law dug a small hole in the backyard and built an open fire. We ate S'mores from it and the evening was lots of fun. My daughter Noelle is always a terrific hostess. The only sad note from the party yesterday was that we watched the Belmont only to see California Chrome get boxed in and lose. I still love that horse. He has the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness wins. I do agree with his owner that only horses who competed in the other two races should qualify to run in the third race. All in all Chrome is a beautiful horse and I wish him well with his foot injury.
Yesterday I shared a google image of a Dexter cake and promised to show everyone Colton's true cake. The bakery did a nice job and even the hypodermic needle was authentic although covered in frosting! I was not an avid fan of the show as my kids were but I have to admit Dexter only finished off incredibly bad people! I miss the whole phamily being at the house on Sunday evening watching this series. We use to cook a big meal and then they would watch their series while my honey and I watched comedy together! Next week I will have to share Rebekah's cake. We are hoping for good weather

Visit Sally and the Blue Crew. Enjoy your week.
