Feline Friday and More

 

This C A T sits in front of the water bowl and meows at it! He rarely likes a drink if anyone is watching.  Why he is so stubborn is beyond my knowledge. He is treated like a king, butting in making himself comfortable even when I am uncomfortable. He has become very brazen too. Last night he thought he would change up his routine and sleep on Avery's legs. Well, it was not a good outlook for either one of them! He met his match with my husband and my husband with him.  I hope you visit Feline Friday

I found this ultra cool 1950's car in pink on an email a friend sent me. Man oh man, I would love to have a cool car like this::

I  love this verse. Here is a photo I took of the sun rising today.

The sunrise was lovely this morning, but it is hard to see much of it as there are so many trees in my neighborhood. Ancient  5o plus year old trees. None the less it is a pretty sunrise.

Here is our new t shirt that we wanted to match but the Men's shirt did not come in heathered green only grey. That is ok, we love these shirts and have received so many compliments already.

HAPPY TUESDAY and WORDLESS WEDNESDAY FACES PLUS MORE

 A belated Happy Tuesday and a Wordless Wednesday.

As I was getting ready to heat my leftover SW Quiche and Ham and CoJack quiche, Colton text me. "Grandmother let's go to Denny's for the $6.99 all you can eat breakfast, cheesy eggs, hash brown and pancakes.  Away we went! Ariel was our server. She was a bright and cheerful young lady. Took excellent care of us. I love to give a shout out to all those who hit the pavement running each and every day and go to work at jobs that many times feel thankless.

I will never forget a friend, Tonya, telling us how when they traveled by RV and home schooled their four kids.  She and her husband made the kid stack all the dirty dishes at the restaurant table when they had a special treat and went out to breakfast, lunch or dinner. I remember a "horrified: person she knew ask her, why would you do such a thing? That's what "those" people get paid for! Yep, some of us are cool and do our part to help an overtired server get through the day. Then there are the complainers, the chronic crybabies! I think if people outside your home upset you so much, just cook at home and be happy. It sure would help the rest of us stay happy! That is not to say most of us have experienced bad service, cold food or just plain rudeness. Take it with a grain of salt and complain to the company. I just try to add some happiness to someone's day.

While waiting for Harry to use the restroom, I met the sweetest lady. She was waiting on her three grand girls using the ladies room. She said to me that she loved my dress, a la Minnie Mouse and the golden days of LuLaRoe when they sold Disney designs. I said I equally loved her Minnie leggings. We chatted for a few minutes. She told me she was in the military US Army) and her former spouse (USAF). I thanked her for her service and her former spouse too.  We chatted about LuLaRoe and then all four of the kids came out of the restrooms. Sometime you have a bond with a complete stranger and it makes me realize Anne Frank was right. She believed there was some good in all people.

Thankful Thursday

I found a t shirt at etsy that I loved. So I ordered it and I had talked about it to Avery. So when it arrived, a few days before his birthday (July 23) he said it that t shirt for me? I said no, you didn't say you wanted one! So I got in touch with the gal and she shipped one out for him too.  Here is a picture of us wearing our new shirts:

You know I posted this photo twice.  I don't think it came through here the first time I tried. 

Pink Saturday

Snoopy always makes me smile. For our birthdays, my sister-in-law, is an early bird for my December birthday, gave us matching Snoopy t shirts. They are so cute. I will get a photo and post it soon. I started two similar posts so I just put them both up. It has been another wild and crazy week at our house.

We are both vintage these days and finally Avery caught up with me. He is in the 6-8 club. It was a wonderful day.

We shared lots of memories and phamily time today. Everyone but Hannah and Jake celebrated at the Olive Garden with us.

We had a pie birthday party at home later in the day. All in all it was so good to be with those we love.

My dad and Avery shared the same birthday July 23. There is never a day that goes by that I don't miss my dad. He was my favorite baseball guy. He is in his heavenly home and that gives me great comfort.

Fourth of July Then & Now

 

Lots of past and present fourth of July photos. we retired early so we did not see many fireworks. Our city did not have them but Thornton did and our kids said they were wonderful. They saw the paratroopers coming out of the sky and the show began quite last last night. Top left Benjamin, top right Shea and Blake. Bottom left Harrison and Psalm 33:12

Rebekah's traditional Sharon's Trifle in memory of my dear friend Sharon Ann Hayes. This was her recipe and you never, ever count the calories.  Rebekah  made it last summer for the 4th and yesterday too. That is the front porch bench Jake, Hannah and my sweet husband refurbished. It is so lovely. A capture of some fireworks.

Nick sent me this fireworks photos as I was drifting off to sleep last night. 

I snapped these between my neighbors houses across the street last night. Although fireworks are illegal, many people buy the bigger displays in Wyoming and shoot them off. It is ridiculous the laws they have come to enforce. Our city is shameful. No fireworks display, and they barely hung up a few American flags. I am saddened by the people on my block who do not love America. My neighbor Carleen and I are the only two who still fly our flags proudly. People do not realize, once all your freedoms are removed, you will never get them back. 

The ages of our founding fathers in 1776:

This weekend made me think of all the American and World History I learned throughout my school years. The signers of the Declaration of Independence and the ages of the founding fathers in 1776. Made me proud of where I am and what I came from.

I am proud of my heritage, my country and my life. I know others I know from around our world feel the same way about their country. We all enjoy being free and living life to the very best of our ability. 

A shoeless tiny American patriot. Enjoying a birthday cupcake. After he ate his cupcake he asked his mom if he could have another, she said no, not right now. So he asked the "boss" Grandpa! But even grandpa is wise to this child tactic, so our little one knew he was not getting a second cupcake when Grandpa asked mommy. You have to give him an A for effort!

Many thanks to all of you who stop by. I will be coming around.  It will be hard for me to send my sweet husband back to work on Monday next week. Although we need to tackle our garage, we did get many projects done. 

Here is the finished product, the refurbished bench. Hannah, Jake and Avery sanded and repainted it, took it apart and made it fresh again. We love this bench. Zach, our son-in-law brought it home when his twin and her husband and phamily moved back to Michigan.I like to sit on the bench in the evening waiting for Avery to come home from work when the weather is nice. The grandboys like it too, watching for their parents to return from errands. 

Thank you all who stop by. I appreciate everyone here and will be getting some comments answers soon. It was a busy two weeks here. Our grandson Colton and Jacey bought their first home. Roger came home from the hospital. Hannah and Jake arrived for a long visit and I spent a few days feeling poorly weith a sinus infection. I was seen at an urgent care and received an anti biotic. Now I will be able to follow up with Avery's doctor. She is a real gem with a kind and caring demeanor. I am very happy about this.

Thankful Thursday and Fill In's

 Thankful Thursday I am thankful for all the folks who have stuck by me and also my loved ones as we have battled these health issues which have been very serious with both Nick our son and Roger our son-in-law. Nick is getting along well and will continue to see his specialist but he would like to return to the workplace. Roger is fighting a difficult battle but we take it one step at a time and trust in God as He has the forever plan for us.

Roger came through the brain mass surgery. He and his neurosurgeon made a good team. Roger is a fighter so it was good to see him come out of that. He has a bigger battle with his liver but as they come up with a plan for him I will keep everyone posted. Thankful.

Our Colorado Avalanche won game 4. We were so happy! They head back home for games 5 and 6. If they win Friday at home they will win the Stanley Cup. It has been a long time coming. Both teams are excellent as they would not be there if that was not the case.  Thankful for that overtime win!

Our Colorado Rockies were not so fortunate. They lost the last two games with the Marlins so we still root for our home team but we don't like to see them lose. Thankful for baseball as it still is the happiest sporting event for me since my  before I was born. That was a long time ago.

A cup of Friendship tea for you and me. Coffee if you prefer it.  A special thank you to  Mimi for sharing the pink eye remedy of Collolial Silver. We use this all the time. Last winter we never had nasty colds or flu and in the case of Avery, my sweetheart never had a severe asthma or bronchitis attack. Mimi said I could use it as a drop for my pink eye. Took my first dose tonight via the eye dropper. I will use this method as I know it has some excellent properties to help heal. Although this one stings a bit, 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar and  1 cup warm water works too and apply with a cotton ball.  You can boil Himalayan Pink Salt with water and cool it so you can dip a washcloth in it and rest it on your infected  eye. So very thankful.

 I won't go into detail but when doctors start to lose their compassion they should find another line of work. They should take their copy of the Hippocratic Oath and toss it in the trash can.

TUESDAY THOUGHTS ON WEDESDAY

 Tuesday4 Ahhh....that blogger is a real bugger! I could not resist stopping by. Thank you for all you do here and I enjoy this tremendously.

welcome back to the "I refuse to auto post" Tuesday4 by Toni Taddeo is enhanced by complications from blogger. 

Yes folks it did it again. But better late than never, as some say, so here we go with this week's questions. I hope you enjoy them. 

1. Do you have a set bedtime that you stick to?

Yes I do! That  sweetheart of mine, Avery had to be up between  5 A.M.  and 5:15 A.M. to get ready and out the door to work. So we ususally hit the sack between 9:00 and 10:00. I have not slept well lately, with all that is going on health with with those I love. But I noticed God waking me at 2:30 for several nights to pray some more, so I obilige Him.

2. What kind of sleep attire do you prefer and why is that?

I was raised to be very modest. I am not an exibitionist but as I grow older I feel like our bedrooms  rules are more relaxed. I have a cute tank pink top I like to wear. It says "Coffee then Conquer" although we will talk about tea versus coffee shortly. I am a "PJ" fanatic so I have it all, short sets in the summer, nightshirts or long legged pj pants in the winter. I have a huge collection of pajamas and nightshirts. I have always loved them, always will. 

Aside from cute tank tops in the warm months I also love Minky blankets. There was a time I participted in their MC Hugs program where I saved $20 each month and then could spend it anyway I want when I want. The Urban Vanz Grande blanket in lavender was what Avery & I wanted for our bed. So with all my hugs I Paid tax in the amount of $15.88 for this soft and "you help us sleep better " cool blanky (as our grandson Blake calls his collection of Minky blankets). He will say don't take my Minky, that's mine! hahaha

3. Do you have a  night time routine before bed? Wash...Brush teeth...Snack?

I never sleep without brushing my teeth before bedtime. I also wash my face. Since I have pink eye since last night, I have a stack of washcloths so I can wash and toss in the laundry. No use trying to spread these cootie germs to my honey! We try to cut out snacks after 8 o'clock although I have been known to not eat a good dinner and have a bowl of cereal (Cheerios, Rice Chex, Rice Krispies) like I did as a child. My mom would buy our milk and other dairy products from  a local dairy, and the milkman always had fresh cream he brought to our house. Mom would splash a bit on my night time cereal. We often talk about our day and wind down. We pray together some nights and other nights we pray as the lights go off. It is a lifelong ritual I had even as a child and my sweetheart too. 

4. Quilts? Coverlets? Fluffy comforters? Woolen blankets? What do you need to sleep comfortably?

I talked about our Minky blankets and we love them the best. In the wintertime we have a heated blanket too. But the top sheet and minky with our soft comfy comforter usually makes us comfortable. I know some folks like the weighted balankets, we never tried them. My husband is my comfort if I am anxious or nervous. He rubs my arms like my grandmother did when I was a kid and my back too. He is my joyful person always.

My Happy Tuesday Thougths were of all of you who continue to support me and my phamily. Thanks for all your beautiful words, prayers and thoughts. The surgery will be four hours long. I am continuing to pray. I also request prayer for my friend Cindy. I wish I could be with her today at the celebration of life for her husband Rick. He was a bowling buddy and he asked me to introduce him to Cindy. That was long ago and they were married over 38 years. Rick was 66 when he passed away June 15 2022 leaving Cindy and their two daughters and their families. Rick was a stand up guy. Good hearted and kind. I have so many wonderful memories they are helping me get through all the sadness  I also ask for prayer for Hannah's dear friend Nicole. in her early thirties, slim and healthy until she was struck with back to back strokes the past two weeks. The doctors have no good answers for her. I hope she seeks another opinion. If you ever have had a doctor say to you, trust me on this one, eat a salad, excercise more, blah blah blah ,,,,you will wonder why a beautiful young woman was struck down like this and the medical profession today has no good answers. Please pray for Nicole and her son. Thank you. 

Wordless Wednesday If I were ever wordless on Wednesday it would be because God set that guard over my mouth that I often pray about.

Continue to pray for Roger as he was in recovery. Pray for Nicole that she will get real truth and answers for her dual strokes in two days in a row. 

Pray for Cindy and her daughters and their children and spouses as they manuveur loss with their husband, dad, grandpa, father-in-law.
