BASEBALL IS BACK

Even Love is...loves baseball! It is good to see baseball back! Our Colorado Rockies don't look too bad! First game, opening season, in Florida with the Marlins was Thursday, March 28th. They won it! They won the second game as well. But the other two games, not so great. Oh well, lots more to play.
Wouldn't be baseball season without sharing my dad. He was so young and handsome in his baseball uniform. I would love to sit down and share a game with him today.
I love going to the ballpark. But as a child, we walked to the Runyon Field ball park from my grandmothers home just a quick walk across the road.
Runyon Field looks different from my childhood. The fence around it was different and when Uncle Louie was busy with a project he would send us to Runyon Field and tell us to find baseballs that went out of the complex. He'd give us money when we collected those baseballs but he also let us keep them. We loved playing baseball in those days.Things have changed at Runyon Field but my love of baseball has not.
I have talked about my dad catching behind the plate when the great Bambino, the Sultan of Swat, the Babe was up to bat. After some research I found out the year was 1938. My dad was in his 20's. This is a google image of the Babe. He sure looks different from the bulked up players of today and he did not make the type of money these players demand today. Very few could play in the days of greats like the Babe, Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio and even Pete Rose and Dave Winfield.  I know Rich "Goose" Gossage would say most pitchers could not keep up with the likes of guys like like Ron Guidry, Noland Ryan  and Catfish Hunter.
I love this verse and really am standing on it today.
Another great : Harmon Killebrew. This is my second favorite baseball quote.
Joltin Joe DiMaggio, The Yankee Clipper. First class human being, excellent gentleman. First rate ball player who was blessed not only to play in the majors but had two brothers who also played.

This quote is one I think about all winter long. I am glad baseball is back. Hope the days will  be filled with sunshine and blue skies.

 Welcome back Rockies.
Maxine always has something to say on every subject. She is very naughty today!

Please visit Feline Friday Mr. Cat is loving baseball today. what's not to love? The Rockie's open their home season today at 2:10 P.M. (DST).

My goodness, your Dad was very handsome in his uniform. I love the pictures of the old baseball stars. They don't make them like that anymore. I'm glad it's Spring and Baseball season again! You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

My hubby loves the Red Sox, but isn't watching as much this season because they stink.

I am sitting here watching my Braves right now. They had a rough start with the Phillies but have come back home and done pretty good. I enjoy it so much. Love seeing your Dad and hearing about him. Enjoy your evening dear friend. Hugs

I'm a baseball fan and it's my favorite big league sport. Long, long time Yankees fan. Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig are my favorite Yankees of the past and Mr. DiMaggio and I share the same podiatrist. :)
