Hot Mustard Sauce

Chinese Hot Mustard is one of those condiments that you don’t think of making at home yourself, but the recipe is so quick and easy to prepare.
Chinese Hot Mustard,

  • Mix the dry ingredients together in a small bowl until evenly combined. Add water and stir well until a liquid paste forms and all dry ingredients are absorbed. Next, add oil and vinegar and stir well until evenly combined.
  • Let your Chinese hot mustard rest for 10 minutes covered, and re-stir to ensure the dry ingredients have fully absorbed. At this point, taste your Chinese Hot Mustard and adjust it to your own preferences.
  • Add a little more water or oil if you like a thinner in consistency. Add more vinegar if you like it a tad tart. Omit the vinegar altogether if you like it spicier, since vinegar makes your mustard a bit mellower in flavor. Add more white pepper and/or mustard powder if you like it spicier.

NOTE: Since Chinese mustard is so easy to make, we like to make in small amounts to have it fresh every time. Feel free to multiply the ingredients proportionally to make larger batches.

Since I am not feeling 100% yet I wanted to share this recipe. Last night, after a day of hot soup my hubby bought me egg rolls, more hot soup and friend rice with veggies. My egg rolls came with a tiny contaner of hot mustard sauce. I felt like maybe my cold would settle in my chest until I dipped an egg roll in that hot mustard sauce! It is hard to explain but I felt my chest open once I tasted that sauce not to mention it cleared my sinuses for the night!
So I decided to copy the recipe from a site called I am anxious to try to make this sauce next time I have egg rolls.
I will be back with more stories as I can and  hope you all have a wonderful night. We are in the deep freeze so I pray it ends soon. I do not mind the snow or cold but bitter, below zero cold I have a tough time tolerating.
Take care and see you soon. I pray all will be well soon.

How timely you are! We had take-out Chinese yesterday -- first time in a couple years! -- and I was all disappointed they didn't give us any hot mustard. I'm copying and pasting this right now!
I'm praying you feel 100% real soon. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Hot mustard sauce is a lot like wasabi, it will clear your sinuses and make you feel better if you are stuffy or have a cold.

Praying you feel much better soon and this cold goes away.

A blessed and beautiful Happy Valentine's Day to all!
