Pay It Forward

Good morning! I am in a tough financial spot currently. A few more months and we will be able to breathe again! Whew! So since everyone is talking about Pay It Forward I want to share an experience I had yesterday at work. While watering the plants and straightening up our lobby I was chatting with two women of Mexican decent who came to accompany their mother who was having a series of tests with our Audiologist. The one woman spoke both Spanish and English and we chatted away for a few minutes. Her sister smiled at us. The older sister told me that her sister was from Chihuahua  Mexico . She said her sister told me to come visit her! The only sounds we would hear would be the river running and the birds singing. They said Mexican people rarely have asthma because they breathe better air! We talked about lots of things and later that day when the older sister had to bring her mother back to go over her tests with the doctor, she brought us a plate of homemade gordita's! Oh My Goodness! They were delicious. She felt we had been so very kind to her mother (spoke no English) and her sister that we deserved a little break. She proceeded to tell us how to make these little gems. I felt very blessed.

Now anyone who knows moi will tell you if there is a political opinion to be had I will always lay my thoughts out on the table! But I started this blog in honor of my daughters little dog with liver disease and I like to keep it light. So go pray about this out of control illegal immigration problem! Anyone who knows me also knows that I come from a long line of hard working people. I think that sums up my feelings exactly. If you want something, work for it! If I choose to travel the world, by goodness, I am going to learn enough of your language wherever you are to get by! Enough said!

So today go out and Pay It Forward. Do something nice for someone. No matter how small the act of kindness is as Nike says "Just Do It!"

Come back here and share your thoughts with me!

I love it! Thinking about my act of kindness.

Things are tight financially for us too...but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Much love to you. Have a great day!

OH MY, YOU OPENED A VERY LARGE DOOR, AND BEING FROM AZ THERE IS CERTAINLY A LOT OF NAME CALLING GOING ON AROUND HERE. WHAT SADDENS ME THE MOST IS THAT EVERYTHING TODAY IS POLITICAL. YOU CANT GET AWAY FROM IT. THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR POST. WE SHOULD BE DOING FOR ONE ANOTHER INSTEAD OF BEING SO EAGER TO JUDGE. I LOVE KINDNESS AND HOPEFULLY YOU STARTED SOMETHING THAT WILL CONTINUE TO BLOOM. MY MOUTH IS WATERING, BECAUSE THEY DO LOOK SO GOOD, CHAR

I'm back to reading blogs.

Of course you know I'm a conservative, more likely a Liberatarian than any 'party'. I have many thoughts on ILLEGAL immigration but those hard working folks who want a better like...who want to contribute to our great country...BRING THEM ON...LEGALLY!

Problem is the red tape people have to go through to get here legally.

Bless her heart for sharing her love and food with you.

Aine,

Well said on your blog. Even though there are huddles to be dealt with becoming a legal citizen here should be an honor not a safety net. There are countless people over the years that take pride in going through the process to become a citizen and like you stated before, if I were to move to any country, I would do whatever it took to fit in there, not ask for accommodations to be made for me.

The gesture was very sweet from the ladies you were kind to!

Thanks for your perspective on the issue of immigration. I live on the coast of NC where many illegals are working for landscapers. It's a sad situation.
I hope something can be done to encourage coming to our country the legal way.

I'm sure there are many nice people in Mexico however a person who sneaks over the border illegally is not an immigrant but rather an illegal alien. They are not citizens and not entitled to any government funded services. I am pro immigration but anti illegal immigration. They are NOT the same thing. They are breaking the law - yet there are no laws Americans can break without penalty. Mexico has some of the most draconian immigration laws severely restricting immigration. Beyond that, what other people immigrated to the US and refused to adapt to the culture and learn the language?

This is a beautiful post. I'm glad you are seeing the light. I think things are very bad out there for so many right now.

I would love to hear that recipe if you could share it sometime.

Sending lots of hugs and hope your way!

Great post and how nice that the ladies brought you such a nice treat!

Being from the capital of illegals (CA) I don't have much sympathy for them..our ancestors had to come here the LEGAL way. Good for Arizona! Now it makes me sad that all these companies and politicians are calling for a boycott of Arizona. I don't know who all these idiots think they are helping, but so many 'regular' folks who hold jobs in the hospitality area are going to suffer.

I agree that any immigrants should come here legally. But coming from an area which has a very rich ethnic background and being a nurse, I deal with many older people who still do NOT speak English. And no, they are not Hispanic. They are Polish, Slovak, Russian and Italian! Many of the early immigrants in my area where from those countries, hence we now have a problem with too many Catholic churches in our communities. Each nationality built their own church because they did not speak English and wanted to worship with others who spoke their native tongue. We are now closing down churches because some small towns here have 4-5 Catholic Churches and not enough priests.
Many of the older immigrants NEVER learned English including my father's mother and my hubby's grandmother. They still spoke only Polish to the day they died.
It is no so easy to go to a foreign country and learn a different language and culture. It will take some time....maybe another generation as it did here in my area.
