THESE HANDS BY EDDIE NOACK

Visit  Charlotte and Ginger and Spiritual Sundays. Please thank them for hosting this weekly post and taking their time to make sure we all get together and enjoy some spiritual bread.

Today I want to share words that my husband had and was read at his grandfather's funeral in 1992. It is very poignant and beautiful and shares a little window into the life of my hubby's grandfather George B,  Please visit all the other participates in this weekly meme, Thank you for visiting me today.

These hands aren't the hands of a gentleman;
These hands are calloused and old..
These hands raised a family ; these hands raised a home.
Now these hands raise to praise the Lord.
These hands won the heart of my loved one,
And with her's they were never alone.
If these hands filled the task than what more could one ask.
For these fingers have worked to the bone.
Now don't try to judge me by what you'd like to be.
For my life's not been much success.
While some people have power, they still grieve,
While these hands brought me happiness.
Now I'm tired and I'm old and I don't have much gold;
Maybe life wasn't all that I planned.
God above, hear my plea,
When it's time to judge me,
Take a look at these hard workin hands.

Before I sign off I want to ask for prayer this day for Veronica,Albert,Taylor,Kameryon,Kelly, Dustin,Stacie, Sherrie,Lil D. Thank you for sharing today.

YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO DREAM!

Welcome to Pink Saturday. I hope you will stop by Beverly's so you can thank her for hosting these Pink Saturdays.I enjoy these posts and look forward to them each week. I am amazed at the creative talent I meet over here and always enjoy visiting so many bloggers.

Since we had a sad week with the loss of my mother-in-law I wanted to talk about her for a moment and then show you my pink treasures. My mother-in-law loved to wear pink and she loved to wear red! At her memorial service, my niece Leah put together an amazing video of her life. I noticed most of her outfits were red or pink and she was always holding a baby or cooking! She was a remarkable Christian woman and she will be missed by many.

I am sharing a few photos from our road trip to the funeral and burial. My mother-in-law's service was held in Pueblo and then we drove 3 hours to Lamar for the grave site service. As a youngster I did not like car trips a lot. I thought the scenery was boring and the ride too long. Although the ride has not changed much in all these years my love of open spaces has! I love the rolling hills and the amber waves of grain and other scenery along the way. If I could afford it, I would retire in one of those tiny farming communities and live my life in calm and quiet. There is no pollution and people are friendly. I would live in a house like this.
This is the cutest pink and white house located on Main Street in Lamar, Colorado. I just smiled when I saw it on the way to the grave site. Isn't it precious?

Then I saw this cool windmill.
This windmill was outside the county building but I can not remember which small town we passed through. Isn't it so sweet?

We ran into rain outside of Limon, Colorado on the way home (three hours away) . I was grateful that the Good Lord washed all the bugs off our windshield. He was pleased with my roadside prayers because look what he provided for us.
Here is the sky before the rain poured down on us.
Then He allowed the Son to Shine Through.

Finally here is my favorite thing about small towns.
An old fashioned movie theater and it is trimmed in pink. Happy Pink Saturday to all!
Go visit someone new this weekend or an old friend you have not seen lately. I am stopping by both!

Tomorrow my hubby is going to spend the day with his sis and they are doing lunch together so I am meeting my sis at the thrift store. She is the ultimate thrifting queen and I am a thrifting princess! My sissy waits for the doors to open at 8:00 A.M. and she has her coffee and her shopping cart ready to roll! Last week despite the sad occasion of traveling home, she found a pair of Crazy Horse jean capri's for me! If you know Liz Claiborne, you know Crazy Horse is a division of her fashion empire. My sister is a fashion fanatic and can find things other only wish they could find! Wish us luck!

Thanks  for sharing with me today.

VINTAGE LINENS FOR PENNIES

Welcome to Vintage Thingy Thursday. Please visit  Suzanne and thank her for hosting this Thursday post.
I spent several hours in the A.R.C/ thrift store in my hometown with my sister. I bought all these beautiful hand made lines for literally pennies. I am shocked that people toss these exquisite lineNs out.  They are  so gorgeous. I tried to get close in so you could see the detail.

I just had to share them with you. I am going to put them around my house so my phamily can enjoy these beauties. I wish I had the talent to make these but I have always had bad eyesight and the strain doing such close work is so difficult for me.
I am going back to check out their afghan collection. I am amazed how little treasures from someone's grandmother could be. I like these better than anything I could buy in the store. I hope you liked it today.

Oops, the link is closed but since I posted this I still wanted to share. Off I go to check out the other thingys today. Thank you.

I have a really awful week! I am so disconnected I found myself posting VTT from April 2010! Oh My Goodness! Please visit me and ignore my lack of concentration!

She had an incredible sense of humor, a kind and generous heart and was a photogenic dream girl!

I love Betty Boop and although she was way before my time I have lots of colorful Betty Boop items. My sis has an entire kitchen decorating in Red,Black and White Betty Boop fashion. My Betty Boop s/p shakers were purchased last weekend by me for $5. My sis told me I really did not want to know what she paid for her set a few years ago! A lot more than five bucks she said!

Smokey

I am late posting my Tuesday's Show and Tail! Please thank Angela Here.
She is a real gem hosting this weekly meme.
Most of you know I have been gone due to the passing of my hubby's mom. So tonight I want to show off Smokey.
Last night, we nearly lost Smokey. My hubby said our oldest son woke him up at 2:00 A.M. Smokey, a two year old part boxer part lab was unresponsive and lethargic. They rushed him to the emergency vet clinic and they said Smokey got into something toxic. They ran blood work and it did not show what he got into. But they gave him a water ring which was less costly then an IV drip because he was so terribly dehydrated. Today he is up and around but moving cautiously. We love this patriotic fellow born on the 4th of July 2008. He has his own chair and if you command him "Horse, chair", horse being his silly nickname because he is so large, he will hop into his chair and pose for a picture!
This has been a trying week for us. Why this pup was suddenly taken sick is hard for us to deal with but we are most grateful that he is ok.
Here he is on his personal chair, in all his glory!

My Sweet Dolly

I bought this sweet little doll for a few dollars at a thrift store. But she fell over and her face broke. Her nose and lips are completely gone. I e mail contacted a local doll hospital and never received word from them. Is there any one who thinks there may be some hope for this little dolly? I would like to hear your advice. I am not creatvie enough to re do her face. Any ideas?
I found one identical to her on e bay but the woman was selling off her late mothers doll collection and her prices were too high. I love this dolly and would like to renew her. Please stop by with comments and suggestions.

ISAIAH 41:10-13

Today I want to welcome you to Spiritual Sunday. If you click on the right side bar button you can visit Charlotte and Ginger and thank them for hosting this weekly post.

My sweet hubby lost his mother on his birthday yesterday. It has been difficult for all of us. But I found comfort reading my bible and here is something I wish to share with you today.

Don't be afraid for I am with you.
Don't be discouraged for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
See all your angry enemies lie there,
confused and humiliated.
Anyone who opposes you will die
and come to nothing.
For I hold you  by your right hand -
I, the Lord your God
And I say to you,
Don't be afraid, I am here to help you.

In death Christ is the light we need to find our way to our eternal home.
I am very grateful that my mother-in-law was a Christian woman.
Her faith sustained her even at the end of a long an difficult illness.
I rejoice today that she is with the Lord.
I am saddened for my husband because like me
he no longer has any earthly parents.
Thank you for allowing me to share with all of you today.
I am re posting a picture of  my hubby with his precious mom. Life is a gentle reminder that Christ is the light we need to follow so one day we too can join Him in eternal peace.

Saturday Pinks With A Blue Heart

Please click on the pretty pink lady on my right side bar and thank Beverly for hosting this Pink Saturday post each week. She is tireless in making sure these go off each week.
My post today is a bit odd. Since my mother-in-law is coming to the end of this life I posted some hands from babes to youth to age. I also thought this pink floral kettle pot and the pink socks and shoes were too cute to pass on! I use google images a lot. I am a bit unorganized and watching and waiting for Rita to take her step into Our Heavenly Father's arms has been a tough road for all of us. My husband has a birthday today and he is finally my age! He loves to tell everyone he is married to an older woman! I am so sad for my hubby. He is such a good man and often he carries the load because his phamily  can be so self serving. Pray for us and wish us a pink day! We are already blue!

Please stop by to visit my sweet friend BJ  here. She has a wonderful blog and I enjoy my visits with her everyday. I need to get back into the swing of things and hopefully next week won't be so disconnected. I encourage you to visit the old and new Pink Saturday participants. Enjoy your day!

Maxine says zip your lip!

I chose this Maxine today because my husband's mother has some very uncaring siblings. They are currently more concerned about a parcel of land that they are selling and afraid my MIL will pass before the signatures dry on the paper. Unfortunately for them, my husband works at a premier law firm and the attoreys there already rewrote my MIL's will when she was still able to speak for herself. My husbands older brother is in Alaska on vacation and unreachable as we know they rent an RV and travel to their favorite fishing spot. You can not get any cell service on the water in the wilderness! We have left him messages. His older sister has cared for their mother and she is at the end of her frayed rope!
I did not mean to turn my Maxine on Saturday into drama because I truly despise drama but I appreciate your thoughts and prayers and concern for us.

Tell MARY you appreciate her hosting this fun Saturday post. Blessings to all and when you want to say something you know you shouldn't take this old gals advice. Hand over mouth! Zip it!

PRAYER REQUEST

Today is my husbands birthday! He is finally my age! LOL! But today is a very sad day. I need all of you to please lift up my husband and our phamily in prayer.. His mother  took a turn for the worse. We are driving down there shortly. Please pray. There is so much sadness but rejoicing because my mother-in-law is a Christian woman and frankly I am jealous she will be meeting the Lord!

I ask you all to pray for us today. I will be back tomorrow. Pray we can manage all that is going on. Blessings to all of you here! I love each one of you!

GOLDEN BOOKS

Hi! I am late posting but wanted to share some of my Golden Books with you. I have so many things to treasure and save because these books remind me of my childhood. They also remind me of the childhood of all five of my kids. I use them when I put my dolls on display. An example is my lovely Alice in Wonderland doll posing with my copy of what else, Alice In Wonderland! I am a bit irked because Disney and other mega film makers have taken childhood sweetness and turned it into entertainment for adults!
But I do love these precious books and wanted to share a few here today.

These are just a few google image examples of my book collection. My children love these books even today. They are priceless pieces of each one of our childhoods.

Now go visit Suzanne. She is at Colorado Lady. She hosts this Vintage Thingy Thursday. Say hello and stay a while. Thanks for sharing with me today.

A THROUGH F

Hi! Welcome to AlphabeThursday Soup. I started this post on the letter "G" so since I missed the letters A through F I want to take you on a quick trip through these letters. Please stop by here. You can thank our teacher Mrs. Matlock for hosting this weekly creative, funny, thought provoking and learning post. So here goes my tribute to the letters A,B,C,D,E,F.

A is for Angels. I love angels. I have lots of beautiful dolls and figurines that have pretty little wings and sweet delightful faces. But did you know that in the Holy Bible the only angels mentioned by name are men? Michael was a warrior and Gabriel was a messenger. Satan was a fallen angel and all three were referred to as males. In Luke 10:18 it is written "And He said to them. I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightening."NASB
In Jude 1:9  "But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment ,but said, the Lord rebuke you." NASB In Luke 1:26-38 Gabriel visited Mary and told her she would be the mother of the Son of God!
B is for bee. I love bees because they are always portrayed as cute little creatures when they have a lot to offer us. There are over 250 species of bees. I am fascinated by the honey bee and the fact that they work so hard to extract the honey that we drink with our tea. It is a quite a process and the bee is quite a busy little creature. Antonio Bandreas is the voice of the bee in the Nasonex nasal spray commercials. Jenrry Seinfeld made a movie about a bee.

C is for cookies. I love to bake cookies around the holidays. My hubby's all time favorite is the peanut butter cookie. I am partial to chocolate chip and my kids like the chocolate variety. My sister and I once made so many thumbprint cookies filled with jelly/preserve and rolled in corn flakes crumbs that we got sick! We had a dog who ate five dozen Chinese Noodle cookies! He took them right off the table on Christmas by pulling the wax paper sheets they were drying on and dropped all 72 of them into his mouth. We found him in the morning with a bloated belly burping butterscotch! It was quite funny and he never stole cookies again!

D is for Dolls! I love my dolls! I have dolls everywhere! My children have watched too many silly scary movies where dolls come to life and harm people! I have such an extensive collection of dolls I would probably be a wealthy woman if I saved instead of spent that money on them. But they are so cute that I have enjoyed them throughout the years. I did not have time to capture photos so I am showing everything here tonight in google images.

Here is Barbie as Lady Liberty, Ginny from the Vogue Company, Hazelyn and Lil Hero from the Paradise Gallery company and a pretty little schoolgirl doll that I purchased at the thrift store. She was perfect and I was buying different shoes for some dolls and showing the hubby. He was manning the grill and I was sititng on the patio. A breeze caught her and she fell flat on her face, which is no more. I feel so sad. :( She was so cute and her whole face is ruined. I e mailed a local doll hospital but received no response. I guess they have too much business!

E is for exciting. I am having an exciting time knowing everyone over here in blog land and every time I heard from you I get excited.
F is for fun. I have fun knowing everyone here and it is always fun to post with you. I will look forward to more fun soon!
