VINTAGE LINENS FOR PENNIES

Welcome to Vintage Thingy Thursday. Please visit  Suzanne and thank her for hosting this Thursday post.
I spent several hours in the A.R.C/ thrift store in my hometown with my sister. I bought all these beautiful hand made lines for literally pennies. I am shocked that people toss these exquisite lineNs out.  They are  so gorgeous. I tried to get close in so you could see the detail.

I just had to share them with you. I am going to put them around my house so my phamily can enjoy these beauties. I wish I had the talent to make these but I have always had bad eyesight and the strain doing such close work is so difficult for me.
I am going back to check out their afghan collection. I am amazed how little treasures from someone's grandmother could be. I like these better than anything I could buy in the store. I hope you liked it today.

Oops, the link is closed but since I posted this I still wanted to share. Off I go to check out the other thingys today. Thank you.

I have a really awful week! I am so disconnected I found myself posting VTT from April 2010! Oh My Goodness! Please visit me and ignore my lack of concentration!

Those are so beautiful Anne! And I'm like you in that I can't imagine someone getting rid of them like that. I have recently bought a few vintage linens myself! I love them. I haven't put them out yet but I am going to. I'm going room to room and clean it top to bottom. 2 years of running to preschool for my son my house has been seriously neglected.

Hugs,
Angela

They are all beautiful linens Anne. Sadly I think young people don't value handiwork like tbis anymore. I'm glad you rescued them!

You found some wonderful treasures and it sounds like a good price too. I love finding vintage handiwork like that. I do hope you get your doll fixed. It is sad when you love something like that and then something happens to it. The thing is even if you find another one, you will be loathe to break her up to fix the broken one. believe me I have been there. You must let us know how Smokey is doing. Thank you for stopping by and saying Hello.

DEAR ANNE,
I HAVE MISSED HEARING FROM YOU. I'VE BEEN SEEING YOUR VOICE AROUND BLOGLAND SO I CAN PRAY YOU ARE DOING WELL.
HOW AWESOME TO GO SHOPPING WITH YOUR SISTER...IT IS WONDERFUL TO HEAR OF SISTERS WHO ARE CLOSE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER! YOU ARE BLESSED.
YOUR TREASURES ARE STUNNING...I CANNOT PHATHOM EITHER WHY PEOPLE GET RID OF SUCH BEAUTY BUT THEN BLESS THEM FOR DOING IT IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT BECAUSE THEN THOSE THAT TREASURE THESE WORKS OF ART CAN PURCHASE THEM, LITERALLY FOR PENNIES, AS YOU SAY.
GOD IS AWESOME.

Hi Anne, Those vintage linens are GORGEOUS. Some of them look like ones that my mother used to have. I don't know what ever happened to all of those pretty things... When I was younger, I didn't seem to care for all of those things.... Darn---I'd love them now!!! Oh Well!!!!

You got some pretty linens. Congrats!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

It is crazy that some people don't appreciate all the workmanship that goes into these kind of things. But then again, lucky for us when we find what they toss. They are lovely.
Blessings~

Nice finds! Their loss is your gain.

:)

At least they got recycled/rehomed.

I relate to your post today very well. I love all linens and have worlds of them. I will be doing a post on some of them in the future. You were lucky finding these. The younger generation just does not appreciate such things.

All of the linens and doilies are beautiful. I think those embroidered linens are especially lovely...and I alawys wonder about the stories behind them and why they were given away...but they have a nice loving home in your house now :) :) Love and hugs, Heather :)
