Vintage Sweet Lambs

I have had an upside down week. Actually my spring and summer was full of loss and it seems to be starting all over again this fall! But instead of dwelling on sadness I want to smile so I pulled out my two precious lambs and my baby block that I found for pennies each at the thrift stores. I remember these lil lambs when I had my first child. They were popular to give a floral arrangement to a new mom and baby! I had grand plans to use them for some great craft project but they sit in my bedroom filled with a  variety of things, paperclips, eye liners, receipts, notes and other miscellaneous items.
I hope you will stop by Suzanne's blog and join the fun sharing your vintage items with all of us. Have a great week and please stop by to visit all the participates.

"B" is for Babies

I love going through the alphabet! I see sawed back and forth on what to post. I love butterflies but fall is here and spring is gone. I thought about my Bronco football team but my hubby said I 'd just be embarassed cause they are on a long losing streak! Then I remember something sweet someone sent me on an e mail a while back.
So I am going to say "B" is for babies! These babies are very unique. They are made out of  Prosculpt polymer clay and mohair. Look at the detail on these sweet darlings. The artist is Camille Allen. She has a line of Shell Baby miniatures. You can see her website at www.camilleallen.com.
Now you may go over to Mrs. Matlock's and join the class for the rest of this assignment!

Me and the Earth

Here is my verse today. I think about this a lot and wish for rain as we have had so many dry days. September has been one of the hottest and driest months we have experienced in Colorado.

"I set My rainbow in the clouds, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth." Genesis 9:12-13

Eagles

I am fascinated with eagles. I think they are absolutely the most regal bird. They are amazing creatures and today for Show and Tail I am posting an internet  photo here along with a favorite Scripture verse. Enjoy and visit Angela and all the other participates of the Tuesday Show and Tail. You may side the button on my right sidebar.

Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31

The Go Red Campaign

I do not want anyone to think I am trying to get over on anyone because of the loss of someone I cared for dearly. I can hear Jonel's voice inside my head. She use to tell me all the time "Anne, you are so dramatic!" But she would smile at me now. I am suffering from the loss of a friend, Jonel was the person I learned so much about the Princess House business from. She taught me and guided me and she was terrific! She could sell anything to anyone and she always took the time to know her hostesses and got to know things about them and their families. But she never thought about dying from heart disease. I am sure most of us don't. Now I am not taking away from the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and the fact that I don't have enough fingers to count the people I personally know struggling with that disease. But I also do not have enough fingers to count the women I know who have heart disease.
Every time you make a purchase from the Princess House Company, no matter how large, or small, you can round up your order to the next dollar and they will donate that money to the Go Red Campaign in the fight against heart disease and stroke in women! You can even order the current specials. Anything goes. I also want to tell you about the sweet "Love Your Heart" keepsake bottle. It is hand cut with the signature Princess Heritage design . The cost for a bottle is $24.95 plus shipping and tax. It rounds up to approximately $30 and can be sent anywhere in the continental USA. I am sorry I don't have picture of the bottle but it is beautiful and slim. I will gladly accept any orders and my goal, although a large one, is to sell 100 bottles and/or in combination with the red hand blown ornaments with the PH hand cut design. They sell for $25 with tax and shipping. Gift boxed and they make a lovely gift.
I don't want to use my blog to make anyone feel uncomfortable but I am glad to accept orders and turn the round up money plus $1 per bottle or ornament donation to the American Heart Association Women's Campaign to stop heart disease and strokes in women. Let's join together and help out a wonderful cause. I would like to honor Jonel and I hope many will join me. Please spread the word as I will gladly accept paypal or checks for the Go Red items or any items you wish you order.

"Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality."

On Death

I love this quote!

The fear of death follows from the fear of life.  A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.  ~Mark Twain

I received a phone call today. A sad one to tell me Jonel passed away. She was my up line, the Princess House unit organizer I first meet in January 1996.  It was a sad day when I met her, my vibrant and beautiful niece had passed away. She was 18 and enjoying her first year in college. She died from a rare form of blood poisoning, in Atlanta Georgia, the home of the Infectious Disease Control. Jonel came to my home to help me earn some free Princess House. We got a long well and I joined the company a few weeks later. Anything to keep ones mind busy when death creeps into your personal space. She had a kindness I liked and she handled my phamily situation so beautifully. I have never forgotten that.
Death comes and life goes on. Weird isn't it? But somehow no matter who we are, no matter who we lose to death's unkind hand we must honor the person we lose. We must continue to live no matter how difficult it seems.
I worked with a doctor who once said "Why is it all the good people die too soon?" My grandmother use to say that God takes some of us and leaves the others because some of us still have lessons to learn.
I am always sad when I lose someone I know who does not know the Lord. But I can not throw up my hands and cry out in despair because God has a plan and I am hopeful His plan includes those last minute moments reaching out to Him before one's life is finished on this earth.
Jonel passed way too soon for me. She was beautiful and vibrant and she was in her forties. She left a husband and two daughters in their 20s behind.
I will never figure out life while I am here. Maybe when I meet the Lord myself I can get some answers to a handful of questions I carry with me.
Until then we all need to do those things we keep putting off. Make those phone calls and lunch  plans. Don't put off today what tomorrow may not bring.
John 14:1-3 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (NIV)

PINK MONET

I could say I am late for my Pink Saturday post or I could tell you that I am early for my Spiritual Sunday post. Either way I just got busy with the pets around here and helping my hubby at his job with the Saturday mail!  I had an entirely different post to put up and the photos won't load so here is my Pink Saturday.Spiritual Sunday post:

I have several reproduction prints of Monet's work. I think the painter's back in Monet's day had such grace and talent. Today there is so much garbage that people consider art! I am truly offended by most of it so I like to find some comfort in these old classics.
I hope you will visit Beverly at http:howseetthesound.typepad/com/
"Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it Hed rested from all His work which God had created and made." Genesis 2:3
Then you should stop by Spiritual Sunday and thank Charlotte and Ginger for their gracious hosting of this wonderful weekly post. You can find the button on my sidebar for both PS and SS.

PRAYER

P owerful words
R acing through my mind
A bsolutely
Y earning with
E ach individual
R eason why

I love my prayer time. I am grateful to God each day that I may wake up and reserve time for Him with all my requests. I find that as I get older I am able to pray more wholeheartedly for others rather than concentrating on myself.
Today I found out my friend Veronica is undergoing tough radiation treatments for her breast cancer that recently returned. Drats! She is a single mom of a college aged son. She really needs your prayers.
Gabe also needs your prayers. He is a young friend of Jeanne's church family backyardneighbor.typepad.com. Please pray for him as there is nothing doctors can do and he is in God's hands.
AngelDawn is the sweet little lady we met through the Miracle Makeover with Sherry http://countrywingsinphoenix..blogspot.com/ and other wonderful bloggers who posted her story about getting cancer at the ripe old age of 11! I am currently in the process of putting together a package to send my new friend. Please pray for this sweet girl who loves the Lord.
Denise at http://shortybearsplace.blogspot.com/ needs pray. She generously prays for everyone. She needs lots of prayer support regarding her health with her failing eyesight and I want to put up prayers alerts for her. She is so kind and giving she needs us to support her with this.
Mollye at http://mizmollye.blogspot.com/ needs us to continue praying for her family including herself, Punkin and the kids Buddy,Lori and Shari. We know Jake is in Heaven watching down on all of us. So pray that this family will carry on the memory of Jake's life and smile when they remember his life
My pictures won't load tonight. so I hope you will not mind my plain post for prayer request.

The devil tries to interfer in my prayer time and I decided tonight since I can not post my pictures I am going to post my favorite prayer quotes:
Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays.  ~Søren Kierkegaard

No one is a firmer believer in the power of prayer than the devil; not that he practices it, but he suffers from it.  ~Guy H. King

Don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines.  ~Satchel Paige, 1974

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.  ~Frederick Douglass, escaped slave

When at night you cannot sleep, talk to the Shepherd and stop counting sheep.  ~Author Unknown

When you pray, rather let your heart be without words than your words without heart.  ~John Bunyan

A Is For Alaska

I am excited to be part of the new session of Alphabe Thursday. I am anxious to get started and share Alaska with you. I have never been to this "last  frontier" state but my brother-in-law Mike has lived there and will be living there again soon. He is a nurse and is planning to travel there in the next month so he can start fresh. He is going to be living near the Arctic Circle! Brrr.....So I will have a small photo presentation here but want to remind you that I am trying to close out my postcard exchange and giveaway so if you would like to send me any last minute postcards from your home state or your travels I am always anxious to receive them so I may draw the lucky winner of the Colorado inspired giveaway box. I tell you this because originally California and Texas were leading the card count in postcards received from those states! Then I badgered the Colorado folks with my lamenting that I would undoubtedly have to send myself a Colorado postcard! HeeHee! People started flooding me with Colorado cards. Then I also mentioned that I did not have an Alaska card! Next thing I know Alaska poured in like rain! I am going to share some of my postcards that came from Alaska and the people who sent them to me.
 1. Alaska Map from Amber
2. Orca Whale Mike
3. Juneau bustling for gold , Alaska's capital from Dawn and Bob
4. Fisherman's Paradise from Mike
5. Skagway the gateway to Klondike and the Great Gold Rush historic town from Dawn and Bob
6. Alaska Puffins from Mike
7. Alaska Northern Lights from Tammy at http:www.tammydaily.blogspot.com/
8. Bull Moose from Mike
9. Bear fishing from Adele
10. Ketchikan, Alaska from Dawn and Bob

It is my dream to visit Alaska and with my brother-in-law moving there it may just come true. Ah....now visit all the other participates at http//:jennymatlock.blogspot.com/

COW TYME

"FOR YOU WHO FEAR MY NAME THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL RISE WITH HEALING IN HIS WINGS. AND YOU WILL GO FREE, LEAPING WITH JOY, LIKE CALVES LET OUT TO PASTURE.' MALACHI 4:2

Welcome to Tuesday Show and Tail! I know you will stop by Angela's http://wvtreasures.blogspot.com/ and say hello. Come join the fun! Today I found some fun photos of cows on line. The second photo is a reproduction painting titled Cows in Pasture by Julien Dupre. The other photos are just cows doing what they do best enjoying the wide open spaces in a green pasture. When our oldest son was a baby we took a road trip to my husband's grandparents farm in Holly, Colorado. It was his grandparents 60th wedding anniversary and our son was about 4 months old. My husband walked over to some cattle that were chewing their cud hanging around the fence and our son took one look at those cows. One of them moo'd and he started to cry. It is a sweet memory. Those were wonderful days when times were simpler and life seemed to move more slowly. I am a fan of cows as they are such simple animals and they often are depicted in country items like tea towels and rugs and teapot and such. They live simple lives and yet they provide milk and food for us. I like cows.  One of my all time favorite lines is from the T.V. series Mr. Ed when I was a kid. The day Ed met Wilbur , Wilbur asked Mr. Ed to say something, anything. Mr. Ed said "How now brown cow!" I have always loved that line! I hope you enjoyed my simple post today. Now visit the other participates in this fun Tuesday fare!

WELCOME TO FALL!

"He changes the times and the seasons;...He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding." Daniel 2:21

Monday September 20th is the first day of Fall! We will enjoy crisp air and beautiful changing leaves. Fall is a great time to bake pies and cookies and even have a real treat, a baker apple! I remember my mother baking apples for us in the fall.

I wanted to share this bible verse with you today and this fall tree with my Love is...post.

My hubby and I always enjoy a late morning snooze particularly on a cool Fall morning. Yesterday we woke up to rain misting our world and we rolled over for a few more minutes of a fun Saturday sleep in! We have, on many occasions, pooled our change to have pizza the day before payday!

Come join the Love is...fun with myself as well as Marydon at http://blushingrosetoo.blogspot.com/ and Sherry at http://countrywingsinphoenix.blogspot.com/ and
Nea at http://neabear.blogspot.com/

1 TIMOTHY 5:8

In honor of Spiritual Sunday today go read this verse and come back here and comment to me. I tried to write passionately about what I believe in helping others but it will come off offending someone so instead just read this bible verse and tell me what you think.

Cotton Candy

Good Pink Saturday to you!  I had a hard time deciding what what to do for Pink Saturday and I started to think about the fun times we had when our kids were smaller and attended a local parochial school. Our oldest son volunteered us one summer to work the cotton candy booth and my hubby ended up with a swollen hand from turning the cotton candy! We loved the smell of money that summer because all the money we handled smelled like sweet and sticky cotton candy and we were top sellers for the annual school bazaar. Everyone loved the cotton candy we sold at that booth along with the cold and sweet snow cones. The snow cone machine was old fashioned and you had to bring the hammer down to crush the ice. We got quite a work out that summer! It is a nice memory we will always cherish. Pink cotton candy and cherry snow cones,

I hope you will stop by Beverly's http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ and join the pink fun. Then please visit Linda http://lmarandomcreativity.blogspot.com/. She has a very lovely blog and I am going to enjoy visiting her .  Linda is one of the crafty gals. Also make a note to visit Marydon http:blushingrosetoo.blogspot.com/. This kind and funny friend of mine is a wonderful addition to the Pink Saturday phamily. She is always sharing her heart and I am so honored to call her my friend. Come join us today.

RAINBOW MYSTERY

Well, I still love them and wanted to share some internet images of some beautiful black and white items. So hop over to Mrs. Matlock's blog here and thank her for hosting our weekly meme!

Here are some of my favorites including polka dots (Oscar de la Renta), stripes, butterfly's,  flowers and heart in a black and white classic pattern:

In honor of our sweet friend CC who recently passed away I am posting some internet images of Sun Bonnet Sue. I am in the process of getting together with a dear friend of mine, Laura, and see if she can help me create a wonderful memory of CC. Laura, like CC is a quilter and a marvelous lady. Please visit Suzanne and thank her for the wonderful giveaway she is hosting too.

I am not quite as unique and talented as most of my blogging friends here so bare with me. I am always smiling when I see Sun Bonnet Sue these days. I always thought she was a sweetheart and reminded me of Holly Hobbie  too. But now she will take on a whole new meaning. Thanks CC for your friendship and for your dedication to all your blogging friends.

Sparrows

I chose a simple little plain brown bird to talk about tonight. I have really been discouraged. I work in such an unhealthy atmosphere. The disrespect I feel there is as thick as a smoggy day in the city. So I started thinking about the Lord and all His goodness and the little sparrows that are mentioned in the bible. If He can care for one of them as much  as He cares for me than I need to change my attitude and get growing in my spiritual relationship with God.

Sparrows are just common little birds. But the bible speaks of them so their importance to God has me thinking. I saw two sparrows having a very intimate moment a few years ago. I was mailing a letter at the mail box outside of the office building where I use to work. Those two little birds were chatting up a storm and fluttering their wings wildly. I am nearly 100% positive that they were being very romantic and I thought they have no one but each other and God to rely on. It is such a shame people don't act more like sparrows instead of  trying to act like eagles and end up looking like turkeys! So here are a few internet images of these sweet little fellows and ladies. They are simple but their message for me as been powerful.
Please stop by Angela's place today and say hello. Just go http://wvtreasures.blogspot.com/. Congratulate her for being a new auntie too!

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

LOVE IS...

I am always late for something!  I have been thinking about posting kindness quotes. That is what I was doing on my Face Book page when I found out that CC had passed away! She was so kind but I think she would have enjoyed reading these swete little love is...quotes too! So here I go. Posting a goofy Love is...but my hubby and I can be so goofy. My girls and I can act silly and goofy and get strange looks in public! My sons and are are goofy! I think you might see the phamily picture next to the definition of goofy in the dictionary! HeeHee! We like to laugh and we love to have fun.
So please join my sweet pals Marydon at http://blushingrosetoo.blogspot.com/ and Sherry at http:countrywingsinphoenix/blogspot.com/. Also Nea at http://neabear.blogspot.com/ Laugh with us. Act goofy and please enjoy a few kindness quotes I am sharing here today as well:
A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Saint Basil
Ask yourself: Have you been kind today? Make kindness your daily modus operandi and change your world.
Annie Lennox
Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.
Albert Schweitzer
I don't think Christmas is necessarily about things. It's about being good to one another, it's about the Christian ethic, it's about kindness.
Carrie Fisher
It has always seemed strange to me... the things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.
John Steinbeck
It is only after one is in trouble that one realizes how little sympathy and kindness there are in the world.
Nellie Bly
The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines.
Charles Kuralt
Today we are afraid of simple words like goodness and mercy and kindness. We don't believe in the good old words because we don't believe in good old values anymore. And that's why the world is sick.
Lin Yutang
You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is impossible to treat a child too well. Children are spoiled by being ignored too much or by harshness, not by kindness.
Sloan Wilson
